Chapter 1452: Chapter 1452: The Smoky Atmosphere of the Fragrance Mixing Contest
Xaviera Evans widened her eyes in shock when she received Irene Hamerâs call. "What? Iâve been eliminated?"
Irene looked equally puzzled, "That doesnât make sense, thereâs no way you could be eliminated!"
Xavieraâs eyes flickered. The perfume she entered wasnât the best one she had, but it should have been enough to take her to the finals, if not win the whole thing. How could she possibly be eliminated in the first round?
A sudden thought crossed Xavieraâs mind, "Could you check who I was up against in the first round?"
Irene immediately understood what Xaviera was implying and her voice turned serious, "Iâll look it up now."
Initially, Irene had not suspected any foul play. However, Xavieraâs comment hinted at the possibility of sabotage, the deliberate framing that led to Xavieraâs elimination.
In a short while, Irene called back, "It was Quinn Powell."
Xaviera smirked, "Thatâs expected. Although I didnât think sheâd be so desperate to eliminate me in the first round by stealing my perfume formula. How shameless!"
"No..." Ireneâs face turned pale. If Quinn had entered the competition using Xavieraâs perfume formula and managed to eliminate Xaviera, it would have been business as usual, given the flawlessness of both formulas, and the judges would have chosen based on their own preferences. However...
Ireneâs voice filled with rage, "Quinn Powell didnât submit a perfume at all! She didnât bring out a perfume or a formula. They just eliminated you as soon as she signed up!"
Xavieraâs grip on her phone tightened until it turned pale. After a long silence, she laughed bitterly, "Ever since Mrs. Algomaâs death, this perfume competition has been filled with corruption. Whatâs the point of an unfair competition?"
"Xaviera, what are you going to do?" Irene asked.
This was just too ridiculous! How could Quinn Powell eliminate Xaviera without submitting any work?
Xaviera paused for a moment, then smiled faintly, "At this point, I think itâs time for me to pay a visit to the Powell family."
"Irene, I have a favor to ask," Xaviera said calmly. "Write a letter of complaint to the perfume competition."
Irene immediately agreed, "Sure! Donât worry, they wonât be able to rest easy!"
Not long afterwards, Irene called again, fuming. "Iâm going to tear them apart! They took money from the Powell family. No matter who Quinnâs competitor was, they were destined to be eliminated! They even claimed Quinnâs past two victories and her alleged ill health as the reasons for not submitting a work. Eliminating an unknown to make way for Miss Powell was a decision made by all the judges."
"Did you record it?"
"Of course I did! The whole point of calling them was to get them to expose themselves!" Irene fumed. "I called them out directly on why they eliminated Cynthia. They all defended Quinn and even told me to ask Jacob Powell since heâs the one who bribed them to get Quinn through."
Xaviera responded nonchalantly, "I see! I heard that Mrs. Wenzel, a friend of Mr. Powell, is coming to Libanan soon. She and Mrs. Algoma were good friends. Mrs. Wenzel will definitely visit the Powell family first after she arrives in Libanan. Iâll go back at that time."
Irene immediately understood Xavieraâs intention, "What would Mrs. Wenzelâs reaction be if she knew Quinn Powell rigged the competition, didnât submit any work, and bribed the judges to advance?"
...
Two days later, at the Powell familyâs.
Quinn Powell had already received the call that she had advanced to the next round, giving a hint of vitality to her frail-looking face.
Robert Powell looked at her affectionately, "You look happy these days, Quinn?"
Quinn smiled sweetly, "Dad! I participated in the perfume competition and I moved on to the next round!"
"Thatâs wonderful! My daughter is so skilled! I remember Quinn won the perfume championship twice a few years ago and stopped participating due to her health," Robert praised.
Quinn pursed her lips, her eyes complicated, "Dad, Iâm really fortunate that I can spend time with you all and do what I love while I still can. I have no regrets."
Robert frowned, admonishing her softly, "Quinn, donât keep saying things like that. With modern medicine, youâre young, you will definitely recover."
Jacob Powell sat on the side, certain memories resurfacing.
Quinnâs illness was difficult to cure, which made every day of her life precious. So, when she was into perfume making, they supported her unequivocally. The only exception was when Xaviera claimed five years ago that Quinn had stolen her perfume formula.
But thatâs impossible! How could Quinn stoop to stealing?
