[Interactions in Another World]
[Jack: Lille, do you still have a spare bed? Uh... my mom saw me on TV, or rather, guessed it was me. Can I stay at your place for a couple of days?]
[Lille: I only have one bed, but you can crash on the floor, thereās plenty of space in the apartment.]
[Jack: Thanks, man, XD.]
[Lille: Donāt thank me yet. Thereās some stolen medicine and vaccines in the storage room. Help me get 5 vials of the slow-release agent and 10 shots of the vaccine for Roshan to pick up.]
[Jack: No biggie, still thanks though. My mom would have lost it if she knew about this; I nearly had to sleep on the street.]
In the end, Lille still hadnāt seen Gwen ā no clue what that girl was busy with.
But he wasnāt there to fawn over celebrities, after figuring out Georgeās taste, Lille excused himself and went home to continue perfecting the first version of the cross-dimensional data barrier.
The server for the vehicle AI was kept in a separate room, isolated from the internet; it literally couldnāt go anywhere but this small house.
Traces of entering Saint Domingo, traces of robbing the Six Street Gang on Evil Land, traces of hacking into Lama Armory, traces of hacking in Aloroy...
On all paths of action, Lille left a linking software in devices that could potentially capture their traces.
All action trajectories were connected, forming a pathway to this data barrier.
In the Cyberpunk World, as long as the physical devices were not damaged, a hacker could find traces in electronic devices.
But from now on, devices hacked by Lille would send misleading commands, targeting servers in different worlds.
This way, hackers trying to track them would be more confused: the trioās movement traces were not only fragmented but also obscured with unknown methods behind the scenes.
Progress from Skyeās end was also quite pleasingā
According to the original "Watch Dogs" storyline, the protagonist Aiden Pearce would not make progress on this matter until a year later.
His nephew would be threatened over the phone, then he would investigate who was calling. A hacker named Clara would help him hack into the ctOS, where they would discover his partner in hacking, Damian.
However, now, just a week had passed in another world, and Aiden had already hacked enough ctOS mainframes.
With the systemās help, Skyeās interface for interacting with Aiden would occasionally pop up all the ctOS technical codes she needed, one of which could outmatch most hackers.
Damian wasnāt dead and had outlined his plansāhe thought the blurred images might make them rich.
While Lille was checking the program, Skye remarked beside him, "Boss, do you feel like... this was kind of brought on themselves? Aiden asked me what I wanted to do with those recordings; he just hoped his nephew was safe."
Strictly speakingāthis really was a self-inflicted situation by Aiden.
He agreed to steal money with Damian and then came upon unspeakable secrets, which led to the immediate death of one of his nephews, and another becoming withdrawn.
Since then, Aiden had turned into a relentless "vigilante," shooting criminals on sight without mercy.
This mindset drove him to pursue leads and gun down every criminal he encountered, even killing the ultimate mastermind behind the scenes.
Now, with his niece still alive, he didnāt seem as extreme.
"What do you think?"
"If the truth isnāt exposed, it wouldnāt be safe for Aiden even to hide in Washington; this system... is too useful."
The ctOS was more useful than Skye had imagined.
Through her conversations with Aiden, she became personally aware of the power of ctOS in another world.
Monitoring everyone, controlling all public utilities, under these conditions, not just cars, but even heating ducts and wiring could become lethal weapons!
Not only that, the systemās meticulous control of the city could transform into a theoretical citywide killerāmassive blackouts.
If it treated everyone equally, it sounded like a great tool to eradicate crime, but the existence of secrets confirmed it was still subject to certain peoplesā command.
This was not fair.
"Then share your thoughts with himādid you tell him to send his family away?"
"I did, but there are no tickets available lately."
Lille raised an eyebrow, "Then let his sister drive away; something is definitely not right."
"Actually, Iāve already done that." Skye pointed at the computer, "Iām just waiting for him to return.
Boss, canāt you spoil a bit? What exactly is in that video? Iām worried Aiden might die in this process."
Skye had already immersed herself in another worldāin this situation, Lille didnāt mind spoiling.
Lille slowly said, "Of courseāThe Chicago Gang boss is an investor in the ctOS developer in that world.
After its initial deployment, the system happened to capture footage of the Chicago mayor accidentally killing his mistress, which led to him being blackmailed to promote the extensive use of ctOS."
This footage was exactly what Aiden happened to stumble upon, thus bringing disaster upon himself.
Subsequent deployments of the ctOS system captured many scandalous and illegal acts among heavyweights in Chicagoās political scene, gradually bringing the entire city under the secret assault of the Chicago Gang boss."
After listening, Skye paused, then angrily said, "I knew it; things like this happen in this world!"
