Chapter 1511: Chapter 1511: Who is the woman speaking?
The room fell silent. Everyone thought Mr. Maude Andrews had a point. If Cynthia could still compete, what would their efforts over the past few days mean? After knowing that there wouldnât be a price to pay, they could also have chosen underhanded methods. After all, even after being exposed, they could still participate in the competition.
At this moment, everyone was filled with outrage, all their eyes on Xaviera Evans.
But this woman, under everyoneâs hostile gaze, started to laugh. The sound of her laughter was as clear and melodious as silver bells, yet seemed a bit out of place in this context. She glanced at everyone, still smiling: "Mr. Andrews made a convincing argument, but..." she suddenly paused and raised her voice, "but how can Mr. Andrews be so sure I have no evidence?"
A chill ran through Maude Andrews as he broke out in a cold sweat and felt like his blood had turned to ice.
How could she have evidence? If she did, she would have cleared her name back when the rumors were swirling on the internet. Why would she wait until now?
Xaviera Evans clapped her hands lightly, and instantly a sound came from the competition arenaâs speakers.
ââMr. Andrews, I wonât trouble you this time. But I have a friend whoâs quite fond of you. If you have time, could you go see her? Sheâs in Lounge 306.â
The next second, Maude Andrewsâ voice rang over the speakers: âIn that case, Iâll go see your friend first.â
As the recording played, Quinn Powellâs pupils abruptly shrank, and even her breath stopped for a moment. The triumphant look on Maude Andrewsâ face nearby froze instantly; his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
Everyone was taken aback after hearing the recording. They hadnât recovered enough to figure out who the womanâs voice belonged to, but it was obvious that the manâs voice was none other than Maude Andrews!
Lounge 306 is Cynthiaâs. It seemed like someone told Maude Andrews that Cynthia was waiting for him in there. So, who was the woman speaking?
At the moment he heard the recording, Jacob Powell recognized that the speaker was Quinn Powell. But Quinn was kind-hearted. How could she frame Xaviera? Quinn must have wanted to introduce Xaviera to the judge and so sent Maude Andrews to the lounge. Was Xaviera pushing Quinn into taking the blame so she could prove her innocence?
Quinn Powellâs face was deathly pale. Biting her lip, she repeatedly told herself to stay calm. After all, Maude Andrews had said, âMiss Powell, you should rest well.â Xavieraâs recording didnât include those wordsâhe must have missed recording them. Without them, there was no way to prove that she was the one in the recording.
Even if Xaviera did manage to prove Quinn was the woman in the recording, Quinn had already thought of a way to explain herself.
The recording could only prove it wasnât Xaviera who deliberately asked for Maude Andrews. It could not prove whether or not she tempted the judge. After all, the two had been alone in the same roomâwho could say for sure what happened?
At this moment, everyone was confused. Could it be that someone wanted to frame Cynthia, leading Maude Andrews to Lounge 306? The womanâs hints in the recording were quite clearâshe was implying to Maude Andrews that a woman wanted to seduce him. They could hear it, and Maude Andrews probably understood it, too.
Everyone looked at Maude Andrews, suspicion in their eyes.
Xaviera Evans asked at just the right moment, "Mr. Andrews, do you still insist that I seduced you?"
Maude Andrews hung his head, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. He hadnât expected Cynthia to have the recording. He clearly knew that Quinn Powell wanted to frame Cynthia, so she deliberately led him to Lounge 306. But Quinn Powell was a daughter of the Powell family, and he didnât dare offend her. If he announced in public that it was Quinn Powell, she would surely deny it. The Powell family definitely wouldnât let him off the hook then!
After a moment of hesitation, Maude Andrews gritted his teeth and retorted: "It was you who seduced me! You deliberately found a woman to deliver a message to me, and after I entered, you asked me to take advantage of my position to advance you in the competition!"
Even though Maude Andrewsâ words seemed far-fetched, it wasnât entirely impossible. Cynthia may have been afraid of being exposed, so she had someone else lead Maude Andrews to the lounge. After all, someone who could think of seducing a judge would have thought of this as well.
Xaviera Evans all but burst into laughter: "In that case, Mr. Andrews, can you tell us who the woman is? Judging by your conversation, the woman must have been near the entrance of the lounge. Considering that only contestants and assistants could appear there, itâs highly likely sheâs present now. Besides, since you seem quite familiar with her, you wouldnât forget who she is, given the incident hasnât been long, would you?"
Maude Andrews was instantly short of breath.
Xaviera Evans leisurely said, "Besides, I feel the womanâs voice sounds kind of familiar..."
