Chapter 757: Chapter 757: Paper Cannot Wrap Fire
The whole room fell into stunned silence, everyone was looking at Xaviera Evans in shock. Xaviera Evans actually refused Teacher Lester Bankâs invitation? Shouldnât she feel honored? Why were her eyes full of disdain.
Xaviera Evans looked calm, nonchalantly saying, âWhy would I want to?â
âYou!â Lester Bank was so mad that his face turned red, and he pointed tremulously at Xaviera Evans.
With his stature and achievements, many people were clamoring to apprentice under him, but he wouldnât accept them. Now, he wanted to take Xaviera Evans as his disciple, organize an apprenticeship banquet for her, and even offer her an independent studio where she could create in peace. He had never treated any disciple with so much care, and yet she refused?
He admitted that he admired Xaviera Evansâs creative talents, but Xaviera Evans, as an artist with no background, would have to struggle for many years to gain recognition. Following him as a teacher now would save her much trouble and instantly gain fame and envy from everyone. However, she was so unappreciative.
Xaviera Evansâs eyes were filled with contempt, âMr. Bank, as I have said clearly, I wonât apprentice to you. If there isnât anything else, I will leave first.â
As she was about to turn around and leave, her gaze fell on the painting of the rose garden. âThis painting was created by me and my husband, and since itâs mine, I can take it away, right?â
As soon as she finished speaking, without waiting for Lester Bankâs response, she picked up the painting.
Lester Bankâs face darkened, âMiss Evans, Iâm giving you another chance. You better think carefully. In the oil painting world, do you think you can go on after offending me?â
Xaviera Evans glanced at him as if he was an idiot, âI never intended to go on. Oil painting is just a hobby for me. I donât regard it as work and I donât care about the future.â
Lester Bank nearly fainted from anger.
But on second thought, Xaviera Evans wasnât interested in being a painter and didnât care about her future, so she was ideal to be his ghost painter. He gave Xaviera Evans money, she painted for him. Isnât that a win-win?
As Xaviera Evans left, she could hear the crowdâs murmuring: âI have never seen someone who doesnât know how to appreciate kindness. Mr. Bank wants to take her as an apprentice, but she actually refused?â
âI really want to see, how capable she is, not even taking Mr. Bank into account.â
Xaviera Evans covered the painting with a clean white cloth and carried it back to the Restroom. As soon as she entered, there was a hurried footstep outside.
âXaviera! Why are you doing this to me! You were satisfied to see me humiliated, werenât you?â Tracy Swift finally revealed her true colors. Her prior mild countenance was gone, replaced by a distorted face.
Tracy Swift was short of breath, her eyes bloodshot, and her anger flaring. She angrily demanded, âWhat did I do to offend you? From the doorway, you embarrassed me in public. Now, youâre exposing me in front of the teacher again, making me lose face and the chance to be an apprentice. Youâre just too cruel!â
Xaviera Evans rubbed her ears, looking rather annoyed.
Tracy Swift was close to breakdown. She knew from this day on, she would become the laughingstock of the upper class, and they would mock her behind her back.
From the day she was born, she had been raised as a noble lady by the Swift family and she lived up to everyoneâs expectations, being the most sublime noble lady in the upper class, elegant and dignified. But now she had become a thief.
What was even more infuriating was that Lester Bank gave up on her and turned to Xaviera Evans instead. Such a fall from grace nearly drove her mad.
The current Tracy Swift was no longer pretending, she yelled at Xaviera Evans, âYouâre very pleased with yourself, arenât you? Not only did you ruin my apprenticeship feast, but you also became Lester Bankâs disciple. You became the talented woman everyone envies, and I was labeled a thief!â
Listening to Tracy Swiftâs crazed rants, Xaviera Evans replied calmly, âI declined Lester Bank.â
Tracy Swiftâs expression froze instantly.
Xaviera Evans nonchalantly said, âMiss Swift, just because you want something doesnât mean others want it. I never wanted to be Lester Bankâs disciple, and I never thought about ruining your apprenticeship feast. If you have to blame someone, blame yourself for doing something unworthy. Remember, you canât keep your secret forever. Even if you became Lester Bankâs disciple through my painting, you will be exposed someday.â
âThis is my private Restroom, please leave.â
Tracy Swift was livid, seething with jealousy. she knew Xaviera Evans looked down on her. Xaviera Evans was Mr. Heningerâs sister, Caleb Mametâs wife, and the mystery boss of Fragrant House. But why should Xaviera Evans look down on her?
