Chapter 1383: Again
âShe is bigger than I thought,â Lord Mighty commented before covering his mouth in a pointless attempt to suppress his loud, rude, and still-human voice. âBlue, I think your wife cheated on you.â
âYour eyes are an insult to all seeing beings,â Lord Blind Sword cursed. âThatâs how cameras work.â
âLord Blind Sword is correct,â Lord Enforcer confirmed. âBut Lord Blueâs daughter looks more developed than the average four-month-old human newborn.â
â[Ah]!â Lord Mighty cried, slamming his huge hand on Khanâs crowned head, violently patting it. âDid you hear that, Blue? Your daughter might grow as big as me one day.â
âLord Blueâs daughter will share her parentsâ sizes,â Lord Enforcer corrected. âMost likely.â
Lord Mighty and Lord Blind Sword couldnât help but turn toward the kneeling, machine-like Royal Guard. Even the former seemed to be aware of his previous stupid statement, but Lord Enforcerâs comment left that possibility open.
âOld Envoy, are you recording?â Lord Blind Sword asked.
âCertainly,â Lord Envoy confirmed. âDo you wish to share my vision?â
âYes, I want to see,â Lord Blind Sword confirmed, and some mana inside Lord Envoyâs bald head split before teleporting inside the formerâs brain, establishing a connection between the two.
Meanwhile, Lord Mighty patted Khanâs head again before studying his palm. He could feel the new toughness inside Khanâs body, leading him to a different conclusion.
âBlue,â Lord Mighty called, seemingly disappointed about something. âDid you cheat on your wife?â
Khan wanted to join the banter. Actually, Liiza was almost about to say something, too, after Lord Mightyâs last question. Yet, the married couple was too captivated by the scene on the screen to address anything else.
Yeza had always grown quickly compared to the average human or Niqols. That had a lot to do with the genes Khan had inherited from the Great Old One, which demanded far more nutrients to compensate for that fast development. Yet, it seemed that monstrous legacy didnât stop at that.
On the surface, Yeza was exactly how the married couple had left her. She was wearing a tiny white dress now, vouching for Princess Rebeccaâs involvement in her caretaking, but her glowing eyes and full head of blue hair had remained the same.
Still, Yeza did look slightly tougher, or less frail, and more confident in that weak, still-developing form. If anything, she seemed closer to a one-year-old in those features, which was over half a year more than her actual age.
Of course, Khan and Liizaâs shock didnât come from that superficial inspection. Despite clearly seeing it on the screen, the married couple struggled to believe that Yeza was able to fly like her father was.
âShe clearly tried to say Papa,â Khan exclaimed, pointing at the screen while wearing a broad smile and leaning closer to Liiza. âHello, my little Princess. Papa missed you a lot.â
âShe did not,â Liiza said, refraining from snorting, also wearing a sweet smile before switching to the Niqolsâ language. â[Hi, Yeza. Mama also missed you a lot. Was Zaza so bad that you had to fly away]?â
Yeza giggled while continuing to cling to the camera, her face rubbing on it, seemingly trying to cross the screen to reach her parents.
The effort obviously failed. Yeza couldnât understand why, and her smile shrank while she kept rubbing her head on the screen, eventually disappearing to pave the way to a different reaction.
Yeza exploded into a shrill cry, and both Khan and Liiza jumped forward, ignoring the bowls and bottles to crawl on the table and get closer to the holographic screen.
âShh,â Khan softly muttered. âPapa and Mama are here. We promise weâll get back to you right away.â
â[Mama and Papa are coming back],â Liiza added. â[You have been such a brave girl].â
Hearing Khan and Liizaâs reassuring, loving tones seemed to work in calming down Yezaâs childish fit, but another helper soon arrived.
A screech resounded from the holographic screen, attracting Khanâs, Liizaâs, and Yezaâs attention. The scenery behind Yeza disappeared, replaced by a mass of white feathers.
âGu!â Yeza exclaimed, slightly turning her head, only for a beak to appear at her side and peck at the consoleâs screen.
Snowâs big, feathered head became visible. The Aduns pecked the screen a few more times before tilting its head in confusion. It recognized the people on the console, but somehow couldnât reach them, leading to a short screech.
Yeza didnât mind the screech. The opposite, actually. She giggled again, reaching for the feathers at her side to leave the console and cling to them.
Snow didnât mind that soft pull, either. The Aduns looked strangely welcoming and used to it, and more explanations for that arrived.
âCatch her before she climbs on Snow again!â Zalpaâs voice resounded from the screen, alongside a series of hurried steps.
âAgain?!â Khan and Liiza said simultaneously.
The ruckus from the other side of the screen culminated in Zalpaâs uncharacteristically anxious face appearing on the screen. She jumped over Snowâs wing, using one hand to stop herself on the console while the other grabbed Yezaâs side.
Zalpa pulled Yeza away from Snow, wrapping her in her arms. Yeza didnât like that separation from the Aduns, stretching her tiny hands toward it while exploding into another shrill cry.
Snow looked conflicted about what to do. It tilted its head between Yeza and Zalpa, but the latterâs scolding gaze made it give up on the matter, settling for leaning toward the baby to let her cling to its feathers again.
Yeza tried to escape Zalpaâs embrace, but to no avail. Still, Snow remained with her, and clinging to its feathers calmed her down, ending that shrill cry.
Of course, things werenât over for Zalpa. Yeza was safe, but the two pairs of stern eyes shining on her from the other side of the screen demanded more than that peaceful resolution.
â[We once brought Yeza out to see how she reacted to this starâs radiations],â Zalpa explained, some veiled awkwardness in her voice. â[She did perfectly, but she also spotted Snow in the sky and, well, followed him].â
