"With your tiny frame, who could you possibly beat up? Kid, youāre talking silly, listen to yourself, how funny that sounds." Granny Sampson chuckled with her eyes squinted, clutching Jane Sampsonās hand, unwilling to let go.
She hadnāt heard the little lass speak such naive nonsense like she did when she was little for a long time. It was as if the carefree little princess from back then had returned.
"If I canāt beat him, Iāll beat up his child." Jane spread her hands, "Surely I can manage that, right?"
James Black couldnāt help but chuckle softly, "Thatās all the ambition you have."
"Thatās not allowed either?" Jane pouted, huffing, "If I canāt go after his child, Iāll beat his wife and make him suffer."
"Fine, fine, fine, even if you wanted to beat him up, he wouldnāt dare to fight back." Grandpa Sampson laughed even harder, his entire body shaking, "He wouldnāt dare because he canāt bear to do it."
With the two elders laughing joyfully, Jane also grinned and playfully made faces at James.
James felt as if his heart was stuffed with cotton, soft and warm, watching her laugh like a little fox, he couldnāt help but reach out to ruffle her hair and grunted in acknowledgment.
"I wonāt fight back." His voice was smiling, "Because I canāt bear to do it, it would hurt."
Jane didnāt expect James to suddenly say such a thing. After her initial surprise, her ears turned slightly red.
It was rare to see James being so flirty.
She had thought he was incapable of speaking such romantic words, but in front of the elders, he seemed to do it effortlessly.
After lunch, Jane and James left the countryside and returned home. Having enjoyed their time with the grandparents, Janeās mood remained very pleasant for the next two days.
It was rare for James to have a vacation and spend time at home with Jane; those two days alone at home were like any other day for an ordinary couple.
Early in the morning, Jane was dragged out of bed by James to exercise in the chilly wind for forty minutes, then they ate breakfast at the community entrance before heading to a nearby supermarket to buy groceries.
Jane cooked both lunch and dinner at home, making several meals that James loved to eat, yet she couldnāt coax him out of taking her for morning exercises.
Jane realized belatedly that grabbing Jamesās stomach or discussing anything with him was futile, so on the third day, she put on a pathetic act in front of James, sneezing twice and pretending to be sick, which indeed worked. James glanced at her and didnāt insist on dragging her out anymore.
As soon as James left, Jane stood on the bed, almost fell off in her excitement, managing to stabilize herself just in time.
"I almost killed myself." Jane patted her little heart while glancing at her ringing mobile phone. Seeing it was Coco Edwards, she picked up.
"Coco, calling me so early in the morning, whatās up?" Previously, something had happened and Coco had been staying in the hospital for treatment. Before Jane returned, she had visited Coco, but she had not yet been discharged.
"Little Jane, Iāve moved to Capital Province Hospital. Iām here all alone, itās so boring. Arenāt you free these days? How about you come to keep me company?" Cocoās voice was light and cheerful, "I arrived at Capital Province Hospital last night, alas, I still have to stay in the hospital for a while longer, people here are nearly turning moldy."
