Bai Lianhuaâs breath came out in short gasps. Her throat burned where his hand gripped her neck.
She didnât understand what had gotten into him. Just yesterday he was gone, and now he came back like a mad beast, eyes red and body covered in blood.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" she coughed out, her nails trying to pry off his hand.
But Luo Chen only pressed harder. His teeth were clenched and eyes full of hate. "You bitch," he spat, his voice low and full of rage. "You really are something. Itâs all your fault! Look at me! Iâm crippled because of you!"
Bai Lianhua froze. His words made no sense to her. "Wh...what do you mean?" she tried to speak, but his grip tightened again.
Luo Chenâs face twisted with pain and fury. "Hu Yan! That bastard! He ripped off my arm like I was some cuckoo beast feather!" he roared, his voice echoing in the forest. His injured shoulder trembled with every breath, blood still seeping through his shoulder.
Her eyes widened. "Hu Yan..." she whispered, almost to herself. Her heartbeat slowed for a moment as a strange light flickered in her eyes.
But it was not fear... it was admiration. So Hu Yan had done this? Hu Yan had actually injured this madman?
âGood,â she thought silently, a small sneer curling her lips. âThatâs what you deserve.â But she didnât dare to say it aloud.
But Luo Chen saw that look. He saw the smugness in her eyes, the small curl of her mouth. And that was enough to snap the last bit of reason left in him.
He slapped her hard across the face. Her head turned with the force, her cheek burning red instantly.
"Donât you dare think I donât know whatâs going on in that filthy mind of yours!" he shouted. "Pray to the Beast God, you stupid bitch, because I swear I wonât let you walk away from this!"
Bai Lianhuaâs eyes burned, but she bit her lip, glaring back even through her tears.
Luo Chen laughed bitterly. "If not for you, I wouldâve lived quietly in the tribe. I wouldnât have gone near that fat sow or that crazy mess! But you... you pushed me!"
He gritted his teeth with wild eyes. "Now I canât even go back! That fat bitch saw my face; she knows my name! If I return, Hu Yan will finish me for good!"
He was breathing hard now, shaking from rage and blood loss. "You ruined everything! You made me go after that female! You used me, didnât you? You only wanted to get close to Hu Yan! You thought I was some fool you could use!"
Bai Lianhua stayed silent, eyes flicking to the side, trying to think of a way out.
"Now look at me!" he growled. "Hu Yan broke me! I canât even fly again! My lifeâs ruined because of you!"
He pressed his forehead to hers, his breath hot and full of fury. "If I canât live, then you wonât either."
Her body trembled. She wanted to fight back, but his weight was crushing.
"Youâll be my slave," he said with a dark smile. "I wonât take you as a mate. You donât deserve that. Iâll use you until Iâm bored, and then Iâll sell you to stray beasts."
Her eyes widened in horror, and she began to shake her head, but he only laughed again, madly.
"Maybe Iâll get something good for you," he went on. "If I can sell you for a few fine hides or stones, I can buy medicine from the Beast City. Maybe find a good witch doctor to fix this arm."
He looked down at his injured shoulder, his expression twisting with pain and greed.
"Yes... if I can heal, Iâll fly again. Iâll start over. But first..." He looked down at her again, that smile spreading wider across his face, "youâll pay me back for everything youâve cost me."
Bai Lianhua felt cold spread through her chest.
She tried to move again, her hand reaching for a sharp stone near her side, but he noticed. He grabbed her wrist roughly and slammed it down beside her head.
"Donât even think about it," he hissed.
Tears stung her eyes, not from pain but from fury.
"Youâll regret this," she whispered, her voice trembling but sharp.
Luo Chen only grinned, his eyes glowing like the beast he was becoming. "Weâll see who regrets it first."
His grin widened as he reached into his torn fur cloth. His fingers shook, but his movements were quick. He pulled out a small bunch of green stalks, their tips oozing a faint milky sap.
Bai Lianhua froze when she saw them. Her eyes went wide in shock, and her breath caught in her throat.
Those werenât just ordinary herbs. She knew exactly what they were.
"No... no, you canât..." she gasped, her voice cracking as she struggled under his weight.
Luo Chenâs eyes glimmered with a cruel light. "You know these, donât you?" he said with a dry laugh. "You should. You used to smile when you saw me feed them to the females in the female cave. Now itâs your turn."
Her heart pounded hard. These were the Green Lust stalks, the kind of herb that stripped a femaleâs right to choose her beast husband.
Once eaten, any beastman could mate with her freely... without leaving a bond, without claiming, without the Beast Godâs mark. She would just be a tool. A toy.
"No! You bastard, donât touch me with that!" she screamed, twisting hard beneath him, her hands pushing at his chest.
He ignored her cries and crushed the stalks in his hand. The green juice dripped through his fingers. He grabbed her chin roughly, trying to force her mouth open.
"Open your mouth!" he growled, his face close to hers, his breath hot and angry. "Youâll eat this, or Iâll shove it down your throat myself!"
Bai Lianhua kicked and thrashed with all her strength. "Iâd rather die!" she spat, her nails scratching his arm, blood mixing with the green juice that smeared his hand.
Luo Chenâs patience broke. He slammed her back down, pinning her with his knee. "You think you still have a choice?" he hissed. "You ruined me, Bai Lianhua! You turned me into a cripple! Now youâll live like one... under me!"
