"But before marrying her, Iâd give her a choice. Iâd marry her, but the only thing I could give her would be the title of James Blackâs wife. Beyond that, I wouldnât be able to give her anything else. Iâd probably spend most years stationed at the guard team base. If she doesnât mind, then Iâll marry her." That was a straightforward answer.
Because the scenario Jane Sampson posed was indeed a bit hard to imagine.
"Hmph! Men really are all selfish pigs! Theyâre all lechers!" Jane Sampson snorted, turned her head, and was about to walk away.
James Black, baffled, got scolded out of nowhere by Jane Sampson. He added water to the pot and followed her out.
"Jane Sampson, be fair. If I really were the kind of man youâre talking about, in the past, youâd probably rather die than marry me, wouldnât you?" James Black sneered.
Seeing Jane Sampson standing there with a thoughtful look, James Black chuckled, "Haha, women are all selfish pigs too."
Jane Sampson couldnât help itâshe burst out laughing on the spot.
"Luckily, youâre good-looking." Jane Sampson praised James Black and then flopped straight onto the sofa, lying there motionless like a corpse.
"Lifeâs not supposed to be filled with so many hypotheticals." James Black rubbed Jane Sampsonâs head. "This world wouldnât have girls like the one you described. Fate isnât so stingyâit wouldnât just give someone an interesting soul without generously giving them a little more beyond that."
In this world, where would you find such extreme scenarios?
"Youâre right." Jane Sampson nodded, sat up, and leaned into James Blackâs arms. "God took grandpa away but gave me an even better grandma."
Jane Sampson added, "Do you know? Julie Sampson is pregnantâDavid Chipâs child. Julie Sampson even wants to marry David Chip. But given her and the Sampton Familyâs abilities, getting David Chip to openly marry her is impossible. So she actually had dad persuade grandma, asking grandma to come talk to me and you, hoping the Black Family would help her out."
Speaking of this, Jane Sampson chuckled lightly. "But grandma refusedâshe said she didnât want me to endure any more grievances. James, Iâm truly so happy, so, so happy."
Jane Sampson hugged James Black, acting spoiled. "Grandmaâs wonderfulâsheâs so good to me. Grandma said that if dad comes to me to discuss this, I shouldnât agree and should pass it back to her to handle."
James Black was a bit surprised, but he quickly realized the reason behind Jane Sampsonâs joyful mood.
Itâs because she let go of all her lingering feelings toward her grandparents.
Now, in her heart, her grandparents were just as pure and loving as the ones who doted on her during her childhoodâunchanged.
"As long as youâre happy." James Black responded softly, gently pressing his palm over Jane Sampsonâs head, and lowered his head to place a tender kiss on the top of her hair.
"Tomorrow I have to leave." Jane Sampson whimpered, burying her face into James Blackâs arms, nuzzling like a little kitten. "Before the film crew starts filming, I need to finish the work my uncle mentioned. Tomorrow afternoon, Iâm meeting with the person in charge at the Bureau."
"Alright, Iâll arrange someone to send you off tomorrow morning." James Black nodded. "Will you be visiting the guard team on the fifteenth?"
"If grandma doesnât return to the Sampton Family or go traveling, Iâll spend the holiday with her. Without grandpa, itâd be too lonely to spend the holiday with only grandma." Jane Sampson said.
"Alright." James Black felt a bit disappointed but didnât mention anything else.
Jane Sampsonâs appearance in the news as the New Yearâs Anti-Drug Publicity Ambassador was publicized a few days ago, which is why her popularity on the internet has remained consistently high these days.
