"So, youâre also the makeup artist for the premiere, arenât you?" Jane Sampson asked Quincy Forest, who was in the mirror, securing her stray bangs back with a hair clip.
"Smart guess." Quincy replied cheerfully, "I told my dad I wanted to start a makeup studio, and he agreed. He even gave me the startup funding, Iâm thrilled to death!"
"I bet as long as youâre not out committing murder or arson, whatever you do, your mom and dad will support you, right?" Jane teased, jokingly poking Quincyâs waist, "Ask your dad for me, does he still lack a beloved daughter?"
"If itâs you, my parents would definitely say theyâre lacking, especially my mom, she canât stop talking about how much she likes you." Quincy said with a chuckle, "But they really do spoil me more than my brother, heâs pretty jealous about that."
After taking a playful jab at her brother Alexander Forest, Quincy couldnât help but start gossiping about her cousin Kane Forest with Jane.
"Little Jane, do you know why my cousin came to Smytheton this time?" Quincy hadnât even finished her question when she burst into uncontrollable giggles.
"He said it was half business, half vacation." Jane replied, "I asked him at the airport. Oh, by the way, James Black and I are planning to take your brother out for a meal, so since youâll be there, you should join us."
"Absolutely, Iâm going. Iâll be heading back with my brother, and weâve booked the same flight." Quincy was overjoyed at the prospect of a meal, especially one with Jane and her husband, along with her own brothers.
"Let me tell you, my cousin didnât come here for business or a vacation on his own." Quincy hadnât forgotten the gossip about Kane she wanted to share with Jane, "The day before I arrived, I accidentally overheard my brother talking to his assistant. My cousin didnât come to Smytheton for business; he came to find someone."
"Find someone? What do you mean by that?" Jane felt Quincyâs definition of âsomeoneâ might be a bit broad. She guessed casually, "A girlfriend?"
"Not a girlfriend. I called the person âsomeoneâ because I donât know who it is. Maybe even he doesnât know exactly who it is. From what he said, it sounded like he knew this person was coming to Smytheton, so he paused his work to fly here, probably hoping for a chance encounter in the city," Quincy explained, "This person seems to be someone my cousin likes. Itâs quite shocking, actually. I never thought my cousin could have an unrequited love."
After hearing the whole story, Jane blinked in surprise, "Your cousin doesnât have a girlfriend. Itâs pretty normal for him to have a crush, right?"
"Normal my ass, heâs not like my brother. My brother is a playboy, always surrounded by girlfriends, but my cousin is different. To my knowledge, heâs never been in a relationship. My Elder Uncleâs family and my parents are all worried that my cousin might be into boys."
Quincy tried to contain her laughter so as not to affect her work, then continued, "When I was young, every time my parents criticized my brother for his early romances, telling him to focus on studies like my cousin, theyâd say, âWill you die if you spend a day without women? Will you die?â Now, my parents donât mention it anymore; they probably feel relieved that my brother turns out to be a playboy rather than someone like my cousin whoâs buried in work and still doesnât have a girlfriend."
