"Hmm?" Jane Sampson asked, puzzled, with tears in her eyes.
"Silly daughter-in-law," James Black suddenly chuckled.
Jane wiped away her tears with both hands and sat up straight, "Donāt call me silly, Iām not silly at all."
James raised his eyebrows, "Well then, tell me, what did my words mean?"
Jane pursed her lips, refused to speak, and even hummed, turning her head away.
A few seconds later, she suddenly turned her head back and bent down quickly to give James Black a peck on the lips.
Janeās unexpected kiss took even James by surprise for a few seconds.
When he recovered, he felt her trying to end the kiss, so James quickly sat up. Then, straddling her legs with his, he sat on her thighs and pressed her against the wall. Leaning in, he kissed her lips once again.
His kiss was different from Janeās light one ā it was fierce, almost as if he wanted to consume her entirely.
His tongue invaded her territory, entangling tirelessly.
...
When the kiss ended, Jane felt as though she was about to float away.
With just one kiss, James had made her surrender completely, leaving her soft and dizzy.
Jane thought that her lips must be swollen from Jamesās kisses again; it was a good thing she didnāt have to go out tomorrow.
His pleased laughter was in her ears. Jane looked at James, puzzled, having no idea what was amusing him.
"Be good, get some rest early," James finally got up from Janeās thighs and, with consideration, asked, "Youāre not numb, are you?"
Janeās cheeks turned a slight red, she quickly shook her head then lay back down, pulling over the quilt to hurriedly cover her flushed cheeks.
His kisses could be addictive.
Jane secretly thought.
From initially finding his habit of kissing her anytime and anywhere especially annoying, now, she seemed to have unknowingly grown fond of his kisses.
His kisses.
Yes, they were sweet.
Like honey.
"Trying to suffocate yourself?" James teased the woman beside him, knowing she was embarrassed, yet he couldnāt resist teasing her further, "Weāre an old couple, whatās there to be shy about from a kiss?"
"Whoās shy?" Jane uncovered her face with the quilt, then added, "Weāre an old couple, from now on, no more kissing! Humph!"
"..." James Blackās mouth twitched slightly, she was in need of discipline.
This night, the summer breeze from the southland gently caressed every corner of the city, the cool night air alleviated the dayās irritability, bringing back a sense of comfort and ease.
That night, Jane slept soundly, probably because she was constantly thinking about the injury on Jamesās hand, so after falling asleep holding James, she didnāt even turn over once.
She slept the whole night in that same position, holding James.
The next day, when she woke up, she was still holding James.
"Awake?" Feeling the woman in his arms move, James opened his eyes to look at her.
"Mhm." Jane knew the moment she saw him like that, that he had been awake for a long time.
But it was a bit strange, for a man who usually didnāt linger in bed and got up as soon as he was awake, why was he still in bed this morning and not gone out into the courtyard for a walk?
Jane secretly thought that maybe he saw she was still sleeping and didnāt want to disturb her wakefulness, so he couldnāt bear to wake her up.
