Chapter 1460: Chapter 1460: Her Status Remains Unshakable
As Jacob Powell spoke, he suddenly choked up. He actually wanted to say that it was Xaviera Evansâs fault for all the embarrassment today. If she hadnât been so pushy, things wouldnât have come to this.
But in the end, he didnât say that. He calmed down and softly said, "Xaviera wonât hate you. Donât get too emotional, rest for a while and then come downstairs to have a meal together."
Robert Powell chimed in, "Yes! Xaviera will be staying with us for a while. You two have to get along well. If thereâs any conflict, try to be more understanding since she also suffered today."
Quinn Powell bit her lip, tears flowing down her face, and then threw herself into Jacobâs arms, crying, "Brother, Iâm so upset!"
Jacob felt distressed and it seemed like his heart ached.
"Xaviera is dadâs biological daughter. Now that sheâs back home, dad and brother donât need me anymore. I know my place, Iâm just Xavieraâs substitute. Now that the legitimate daughter is back, I, the substitute, should leave. Sooner or later, I have to leave the Powell family and you!" Quinn finished and cried even louder.
"Quinn!" Robert Powell frowned and said firmly, "Whether Xaviera returns or not, you are the Powell familyâs daughter. Thatâs what your grandmother said, and I canât go against it. Besides, your brother and I love you so much, how can we let you leave the Powell family?"
Quinn, nestled in Jacobâs arms, revealed a triumphant smile. Since Robert had said that, her position in the Powell family was still unshakable. What about his biological daughter? She would still be under her feet.
She was the pampered Powell familyâs daughter, while Xaviera was just a wild girl who wandered outside. Xavieraâs existence was only for her blood transfusion and medical treatment, nothing more.
Quinn timely stopped crying and weakly showed a smile, "Dad, I understand. I will get along well with Xaviera. Her room hasnât been tidied up yet, so why not leave it to me? I will do my best to make Xaviera satisfied as an apology."
Robert smiled lovingly, "Alright! Quinn, youâre such a sweetheart. Just be sure not to overdo it and tire yourself out."
"Yes! Iâm daddyâs sweet heart!" Quinn smiled sweetly.
Jacob was also infected by Quinnâs smile, and his mood lightened. He couldnât do without Quinn, only with her around did he feel the warmth of family.
He naturally hoped that Xaviera could come home, but if Xaviera returned and Quinn had to leave or the Powell family turned upside down, then it would be better if Xaviera didnât come back!
Five years ago, Xaviera couldnât tolerate Quinn or that she had taken her place, and she always made things difficult for Quinn. But when Quinn was adopted, she was just a child. How could anyone blame her?
Five years later, Xaviera still couldnât tolerate Quinn and insisted on suppressing her, causing chaos in the family. Why couldnât she understand him and his father? Although Quinn was an adopted daughter, she had been with them for more than a decade, and their bond was deep. How could they bear to see her suffer?
Over these years, Jacob never regretted his decision, and the last bit of guilt he had evaporated. He believed that it wasnât wrong to sacrifice a sibling he didnât have feelings for to save his clever, understanding Quinn. Furthermore, Xaviera was still alive, and he wasnât guilty towards her. At least, he helped Xaviera forget about that sad memory.
Jacob thought that if things started again, they could be different. But now he realized that if Xaviera returned, the family would be unstable, and Quinn would suffer. Recently, Quinn had been crying and her illness had been getting worse, all because of Xaviera!
Jacob clenched his teeth, seemingly making up his mind.
A moment later, the three members of the Powell family went downstairs together, and Quinnâs face had also improved.
Seeing Xaviera and her companions sitting on the sofa, Quinn glanced up and saw the triumph in Quinnâs eyes.
Irene Hamer, sitting next to Xaviera, whispered, "Xaviera, the adopted daughter of the Powell family is really something! She was just in a near-death state, and now sheâs happily coming downstairs."
Xaviera casually said, "Mr. Powell probably promised her something, thatâs why sheâs so happy."
"Xaviera," Quinn approached Xaviera with laughter in her eyes and a hint of fear, "I apologize for my behavior today. If it werenât for my sudden fainting spell, you wouldnât have suffered. Can you give me a chance to make up for it?"
