Lucien Sullivan put his business card on the table and fled the room without looking back. He caught up with Julian Russell. “Julian, wasn’t it a bit too much to show concern for Mrs. Mamet in front of Caleb?”

Julian glanced at him with a look of disbelief, then stepped into the elevator.

Lucien’s face turned serious: “Although we’re good friends, I have to say, it’s not good for you to hassle Miss Evans after she’s married! I admit she’s incredibly beautiful, one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, but…”

The two got out of the elevator, and Lucien continued to nag: “All these years, you haven’t had a single woman by your side. I thought you had some hidden problem. Finally, you fall for someone, and it’s Caleb’s wife! You really know how to pick ’em! The most difficult woman to get! Have you really thought about if you can compete with Caleb?”

Julian looked up. “Lucien.”

Lucien met his deep eyes and trembled slightly. “I’m saying these things for your own good. Please don’t be angry!”

“I’m not angry. I just think there might be something wrong with your brain. You should get it checked sometime.” With that, Julian got into his car and sped away, leaving Lucien standing there, lost in the wind.

Who was the one with a problem, anyway? How could he fall for a married woman and still think it was reasonable? Moreover, he had given the heirloom bracelet from the Russell family to that woman. Was that bracelet really only available to Julian?

He vaguely remembered that Mrs. Russell had another jade bracelet, which was supposed to be given to Nina Hughes. Unfortunately, Miss Hughes passed away at a young age, so Mrs. Russell said that she would give it to her granddaughter, Nina’s daughter instead. It seemed like the Russell family had found this long-lost granddaughter already.

If Xaviera Evans’ bracelet wasn’t given by Julian, then there was only one possibility – it was given by Mrs. Russell. So Xaviera is his sister?

Lucien’s mouth twitched slightly. No wonder Julian had said that Murray Walter would never be welcomed into the Russell family after offending Xaviera!

Murray Walter cried bitterly, and Mrs. Walter voiced her displeasure: “Lord, our family isn’t being unreasonable. Julian is bullying us. Our families have already made a marriage pact. Murray will marry him sooner or later. How can he give the heirloom bracelet to another woman?”

Mrs. Walter continued indignantly, “Murray said that Julian treats that woman especially well, even pausing an important company meeting to go to her and make sure she isn’t wronged. Murray just wanted to defend her marriage and scolded that woman a little, but who would have thought that Julian would actually help that woman and make Murray apologize to her? Isn’t he humiliating Murray publicly?”

As her voice fell, Zora Hughes, accompanied by Madam Hughes, walked over, having overheard their conversation. She looked puzzled: “Murray, are you saying Julian has another woman outside?”

“Yes! I saw it with my own eyes. That woman’s last name is Evans, and she’s involved with Mr. Caleb Mamet. She relies on her pretty face to seduce men everywhere. She’s a temptress!” Murray said, gritting her teeth.

Last name Evans?

Zora couldn’t help but think of someone in her mind, and it seemed like Cory had realized it too. Before he could explain, Zora stepped forward to comfort: “Murray, Julian isn’t that kind of person. Maybe he went there to find you. How do you know he went for Miss Evans?”

Murray brightened up immediately. “You’re right. Maybe Julian knew that I often go there, so he came to find me and just happened to see me arguing with that woman. That’s why he scolded me.”

Zora smiled gently: “That’s right! Julian must know that Miss Evans has Caleb behind her, so he couldn’t openly take your side. In front of everyone, he could only pretend to scold you. If he didn’t do that, then Miss Evans would have Caleb come after you, and you would be the one to suffer in the end.”

“After Julian scolded you, Miss Evans and Caleb wouldn’t have any reason to punish you, right? So I think you must have misunderstood him. He still has you in his heart.”

After Zora finished speaking, she heard Murray’s excited voice: “That’s right! Julian did scold me and made me apologize, but after that, Caleb didn’t say anything, and that manager had his leg broken. It seems that Julian was really trying to protect me!”
