"Jane Sampson, you shut up," James Blackâs voice seemed to burst through clenched teeth.
As Jane was singing the first line for the fourth time, hearing Jamesâs words, she puffed her cheeks, visibly discontent with his domineering demand to stop her singing, but she still meekly responded with an "oh," and fell silent.
However, less than ten minutes of silence had passed before she suddenly let out a sigh for no apparent reason.
"James, I need to use the restroom." Jane pointed towards the roadside ahead, "Letâs stop at the Service Area."
"Hmm," James Black answered.
About five minutes later, the car stopped at the Service Area, and Jane promptly put on her mask and hat before stepping out.
James closed the car door and followed her, Jane, leading by two steps, turned her head to glance at him and asked, "Youâre following me just for a restroom visit?"
Could it be he was afraid sheâd run off midway?
How could that be?
"I need to go too," James said, the corners of his mouth twitching imperceptibly as he counterquestioned, "Is that a problem?"
"No! No problem!" Jane quickly nodded, and then dashed into the ladiesâ restroom.
The Service Area wasnât very large, and there was a line at the ladiesâ restroom. When James came out, Jane had not yet returned. Thinking of how Jane had been fooling around with his mobile phone earlier, he fished it out of his pocket.
No need to search for it, as soon as he took out his phone, he saw numerous new message notifications. James directly clicked them open, and immediately saw an added moment in his space, along with over a hundred replies underneath it.
James read all hundred-plus messages and then, watching Jane coming towards him, hopping and bobbing her head, he couldnât help but smirk.
At that moment, Jane, because of Jamesâs little smirk, came to an abrupt halt, her head halting mid-shake at a slight angle as she looked back at him.
One could say her survival instincts were pretty strong.
The moment Jane saw Jamesâs expression, she knew he had found out about the mischief she had done in his space.
It was a bit sooner than she expected; she assumed he would only see it when he was with her at the shopping mall.
"Come here," James Black called out, staring at the woman who refused to take another step forward.
Jane swallowed, gingerly spoke up, tentatively asking, "Youâre not angry, right?"
"What do you think?" James said, hands in his pockets, waiting for Jane to come over, his voice betraying not a bit of emotion.
Jane touched the tip of her nose with her hand; usually, when James still spoke to her, that meant he wasnât really furious.
The safety index was quite high.
Alarm dismissed.
Jane scampered over to James and wrapped her arms around his, "You definitely arenât angry, hehe."
"Always itching for a cleanup?" James lifted his hand to remove Janeâs hat, then flicked her forehead.
It wasnât hard, but Jane still covered her forehead and pouted at him.
Jane was quiet for a few seconds, then asked in a low voice, "Did you delete it?"
"Why keep it if not to delete?" he answered, as always, with a rhetorical question.
Jane merely acknowledged with a sound, and let James lead her back to the car.
The car once again took to the expressway, and this time, Jane was much more behaved; she didnât stare at James inexplicably nor did she sing the Smurfs song she had adapted for him.
