...
The door slammed open with a deafening sound, thanks to the hinges screeching as it flew off its frame. Dust filled the air as everyone turned toward the intruder.
A slim black-haired girl strode in with wild, red eyes that were shining like an abyssal inferno.
Her grin was sharp and beyond exhilarated; she sported the kind of expression that screamed trouble long before she said a word.
The three Valkyries only looked at her for a single second before sighing in perfect unison.
"Not this again..."
"Huh?" Sarah gasped. "Did this girl just... kick the door down? Should we not be worried?"
The girl in question ignored everything. The stares of many women did not matter in the slightest in her brain, for her mind was already set on its target.
Inhuman speed blurred her form as she bolted across the room. In the next instant, she plopped herself into Kaidenās lap. She straddled and faced him as if it were the most natural seat in the world.
"Big brother!" Alice squealed, excitedly. Her voice was sweet yet oh-so incredibly unhinged. "I finally got out!"
She followed her declaration up by leaning in with her lips puckered and eyes sparkling with dangerous delight. But before she could land the kiss, Ariaās hand shot forward, firmly planting itself between her boyfriendās lips.
Nyx tilted her head in the direction of the commotion. Her voice was flat as she asked, "Did the little sister really just go for the kiss on the lips greeting...?"
Bastetās tail flicked as she smirked and licked her ice cream. "Yes. Yes, she did."
Luna dragged a hand down her face. "God damn it, I canāt believe I have to deal with this. This unhinged chick makes me look like a saint."
She stood from her spot on the ground between Kaidenās legs, clearly finding it impossible to stay comfortable with Alice wedged on his lap.
Alice squinted dangerously at the hand blocking her lips, eyes narrowing with visible irritation. For a moment, it looked like she might actually bite Ariaās hand clean off. Slowly, her head turned toward the silver-haired Valkyrie, sporting a feral expression.
The air grew heavy as Aliceās red eyes began to swirl with manic intensity. Her voice came out low and trembling with possessive madness. "Get away from my big brother..."
Aria didnāt flinch. Her gorgeous silver eyes flickered with the same spiraling madness as she leaned closer, matching Aliceās deranged energy. "No," she said coldly, "I donāt think I will."
The room froze. Both girls glared at one another, locked in battle, neither willing to give an inch. Their swirling gazes clashed in the air. The tension was straining so strongly that Sarah stopped breathing altogether.
Then Kaidenās finger flicked forward and tapped Aliceās forehead with a sharp snap.
"Ah!" She jolted in panic and shock, and instantly, the manic haze began disintegrating away as she recoiled with a pout. She refused to meet his eyes, knowing full well the scolding that was about to come if she started arguing with him.
As such, Alice didnāt even attempt defending her actions, though her lips still twisted as she muttered under her breath to no one in particular, "A greeting kiss between brother and sister is completely normal... Stop making such a fuss over nothing, shameless sluts..."
That was it. Nyx instantly burst into laughter. It lasted a good few seconds before she managed to collect herself enough to tease, "A kiss on the cheek, you mean, right, little sis~?"
Alice crossed her arms and turned her head with an exaggerated scoff, refusing to answer. Well, considering that women flanked her and Kaiden from all sides, turning her head didnāt prove to be enough. The little sis thus found refuge in the bridge of her brotherās shoulders and neck, where she hid away from the onlookers.
Sarahās voice broke. "EāElara... isnāt that... isnāt that girl... Alice Ashborn?!"
Elaraās face drained of blood as her trembling hand found Sarahās on instinct. Together they clutched each other like two kids huddled in a thunderstorm. "Yes... Th-the Light That Destroys... Alice Ashborn!"
Sarahās jaw dropped further when her brain caught up with her eyes. "Wait, wait, wait. Sheās... sheās hiding with her head down like an ostrich in the sand just using Kaidenās neck instead, and she called him her big brother...?" Her gaze snapped to Kaiden, who looked far too used to this kind of nonsense. "K-Kai... Arenāt you called Kaiden Grey?! Of course you are, I would know! Iām like your biggest fan!"
"Second biggest, maybe..." Nyx snickered under her breath, clearly enjoying the meltdown.
Luna groaned; her patience had expired. "I suddenly feel like grabbing some extra snacks. Aria, Iāll leave policing to you. Donāt let Kaiden become a real sinner..." She stood up, walked over, and without any warning seized both Sarah and Elara. "Come on, you two. Iāll explain it on the way before your brains implode." And with that, she dragged them toward the door, their squeaks of protest trailing behind.
Meanwhile, Kaiden sighed and reached up, gripping Aliceās silky black hair gently but firmly. "Alright, come out of there."
"Mmmph! N-nooo..." Alice whined while pressing her face even harder into the curve of his neck as though it was a safe haven against any and all brotherly scolding. Her hands gripped his shirt as her legs squeezed around him, as she whimpered pathetically, straining against his pull while she somehow managed to look so pitiful as if she was enduring some terrible medieval torture.
"Stop being so difficult." Kaiden tugged again.
"Cruel... cruel big brother!" she whimpered while refusing to budge. Her voice broke into a comically sorrowful sob.
Finally, Kaiden exhaled through his nose and whispered in a low, commanding tone, "Alice. Listen."
It was as if he had cast a spell enforcing obedience. Instantly, her resistance melted away. Her body loosened, her head lifted, and her teary eyes shimmered as she finally looked at him.
"So dramatic..." Kaiden muttered, utterly unimpressed.
"Ehehe~" Alice giggled through her tears, the sound of which was bright and girlish, as if she had already forgotten her supposed suffering.
Kaiden pinched the bridge of his nose. "How did you even get out of prison? Mom should still be in the dungeon. She didnāt get you out."
