Chapter 1161: Chapter 1161: Who Says I Have No Evidence?
Hearing Xavieraâs words, there seemed to be a heavy stone weighing on Boydâs chest, leaving him unable to speak. Vivian looked panicked and shouted, "Shut up! Youâre slandering Boyd without any proof! You came here to stir up trouble on purpose! Someone, get her out of here! Sheâs disrupting the Drew familyâs ancestor grave visit!"
"Who said I have no evidence?" Xaviera confidently laughed, her lazy eyes lifting to cast a cold gaze upon Vivian. "What kind of evidence does Miss Wendy Drew need? I have proof that Miss Drew only had one son, Caleb, proof that Jenny Green swapped the children, and proof that the Drew family knowingly kept Boyd despite knowing heâs not their child, looking after him and grooming him as the heir."
Xavieraâs eyes were sharp and her voice was icy, every word hitting the hearts of everyone present. It took them some time to process her words, realizing that Miss Winni Drew had only given birth to Caleb, that Jenny Green had swapped her own child with him, and that the Drew family had deliberately pretended to be ignorant of the fact.
That meant the Drew family had been doting on the child of their motherâs mistress, while disregarding the fate of Miss Winni Drewâs biological son. How could Miss Winni Drew possibly have come to Vivian in a dream and asked her to drive Caleb away?
If all this was true, then Vivianâs claims about the dream would be lies, confirming the Drew familyâs favoritism towards Boyd and their disdain for Caleb.
Vivianâs face showed fear, and Boyd trembled at her side. Grinding his teeth, he tried to control his emotions. He couldnât panic and reveal the truth. It was possible that Xaviera was trying to bluff him and had no substantial evidence in hand.
The scene erupted into whispers, with everyone quietly discussing the situation. Boyd spoke loudly, "Everyone."
As the room quieted down, he continued in a calm, serious tone, "The Drew family has always known Iâve lived here since I was a kid, and my mother is Winni Drew. Itâs ridiculous that now someone claims Iâm the son of Jenny Green! Miss Evans, I understand that you are targeting me on behalf of Caleb. We did have misunderstandings in the past, but now the truth is clear - we are brothers from the same mother. Our mother is watching us from Heaven. Do we really have to fight?"
"If I were truly Jenny Greenâs biological son, why would she have thrown me at the Drew family? Why wouldnât she keep her own son with her? And, if I really were her child, why didnât I say anything when Caleb exposed Jenny Green and drove her out of the Mamet family recently?"
"If she were my mother, I would never stand by and do nothing, but she is just a despicable and hateful mistress who caused our motherâs death. I would rather kill her to vent my anger. How could I possibly be her son?"
Upon hearing Boydâs heartbreaking defense, everyone couldnât help but feel sympathetic. However, Xavieraâs face showed nothing but disgust and nausea. She had no patience to watch Boydâs act any longer.
But Boyd grew more confident, taking a deep breath before continuing. "Miss Evans, do you think that just because Jenny Green has disappeared and thereâs no way to verify, you can slander me?"
"Caleb was stolen by Jenny Green when he was a child and suffered a lot in the Mamet family over the years. I feel sorry for him, but none of these are my fault! My luck doesnât mean you should frame me just because I lived a carefree life in the Drew family!"
As soon as Boyd finished speaking, Vivian quickly chimed in, "Yes! Boyd is my sisterâs biological son, and he and Caleb share the same mother. Itâs just that Jenny Green secretly took Caleb away. Boyd was lucky enough to stay in the Drew family. Xaviera, now that they are reunited as brothers, you, as Calebâs wife, should help mend their relationship. Instead, youâre stirring up trouble at every turn. Now youâre even talking nonsense in public! Youâre such a bad woman; Caleb should divorce you!"
Uncle Drew spoke solemnly, "Mrs. Mamet, we are all family here. As long as you apologize to Boyd, we can let this matter go. If it goes to court, it wouldnât look good for you!"
The entire room fell silent, with everyone looking towards Xaviera. Caleb, standing next to her with his arms crossed, watched her with great interest as he awaited her next move. He had complete faith in her intelligence and knew she wouldnât let the Drew family walk all over her.
The amusement in Calebâs eyes grew stronger as he adoringly lowered his gaze, whispering softly into Xavieraâs ear, "Xaviera, do whatever you want. Donât worry about me."
