Seeing Caleb Mamet sitting not far away, Wayne approached with the group and said gently, "Caleb, still upset with your teacher? Wayne sat across from Caleb, looking somewhat embarrassed, "Caleb, about Todd..."

The crowd deduced from his words that he had forgiven the Reiser family? They’d heard Caleb had a bad temper. But it seemed he was quite tolerant now!

By the time Todd Reiser was released from prison, the relationship between Caleb and Wayne could eventually be mended. The Reiser family would still be an elite family in the upper class.

Wayne smiled with satisfaction, convinced that Caleb wouldn’t reject him. After all, Caleb had matured and was no longer as sharp as before.

Caleb never cared about others’ opinions, but his massive change was only because of Xaviera Evans. When a person has someone they care about, they gain a vulnerable spot.

Thus, Wayne believed Caleb wouldn’t openly tear his face apart with him in public, bearing the infamous title of disrespecting a mentor, or letting Xaviera Evans be implicated. After all, if the Reiser family and Caleb severed their ties, Xaviera would definitely bear most of the responsibility.

"Caleb, I’ll toast you." Wayne raised his glass, but just as Caleb was about to do the same -

"Mr. Mamet!" Steve Price rushed in hurriedly.

Everyone was puzzled, as Steve had been with Mrs. Mamet the whole time. Why did he come to the men’s banquet hall?

Steve walked to Caleb’s side and whispered a few words in his ear.

"Mr. Reiser, I attended this banquet today as a gesture of my gratitude for your past teachings. But that doesn’t mean I’ll tolerate the Reiser family bullying my wife!"

With cold eyes, Caleb swept across Wayne and left angrily.

At this moment, Steve slowly said, "Mr. Reiser, please mind your wife and daughter. Out of past affections, Mr. Mamet hasn’t pursued Todd’s mistakes further. But it doesn’t mean you can keep provoking him."

The people present were baffled and looked at Wayne.

Wayne’s face darkened, gritting his teeth. That stupid pair must have targeted Xaviera again!

Everyone rushed to the backyard, as Caleb strode towards Xaviera with a cold expression. Once he confirmed there were no injuries on her, he finally relaxed and softly asked, "Were you wronged?"

Xaviera pouted sweetly and nodded, "Miss Reiser and Mrs. Reiser accused me of seducing Mr. Reiser. I barely know him; how could they slander me like that?"

Mrs. Reiser’s mouth twitched involuntarily, and a chill ran down her spine.

With a cold laugh, Caleb asked without hiding the mockery in his eyes, "Where does Mrs. Reiser get her confidence from?"

Steve immediately ridiculed, "Yeah, Mrs. Reiser is way too confident! Our Miss Evans has only met Mr. Reiser a few times, and they’ve spoken no more than a handful of words. But somehow, you’re claiming that Miss Evans was trying to seduce him. How did you come up with that?"

"Everyone should take note not to get too close to Mr. Reiser, or else you’ll easily be accused of seducing him by Mrs. Reiser. All of you are ladies from prominent families; no one wants to bear such infamy, right?"
