Lin Xuan Qi dipped into his bathtub and rested his head backward.
The steam rising from the warm water made him relaxed and soothed him from the events earlier.
He summoned the systemās information panels in his mind.
Xue Cong and Yue Jieās behavior reminded him that it had been a while since he checked what they were thinking about.
[Choose person in mansion to see summary of their day:]
[1. Xue Cong.]
[2. Yue Jie.]
[3. Yue Xin.]
[4. Lee He Song.]
[5. Liu Shi Shi.]
...
He thought about the names āXue Congā and āYue Jieā, and more words appeared in his mind.
[Summary of Xue Congās day.]
[Xue Cong thought about you more than 100 times today.]
[She thought about how you stayed with them when faced with danger.]
[She was anxious that something might happen to you.]
[Xue Cong felt that she couldnāt wait anymore and must take initiative.]
[She was adamant about continuing the Lin family for you, even if you donāt think that itās crucial.]
[Loyalty: 100]
[Affection: 100]
[Respect: 100]
[Gratitude: 100]
Lin Xuan Qi frowned at what Xue Cong thought about continuing the Lin family line for him.
He didnāt expect her to be much more anxious than he was.
After some thought, he could understand why.
In the Da Qian Dynasty, having kids early and young was crucial for the familyās survival.
With the need for labor work, more hands would mean more income and a higher chance of survival.
[Summary of Yue Jieās day.]
[Yue Jie thought about you about 90 times today.]
[She thought more about you than Yue Xin.]
[Your bravery was something her father had always talked about.]
[She was confident that her father would be happy if she were married to you, even as a concubine.]
[She didnāt know why but felt that she had to join Xue Cong with her crazy idea.]
[Even though she had felt some jealousy toward Xue Cong, she had resigned to the fate that Xue Cong was here before her.]
[She still hoped that you would be able to lead a fulfilled and successful life.]
[Loyalty: 100]
[Affection: 90]
[Respect: 100]
[Gratitude: 100]
Lin Xuan Qi was surprised by the increase in affection toward him from Yue Jie.
He hadnāt paid good attention to Yue Jie other than their daily interactions.
It was also surprising to him that Yue Jie was willing to be the concubine instead of being his wife.
Lin Xuan Qi took a deep breath and stood up from the bathtub.
Water droplets dripped down into the bathtub.
He felt that it was time for him to ask for their hands now that he had confirmed what they thought about him with the daily summary.
But how should he go about it...
In the Da Qian Dynasty, usually the parents would send someone, a professional matchmaker, to ask for the hands of the potential wife.
He was alone here in the Da Qian Dynasty, and he didnāt know how to go about it.
Lin Xuan Qi dried himself, changed into new clothes, and lay on his bed.
He would have to ask Sima Long what to do next, since he had to ask Sima Long about the ingredients for the Five-Element Qi Concentration Pill anyway.
After he closed his eyes, his mind drifted away quickly.
It would be a long day ahead tomorrow.
...
Next day.
Outside of the Hong Feng City walls, a familiar figure walked toward its tall and menacing walls.
It was Eunuch Xin in his ragged imperial eunuch uniform.
His pale skin contrasted with his ragged and soiled red clothing.
The security at the gate was especially heavy today.
The Governor wouldnāt want anything bad to happen at Lee Zhen Renās birthday celebrations.
"You, there! What are you doing over there?" One of the guards at the gates saw Eunuch Xin standing there and giving a creepy grin.
"Hehehe. Iām here to marvel at how popular Lee Zhen Ren is," he said and pointed at the crowd waiting to get into the city.
The guard drew out his sword and got closer to Eunuch Xin.
"Stay in line and..." The guard stopped talking when he saw that Eunuch Xin was wearing an imperial eunuch uniform.
He was informed by his superiors to be on the lookout for such a person.
The guard stopped and reached into his shirt.
"Go on. Iām waiting." Eunuch Xin stood there, grinned and goaded the guard to continue.
The guard didnāt hesitate and took out a voice transmission pendant.
"Iāve got him here at the gate." He spoke into the voice transmission pendant.
"Hold him there." Hong Haiās voice boomed from the pendant.
"What is going on?"
"Why are you going away?"
"I donāt want to miss the birthday celebrations!"
The crowd which was in front of the gate waiting to get through the security protested when they were asked to disperse from the gate.
"Scram now! Itās for your own good!" The guards drew out their swords and pointed at the crowd.
It was enough of a warning to them.
They didnāt want to incur the wrath of these soldiers, and they dispersed from the gate.
"Hehehe. Better make it quick. I donāt have all day here." Eunuch Xin grinned, and his red lips curled up.
The guard nearest to him hesitated and stood where he was with his sword pointing at Eunuch Xin.
Eunuch Xin shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.
"The majesty would be sad to know that his Da Qian soldiers are such cowards," he said, and without any warning, lunged at the guard.
Whoosh.
His figure turned into a red shimmer and came toward the guard.
The guard gripped the handle of his sword tighter and tried to stab it at the red shimmer.
Clank.
The tip of the sword brushed past Eunuch Xinās neck and was held by the long thin fingers of Eunuch Xin.
Eunuch Xin used his other hand and came at the guardās neck.
The guard tried to parry it away but couldnāt.
Splatter.
Blood spurted out of his neck.
Eunuch Xinās long thin fingers had plunged into the guardās neck effortlessly like a knife through butter.
