Jane Sampson grew more and more excited as she spoke, recounting how she had spent her afternoon.
At first, when she woke up in the bed and looked at the somewhat unfamiliar yet familiar room, Jane hadnāt come back to her senses.
Once she remembered she had come to the guard team to find James Black, she got down from the bed, stayed in James Blackās dormitory for a while, and then went out to play.
Halfway there, she met Peter Gingery and was then taken by him to the shooting range. Once she finally stopped missing her targets, Jane lost interest in shooting, walked to the basketball court, saw a group of people playing there, and joined in.
One could say, Jane Sampson, equally famous as James Black in the guard team, received cheers from a horde of fanboys wherever she went within the team.
So, that afternoon, Jane didnāt feel bored at all; rather, she felt that time was passing especially quickly.
Listening to the woman chattering non-stop by his side, James understood why Jane hadnāt answered her mobile phone. In such a bustling place, and not even holding her phone, it was impossible for her to hear it ring.
After returning to the dormitory, James finally let go of Jane Sampsonās hand, walked in, stared at Jane while drinking water, and after finishing his drink, he then spoke, "Get ready, we can leave."
"This soon?" Jane stood there, dumbfounded.
"What, still thinking about your ice cream?" James said, "Donāt even think about it."
"Itās not that," Jane shook her head, "They said theyāre making dumplings in the dining hall tonight, and I said Iād join them!"
After saying this, Jane quickly ran up to James, pulling a sulky face, "Iāll stay with you tonight at the guard team instead of going out, okay?"
In the past, James always tried to keep Jane here, but now that Jane rarely took the initiative to stay, James didnāt seem very happy about it.
"Today is Valentineās Day; who wants to spend it with those dumbfounded guys?" James said with dissatisfaction, "Hurry up and pack your stuff, and letās go."
"I donāt want to leave," Jane simply lay down on the sofa and refused to move, "Iāll stay here tonight with you. That way, you wonāt have to rush to the guard team early in the morning tomorrow. My audition isnāt that early; I can sleep until I awake naturally, then drive home by myself and get ready."
James ignored Jane, picked up her purse from the sofa, walked over, and in a single swoop, hoisted the person lying there with his right hand, and carried the astounded Jane to the doorway.
"Are you going to put on your shoes by yourself, or do you want me to bring them along? You wonāt be driving; Iāll arrange someone to drive us out," James said.
"Iāll put them on myself! Iāll put them on myself!" Jane hummed internally, already embarrassed to this extent; she couldnāt let him carry her out like that.
At that time, people were coming and going in the dormitory.
Because her original plan had been forcefully overturned by James, Jane put on her shoes reluctantly, humming, "King Black."
With James Blackās height, looking down at Jane, he could see her deliberately sluggish, time-wasting maneuvers.
His temple throbbed rapidly.
After a moment, he spoke, "After dinner, Iāll take you for ice cream."
