Chapter 740: Dispelling Darkness

After recognizing the newcomer’s identity, Keli became more vigilant.

After the wizard who had killed the caterpillars with poison clouds emerged, three more wizards followed behind him.

These people all wore the Tribunal’s black standard wizard robes. The three behind had expressionless faces, while only the first man who had helped them smiled.

“Caugust is no longer safe. You’d better leave here quickly.”

Agu and Ann stayed close to Keli’s side.

Having learned much about etiquette while following Grand Duke Kila these past two years, Keli stepped forward and bowed to the Tribunal members.

“Hello, I am first-rank wizard Keli. May I ask how to address you, sir?”

The man opposite smiled amiably. “No need for such formality. I’m Shadu, a second-rank wizard from the Tribunal, here on orders to investigate Caugust City.”

Agu stepped forward. “Excuse me, sir, what happened in Caugust City? Why did these monsters suddenly appear?”

Shadu shook his head. “We just arrived and aren’t particularly clear on the situation either. But seeing what’s happening in the city…”

He pointed to the distant terrifying sight of branches still waving in mid-air.

“This is probably no longer something we can handle. I’ll report to the Tribunal and request a third-rank wizard to come deal with it.”

Then he said to Keli, “There are still magical fluctuations underground. There should be more than just these monsters. We’d better leave first.”

After speaking, Shadu waved his hand, and two wizards behind him stepped forward, seemingly intent on forcibly taking Keli away regardless of her wishes.

At this moment, Ann, who had been silent, suddenly tugged at Keli’s sleeve. “You should leave with the Tribunal sir first. I’ll stay here to wait for master to come out.”

After these five beams shot into the sky, they suddenly made a sharp turn and headed toward Caugust in the center.

The beams entered Caugust’s inner city without obstruction, completely unimpeded by the isolation barrier outside.

But once all the red light entered the inner city, all the phenomena in the sky disappeared.

As if those five magnificent beams had just been for show.

Although knowing she had only helped draw an auxiliary magic formation, such minimal commotion still made Keli somewhat doubt what use the formations Saul had her set up actually had.

The other three Tribunal wizards simply said nothing, standing quietly to the side.

Before long, Ann also emerged from the town.

Before coming out, she had already observed Keli’s situation and found the atmosphere seemed normal.

Obviously, even if the Tribunal wizards suspected the light beams were related to Keli, they hadn’t actually made things difficult for them.

Ann composed herself and ran over.

Saul’s second entry into the Inverted Tree was completely different from his first low-key approach.

He flew forward through the pitch-black city, and wherever he passed, houses collapsed, streetlights broke, and the shadows in the darkness that were swept by the whooshing sound of Saul’s flight immediately screamed and turned to dust.

These shadows were struck as if by heavy blows, all nailed in place. No matter how the Inverted Tree’s branches drove them, they refused to move another step.

Behind Saul, such scenes were everywhere.

Sensing Herman’s location, he immediately turned toward a high-rise building to the side.

As he approached, the dark building shed its surface like skin, returning to its original branch form.

Cocoons hanging from the branches with only heads exposed swayed gently, the heads also swaying left and right.

The branches swayed, and the cocoons kept hitting the trunk, making “thump, thump, thump, thump…” sounds.

The high-rise swayed as if mocking.

This underground world built over decades wasn’t so easily dismantled.

Just then, five red beams of light suddenly descended from the world’s apex, the horizon.

These five beams were like dawn, completely tearing through the darkness.

When the five became one, they were like a newborn sun.

The sun thunderously poured into Saul’s body as he floated in the air.

Fate lines suddenly began moving, weaving new story threads.

Saul’s body instantly became a mass of entangled transparent threads, radiating light under the red beams.

Light tore through darkness—high-rises, monsters, and shadows could not block it.

Devastating in its power.

Light completely illuminated this black city. Heaven and earth reversed, and the surroundings once again revealed the Inverted Tree’s appearance.

With perception no longer hindered, Saul accelerated again, finally spotting the mentally exhausted Herman on a branch at the edge.

Herman squinted and finally saw Saul clearly, showing a smile on his face but unable to say a word.

He reached into his chest and pulled out a dark red seed.

As soon as the seed appeared, it emanated powerful mental fluctuations.

Both real and false auras appeared on it simultaneously, quite contradictory.

Saul took the seed and carefully sealed it in his right palm.

Now, he too could enter the tree heart space.

Saul grabbed the weakened Herman.

Then Herman transformed into a black light and disappeared into the diary that suddenly appeared in his palm.

Saul closed the pages with a “snap.”
