He didn't look at the chaos at the civilian shelter or the falling bodies of his elite sky-squad. His single green optical strip was locked entirely on the figure sitting calmly on the central cooling tower.
Asher sat with one leg crossed over the other, his tattered cloak drifting in the wind. His black horns had grown slightly curved, resembling a crown of dark bone, and his Level 6 Cyber-Demon aura was so dense that the rain literally curved around his body, unable to touch him.
"You're the anomaly," Vane said, his voice flat, mechanical, and devoid of fear. He drew two massive, high-frequency vibranium machetes from his back mounts. The blades vibrated at such a high frequency they hummed with a high-pitched, agonizing whine that could slice through tank armor like hot butter. "The board has authorized a maximum-level purge for your code. Your existence is a net-loss for our quarterly projections."
Asher slowly stood up. He didn't draw his Void-Blades. He didn't even drop into a combat stance.
"Your board thinks in percentages and credits," Asher said, taking a slow step forward down the sloped roof. Every time his boot touched the metal, a faint purple ripple of dark energy spread out across the entire facility. "They don't understand that the Abyss doesn't have a balance sheet. It only has one rule."
"And what’s that?" Vane asked, his thrusters igniting as he dashed forward at Mach 1, his vibranium machetes crossing in a lethal X-shape meant to decapitate Asher instantly.
"It eats everything," Asher whispered.
Vane’s blades were less than an inch from Asher’s throat when Asher finally moved. His 55 Agility made him a complete blur. He didn't dodge backward; he stepped inside Vane’s guard, his bare right hand snapping out like a striking serpent.
CRUNCH.
Asher’s matte-black, talon-tipped fingers drove straight through Vane’s heavy chest plate, bypassing the active-energy shielding entirely through his passive [Sovereign Authority] bypass. His hand wrapped directly around Vane’s mechanical cyber-heart.
"What... what kind of framework is this?!" Vane gasped, his green optical strip flickering wildly as his internal systems threw thousands of critical error codes. His high-frequency blades clattered to the roof, their power cut instantly. "My shields... my T4 armor... it didn't even register the impact..."
"This isn't a framework, Captain," Asher said softly, his face inches from the mercenary's chrome mask. "This is an evolution."

The remaining Specter mercenaries down in the plaza looked up just in time to see their captain’s headless, burning torso tumble off the roof of the Hydro-Plant, crashing into the mud before them.
The silence that followed was absolute. The elite corporate cleaners, who had wiped out entire rebel colonies across the outer rim, were suddenly frozen in raw, unadulterated terror.
Lucy landed softly on top of a nearby lamp post, her plasma blade dripping with fresh synthetic oil. Jax stood in the center of the plaza, surrounded by six crushed mercenary suits, his dark-iron fists smoking. Ren and Chief Garm's mutant vanguard emerged from the alleyways, completely sealing off any escape routes.
"Your captain is dead," Asher's voice boomed across the entire sector, descending from the roof like a god of judgment. "Your corporate masters cannot save you down here. Lay down your steel, or become fuel for my forge."
