Chapter 1255: Chapter 1255: Waiting for Zora Hughes to Fall into the Trap
Xaviera Evans looked up, smiling but not quite laughing as she watched Zora Hughes.
Zora always felt a burning gaze on her. When she raised her eyes a little, she met Xavieraâs cold ones. Her heart started pounding vigorously, but she had to remain calm. Embarrassed, she smiled slightly, "My esteemed predecessors are too kind. I am not that excellent. I just want to contribute to the company."
"Oh? Does Miss Hughes know ancient book restoration techniques?" Xaviera asked teasingly, her tone containing a hint of mocking.
Before Zora could speak, a senior executive snorted coldly, "Iâm sure Miss Evans has heard of âDoctor Faces,â the famous cultural relic restorer. That is Miss Hughes. She caused quite a stir in the field a few years ago! If Miss Evans doesnât know, you can search the internet and find related news."
"That wonât be necessary." Xavieraâs expression remained unchanged. She knew she was famous and didnât need to look it up. But what did Doctor Faces have to do with Zora Hughes?
Xavieraâs original plan was for Zora to join the collaboration, then have the Heninger Family calculate Zoraâs every move. The Heninger Family would then expose Nidya Hughesâs true identity. This way, Zora would completely offend the Heninger Family, the Hughes family and the Heninger Family would go separate ways, and Nidya Hughesâs secret would be revealed. So it was a plan to kill three birds with one stone.
But now, Zora had unexpectedly presented her with a new plan. Xaviera was overjoyed and suddenly felt grateful to Zora! Was this an opportunity for her to experience the thrill of a four-kill?
The executiveâs expression turned serious. Was Xaviera not going to agree?
He hurriedly said, "Miss Hughes is so talented; let her comeâ"
"Sure!" Xaviera smiled warmly at everyone, her eyes showing no dissatisfaction.
The executive had prepared countless responses for Xaviera, but now he swallowed his words.
She agreed? So easily?
Once Zora became Xavieraâs assistant and cooperated with the Heninger Family to restore the design, Xavieraâs role as the person in charge would become a mere formality. After all, Zora was a Hughes, while Xaviera was an Evans, and she was not close to the Hughes family. The others would naturally not give her power. Yet, she showed no sign of discontent and readily agreed. She seemed like a naĂŻve and innocent girl who didnât understand the implications.
Their eyes were filled with mockery, but they felt relieved. They had thought Miss Evans would be difficult to deal with, but she was easily fooled.
It was just as well. She should just be an ornament, sitting quietly in the position of person in charge, without interfering in other matters.
Xaviera smiled at everyone, "Any other matters?"
Cory Hughes looked at Xaviera suspiciously, but seeing her composed expression, he finally spoke, "Xaviera, since you have agreed, let Zora accompany you to the Heninger Family tomorrow. She has negotiated cooperation several times and has more experience than you. If the Heninger Family has any requirements, she can negotiate with them."
Xaviera raised her eyebrows, "Thatâs fine. By the way, Mr. Heninger called today and said that to celebrate this cooperation, he would give us a porcelain relief as a congratulatory gift for the new Hughes Group mall."
At these words, everyoneâs eyes widened. Coryâs joyful expression couldnât be contained. The fact that the Heninger Family was willing to give the Hughes family a porcelain relief meant that with the Heninger Familyâs influence, the Hughes family would quickly overcome their difficulties and advance further.
Zoraâs excited voice trembled, "Xaviera, did Mr. Heninger really say that? When is he coming?"
"You will find out when you accompany me to the Heninger Family tomorrow, Miss Hughes." Xaviera smiled enigmatically.
At the Heninger Residence, there was a trap waiting for Zora to fall into.
Originally, Xaviera was going to take Zora to the Heninger Residence, but now that the Hughes family suggested it themselves, it worked out perfectly. After all, if Xaviera proposed to bring Zora, it would surely arouse suspicion.
Zora couldnât understand why Xaviera was smiling. Her authority was about to be hollowed out, yet she could still smile.
After the meeting, Xaviera walked out of the conference room and ran into Nidya Hughes.
Nidya looked up at her, guilt written all over her face. She looked away and whispered, "Xaviera... "
Xaviera ignored her, walking past her and leaving. In that instant, the guilt on Nidyaâs face disappeared, replaced by resentment. She seemed like a completely different person.
When Zora came out, Nidya approached affectionately, "Zora."
"Auntie," Zora smiled and held her hand, the two of them looking more like mother and daughter.
