Chapter 1640: He is My Helper

Chapter 1640: Chapter 1640: He is My Helper

Wayne Reiser was a bit flustered and hurriedly argued, "That was done by Todd, what does it have to do with me?"

"Well, that’s what Mr. Reiser said too." Xaviera Evans smiled enigmatically. "He admitted that he planned this matter himself, and it had nothing to do with anyone else. He did it to frame Caleb Mamet out of jealousy."

Wayne Reiser’s heart skipped a beat, inexplicably flustered.

That’s not right! The necklace he had given to Todd was genuine! Why was a fake necklace found in the Lowen Clubhouse?

"It’s getting late. We won’t disturb Mr. Reiser any further. The police will surely come to investigate later." Xaviera Evans turned around, facing the reporters. "Please report the truth about what happened here today."

After hesitating for a few seconds, the reporters understood Xaviera Evans’s intention. Wayne Reiser had held a press conference to ruin Caleb Mamet’s reputation. Now that it was proven that Caleb was innocent and the culprit was Wayne Reiser’s son, the Reiser family would not only suffer a great blow but also get their revenge on the Mamet Group.

As expected, this reversal caused a new wave of outrage on the internet.

[OMG! We’ve misunderstood Caleb Mamet! He was arrested to assist the police in their investigation, and he was scolded by everyone for five days. I heard that the Mamet Corporation’s stock market even plummeted. I feel sorry for my Mr. Mcdreamy!]

[I never thought Todd Reiser hid the necklace in the Lowen Clubhouse to frame Caleb Mamet. I always thought Todd was the foolish son of the landlord’s family. Does he have the brains to calculate against Caleb Mamet? Besides, he’s friends with Caleb. Is it a bit far-fetched to ruin Caleb just because of jealousy?]

[Todd Reiser hid the necklace in the Lowen Clubhouse, and right after that, Wayne Reiser reported Caleb Mamet. With such a big villa, the necklace was found directly in the study. Isn’t it possible that Wayne Reiser ordered Todd Reiser to frame Caleb Mamet? But isn’t Wayne Reiser Caleb Mamet’s teacher?]

[He’s only a former teacher. Wayne Reiser betrayed Caleb Mamet five years ago, broke off relations with him, and left the country. It’s just that when Wayne Reiser came back and held a charity dinner, everyone stopped bringing up that matter.]

Xaviera Evans, after reading the online news, put down her phone and looked at the man beside her. "I have a question. Since Todd Reiser hid the necklace under Wayne Reiser’s orders, that wily old fox would have definitely given Todd a real necklace to make sure the plan went smoothly. But they found a fake necklace at Lowen Clubhouse. Also, Todd not only asked a servant to hide the necklace but was also caught on surveillance. He made many foolish mistakes, which make me suspicious."

Caleb Mamet hooked his lips and chuckled softly, "That’s right; he did it on purpose. Todd Reiser is my accomplice."

Xaviera Evans’s breathing paused. She had thought of many possibilities but never considered this one.

"Todd Reiser helped you plot against Wayne Reiser?"

"He’s not simply helping me; he just hopes his father will restrain himself." Caleb Mamet spoke slowly, "In fact, half a month ago, Todd Reiser came to me. He probably knows the secret behind Wayne Reiser’s charity work and that Wayne Reiser wants to frame me. Feeling guilty, he told me about it, hoping to use this opportunity to teach Wayne Reiser a lesson and make him mend his ways."

Xaviera Evans shook her head. "Wayne Reiser is willing to kill even his own child. He’ll never turn back."

"Wayne Reiser has never told Todd Reiser about all the dirty things he’s done, but he has protected this son very well. He knows that Todd Reiser is naive and simple-hearted. If Todd knew that his father had killed dozens of people, he might go insane!" Caleb Mamet said softly.

"I know you don’t like Todd Reiser. He’s weak and foolish, but he’s the only pure, kind-hearted, and morally grounded person in the Reiser family, apart from Mia Reiser."

Xaviera Evans couldn’t help but nod her head. Todd Reiser might be annoying, but he was indeed a good person for being willing to cooperate with Caleb Mamet!

"But Todd Reiser has been arrested by the police. What do you plan to do?"

Caleb Mamet said lightly, "That’s not something I need to worry about. Wayne Reiser will naturally find a way to save him."

...

A few days later, Wayne Reiser finally came to the police station. After making sure there were no surveillance or recording devices around, he suddenly stood up, rushed to Todd Reiser, grabbed his collar, and asked through gritted teeth, "Todd, the necklace I gave you was clearly real, so how did it suddenly become fake?"

"I only asked you to handle such a small matter, but you can’t even do it properly. You got yourself arrested, and now the rumors outside are almost drowning the Reiser family!"

Todd Reiser’s eyes were lifeless, as if he hadn’t heard a word.
