"Mom," Jane Sampson said in a hushed voice as she addressed Mother Sampton across from her, "you wanted to see me, whatâs the matter?"
"Jane, thereâs an urgent matter at home; you need to come back right away," Mother Samptonâs voice was filled with urgency, and upon closer listening, there was also a hint of anger, "Bright Sampton is going to turn the world upside down!"
The phrase âIâm busyâ was still swirling in Jane Sampsonâs mind, but as soon as it concerned Bright Sampton, she quickly changed her tune and asked, "Whatâs wrong with Bright?"
"Itâs a long story that canât be explained in just a sentence or two. Just come back first; your dad and Bright are now arguing," said Mother Sampton. "Bright always listens to you; please hurry back and persuade him."
"Iâm now at James Blackâs guard team; Iâll leave and drive back now." The moment it involved Bright Sampton, Jane Sampson also became anxious.
After hanging up the phone, Jane Sampson quickly grabbed her purse and car key, and hurried down the building.
Once she was in the car, she then remembered that maybe she should give Bright Sampton a call first to ask about the situation.
With this thought, Jane Sampson swiftly took out her mobile phone and dialed Bright Samptonâs number.
Luckily, after a few rings, the call was picked up.
On the other end, Bright Samptonâs voice was somewhat hoarse as he called out to her, "Sister, whatâs wrong?"
"I heard from mom that youâve been arguing with dad? Whatâs going on all of a sudden..."
Jane Sampson hadnât finished speaking when she heard Father Samptonâs roar through the phone.
"If it werenât for me, you, Bright Sampton, would be nothing! You eat mine, wear mine, use mine, and you dare to be arrogant with me! The very mobile phone youâre using, is paid for with my money! You..."
Jane Sampson had not fully heard what Father Sampton was saying when the call abruptly ended.
When Jane Sampson tried to call back, the phone was already switched off.
Although she had only heard a few short sentences, Jane Sampson could really tell that Father Sampton was truly angry; his temper was even worse than last time.
Jane Sampson put away her mobile phone without further delay and quickly started the car to leave the guard team.
She didnât know why Bright Sampton would suddenly start arguing with the family; the thing she feared most was that Bright Sampton was arguing with the parents because of her.
Her mind preoccupied with Bright Samptonâs matter, Jane Sampson drove faster than usual. Fortunately, the road was clear all the way, without any traffic jams, and she actually reached the Sampton Family home in one hour.
She hadnât even entered the door when she could already hear the sound of arguing inside. The fact that it had been going on from the time she left until now showed just how intense the argument was.
"Bright!" Jane Sampson took off her shoes and, without even the time to put on slippers, ran barefoot toward Bright Sampton, who was in the middle of shouting at Father Sampton. Seeing Father Sampton raising his hand to hit Bright, Jane quickly pulled Bright behind her to shield him, causing Father Samptonâs slap to miss its mark.
"Sister, why did you come back?" Although Bright Sampton had received a call from Jane Sampson, he hadnât clearly heard what she said over the phone because he was arguing with Father Sampton. So, when he suddenly saw Jane Sampson coming back, he was surprised.
Jane Sampson saw the fragments of Bright Samptonâs mobile phone on the ground level and immediately understood why Brightâs phone had been unreachable; it looked like Father Sampton had smashed it.
Bright Sampton scanned the people in the living room and asked coldly, "Who called my sister? This is my own matter, what does it have to do with my sister!"
