Chapter 23
BBQ Crab Spider Meat
As Richardâs orders were issued one by one, the entire Long Eagle Territory began to move again.
Every command he gave was like a whip, driving the citizens to start working.
Richard was never a saint. He would never raise a bunch of pigs for free unless he had lost his mind.
After dealing with these matters, Richard finally walked towards the castle.
As soon as Richard left, it seemed as if the air outside the castle was suddenly free, and everyone let out a sigh of relief.
Even the guards were drenched in sweat from their tension.
The 20 or so people, under the coordination of the scribe, began to reorganize the over 4,000 citizens into teams according to their roles, each team assigned to different commanders.
Seeing this more efficient management model, Rhodesâ admiration for Richard grew deeper.
The household registration system had already amazed him, and he didnât expect there to be more brilliant strategies!
He felt like he was witnessing the Long Eagle Territory, like a mighty eagle, starting to soar into the sky!
âŠ
Back at the castle, Cinderella approached, lifting her skirt to curtsy and said, âMaster, youâve worked hard!â
âYou havenât eaten yet, have you?â Richard nodded with a smile.
âMaster, you havenât eaten either, and Rella wants to eat with you!â Cinderella said shyly, lowering her head.
âYou, youâve got good fortune today, come with me!â
Richard smiled and signaled Cinderella to follow him, while at the same time, he said to the knight attendant beside him, âGo tell the cook to light the fire and prepare a bigger grill!â
âYes, my lord!â
The knight attendant saluted and left.
The two of them came to a high platform, where they could see a far-reaching view.
The contracted river, the distant forest, birds flying in the sky, and clouds drifting on the horizon.
They could also enjoy the cool breeze blowing, which was very comfortable.
Soon, two strong men came over, carrying the grill and charcoal.
âMy lord, the grill and charcoal you asked for are ready. What ingredients would you like? Iâll prepare them immediately!â
The cook bowed and asked.
Richard smiled and said, âNo need, just move that low table over here.â
The cook didnât understand but still quickly did as instructed.
Richard brushed his hand over the table, and large pieces of meat appeared on it.
The cook was stunned, opened his mouth to speak, but didnât know how to praise such magic. In the end, with an exaggerated look of amazement, he bowed deeply again to express his astonishment.
Earlier, when Richard had stored the spider meat into his system space on the battlefield, the cook obviously wasnât present.
So naturally, he didnât expect his lord to be capable of such magic.
He recalled that when he used to serve the old lord, he had once heard the old lord mention something about magic knights, who were both skilled in close combat and could use magic.
And such people could grow to be famous figures across the continent.
He remembered the look of admiration and yearning in the old lordâs eyes at that time.
Unexpectedly, he witnessed such a person today, and that person turned out to be his lord.
The cook was overwhelmed with excitement.
What he didnât know was that Richard was merely using a system ability.
âStart the fire!â Richard commanded.
âAh! Ah! My lord, Iâm sorry, I was just so amazed!â The cook said while starting the fire, âWhat you did just now was incredible!â
He wanted to ask what kind of magic it was but held back, as this related to someone elseâs power, and Richard didnât seem to be a particularly kind person, so he thought it best to remain cautious.
âMy lord, Iâve roasted spider meat before, but this meat seems to be of much higher quality than what Iâve seen before.â
The cook complimented.
Richard said, âThis was from that crab spider earlier, an extraordinary creature. The meat from such a creature needs to be sliced thin, otherwise, it will take a long time to cook. Get some flat beans to grill as well; theyâll make a good side dish!â
The cook nodded and signaled to his assistant to fetch the beans.
Soon, the cook had everything prepared, and as the slices of meat were placed on the fire, a delicious aroma began to spread.
The cooks here had already been trained by Richard; they knew how to grill the meat to make it crispy, tender, and flavorful.
Richard took the wine glass offered by the attendant, filled with red wine, and smiled at Cinderella, âThis meat is an extraordinary ingredient; after eating it, it can nourish the body a little, itâs a good thing, you should try it later!â
Cinderella raised her glass and drank with Richard, âThank you for your kindness, Master!â
Richard laughed heartily, pulled her into his arms, and began to eat the grilled flat beans while drinking red wine.
âItâs a pity; if we had some strong liquor, it would be even better!â
Red wine with barbecue somehow felt a bit too soft and lacking in intensity.
âMy lord, the meat is ready!â The cook reminded, placing the cooked meat on a platter on the table in front of Richard, then continued grilling the remaining pieces.
Richard picked up a piece and put it in his mouth, and an extraordinary sensation emerged.
The texture of the meat was unlike anything he had ever eaten before. It was so soft, almost melting in the mouth, yet also had a slight chewiness.
If it were any softer, it would be too mushy, and if it were any tougher, it would be too chewy.
Everything was just perfect, just right!
The excellent taste was partly due to the quality of the ingredients and partly due to the skill of the cook.
Richard had only given some tips on enhancing the flavor, but the precise control over the cooking showed the cookâs talent.
After all, those without talent wouldnât be serving the lord anymore; theyâd have been dismissed.
Richard ate a few slices but didnât feel much of an effect and realized he was just enjoying the taste.
He then picked up two pieces and fed them to Cinderella.
Cinderella swallowed them, but soon felt something was wrong, her face turning red and flustered, âMaster, I feel hot all over, whatâs happening?â
âDonât worry, this means the meat is nourishing your body. If you can, try to eat a few more pieces; it will improve your physical condition!â Richard said with a smile.
Cinderella was moved to tears, âMaster, you are so good to Rella; Rella will stay with you forever, never to part!â
Richard suddenly realized that Cinderella was acting a bit strange; was she perhaps a bit obsessed?
Intriguing!
He hadnât expected Cinderella to have this side, and now he was even more curious about her other personality traits!
As more meat was grilled, Richard directly said, âDonât serve the rest to me. Once itâs ready, set some aside for my knights and attendants.â
âNeilger!â Richard called to one of the knight attendants, âGo and gather everyone, tell them I have something good to reward them with!â
