Chapter 56: Chapter 56 the fog city
There were five monsters. Four headed towards Chu Yunsheng, and the other one flew towards Yao Xiang. When Chu Yunsheng finally killed them, Yao Xiang also killed the other monster using his Fire Ring Cut ability.
However, Chu Yunsheng didnât have time to take a break nor check injuries, he just immediately pulled Yao Xiang back and leaned against the wall. There were hundreds of red eyes not far from them, they belonged to hundreds of monsters!
Even though those monsters didnât have a strong defence, they could fly, and their speed was very fast. Once they wrapped their prey, they would immediately release a strange gas. Not only this, people would be suffocated to death if they were trapped by them. Chu Yunsheng also felt that if it wasnât for the energy shield talisman, the monster wouldâve already injected something into his body!
He couldnât imagine if he was attacked by hundreds of those monsters, it made his hairs stand up just thinking about it.
Luckily, Commander Duâs troop attracted those monsters, but Chu Yunsheng didnât dare to pop his head out again. He could still hear the sounds of the fierce gunfire and horrible screams.
He didnât know if Ding Yan was okay, but he thought that as long as he stayed in the group, the energy shield should be able to save his life.
After the sounds slowly became further and further away from them, Chu Yunsheng and Yao Xiang finally bent over and slowly popped out their heads to carefully look around the surroundings. They were finally relieved when they found out that there werenât any red-eyed monsters left.
Chu Yunsheng ignored Yao Xiang, who was sitting next to him, and immediately used the storage talisman to store the monstersâ bodies. He planned to spend some time studying those monsters later on. The more he got to know the monster, the easier he would be able to escape from them in the future.
Looking at the empty ground, Yao Xiang gasped in surprise. He seemed to want to ask Chu Yunsheng something, but he didnât dare to.
Chu Yunsheng didnât want to explain it either. Sometimes, the more he explained, the things would only get more complicated.
They quickly got themselves ready and started to lurk towards the direction where the troop retreated cautiously.
On the way, they saw many more monstersâ bodies. However, because he was worried that he might lose the troop, so he only stored some of the bodies.
Apart from the monstersâ bodies, there were also a few soldiersâ bodies as well, two were the long-faced manâs team members. It looked like Commander Duâs troop suffered quite a loss in this battle.
Chu Yunsheng didnât find Ding Yanâs body, it made him and Yao Xiang feel relieved. But they still didnât dare to get too close to the troop.
Gradually, the troop disappeared into the fog, and soon, Chu Yunsheng couldnât detect them through the night vision goggles. Chu Yunsheng only knew which way they retreated to, but he didnât know their exact location, so he had to rely on the marks that Ding Yan left behind.
When he once again saw the troop, he was shocked to find out that both he and the troop had lost their directions!
In this city forest, the deeper they got inside, the thicker the green fog would be. Although most of the plants were glowing in strange lights, and the forest wasnât completely dark compared to the city outside, they still couldnât find a way out.
The roads were either broken by the strange plantâs roots or covered by them, only a few skyscrapers were standing still in the fog, however, even Chu Yunsheng took out the city map, he still couldnât recognize where he was.
Chu Yunsheng started to panic, if he was still in Shen Cheng city, he would recognize the buildings, but now, he was in an entirely different city, he couldnât even find the roads that they had traveled on the map. Moreover, he was worried about the red-eyed monsters that were hiding in the fog.
The same thing happened to Commander Du as well. They had completely stopped moving now. His troop was gathered together once again, and it looked like they were discussing something.
Yao Xiang was holding the map that Chu Yunsheng gave to him. He ticked one buildingâs name: Industrial and Commercial Bank- Hou Jie branch on the map and suggested, âBrother Chu, I think, we need to find some local people. When we followed them around in the fog, we saw many people hiding inside some buildings, didnât we?â
Chu Yunsheng had also thought about it before. But the troop in front of them was the elite group that had been selected by the regiment commander Du. Who knows they would get lost. Besides, they had scientists in their armored vehicles. Were they not useful at all?
But apparently, they did lose their directions, and they were probably even more anxious than Chu Yunsheng at the moment.
Suddenly, Chu Yunsheng was alarmed by what Yao Xiang said. Normally, if people saw the military troop, they would come out of the building and seek help as fast as they could. But he and the troop had lost in the fog for quite a while now, not even a single person came out!
He was not hallucinating. There were people inside some buildings, but why didnât they come out? The more he thought about this question, the more anxious he was. This fog city seemed to be even scarier and creepier than the horror city â Shen Cheng city. He really needed to find some local people, and ask some information from them.
But before they, they need to eat something first. Chu Yunsheng stroked his belly and thought. After following Commander Du for quite some time, they have already started to feel hungry. It was the time to find a safe place to eat something.
Ding Yan was still alive and the troop didnât look like they were going to move anytime soon. So they were not worried.
After taking a few turns, Chu Yunsheng and Yao Xiang found a small café two streets away from the troop. He used the sword to break the lock on the door and get inside.
The cafe wasnât that mess like outside, but he could still see a few strange plants penetrating the wall and growing along the wall. One of the vine plants was illuminating a dim light, which was just enough for them to see what was inside the cafĂ©.
After checking the building, Chu Yunsheng didnât find anything dangerous. He then took out some food, sat on a sofa and started to eat the food with Yao Xiang.
Yao Xiang smiled, âI havenât eaten this much food for a quite long time.â
Chu Yunsheng quickly finished a bottle of water and told him, âwhen you finish eating, take a nap first, Iâll take a short break after you wake up. We will leave here in half an hour and find someone we can talk to as soon as possible.â
Yao Xiang nodded, âyou just reminded me. I really need a rest now.â
They didnât talk much, and Yao Xiang soon fell asleep on the sofa.
Sitting on the sofa, originally, Chu Yunsheng wanted to cultivate Yuan Qi, but he couldnât calm down. Then he thought of the red-eyed monster. He remembered that when a monster was attacking him, he felt like the monsterâs attack could damage the energy shield!
So he quickly sat up and checked the state of the energy talisman, then he found out that a lot of Yuan Qi inside the talisman has gone missing!
It proved that the monster indeed had an ability to damage the energy shield!
It instantly reminded him of the insectsâ bodies that he found while lurking in the fog. Those bodies had been there for a long time, Chu Yunsheng didnât feel any Yuan Qi inside the dead insectsâ bodies. He had also stored some of them, so he could upgrade his armor later on.
When he took out an insectâs body to examine it again, he noticed that the insectâs body didnât have any sign of being attacked by any awakened humansâ fire or ice elemental abilities. They all lost their heads, and their internal organs also disappeared quite a lot.
Looking at the monsterâs body while thinking about the red-eyed monsters, Chu Yunsheng couldnât help but think, âcould it be that the red-shelled insects were killed by those monsters?â
If that was the case, then it meant that those strange gas they released could also destroy the insectâs energy shield?
Chu Yunshengâs heart started to jump rapidly. The reason why he couldnât deal with many red-shelled insects and tentacles monsters was that their energy shields were too powerful.
Thinking of this, he immediately took out a red-eyed monsterâs body and started to prepare an experiment.
