Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Could It Be Him?
His face turned from pale to green, then from green to purple, before he collapsed to his knees with a PLOP, clutching his groin. A shriek like a pig being slaughtered echoed through the hall. Every man present felt a chill run down his spine and subconsciously clenched his legs.
Are they... broken?
Everyone was stunned. No one had expected Chen Xiao to be so despicable and shameless as to resort to such a dirty trick.
After that kick, could Liu Yitong still be considered a man?
Chen Xiao casually retracted his foot. Seeing Liu Yitong kneeling there, red-faced and holding his crotch, the other members of Dragon Soul hurried over to help him. Xu Yanran was especially anxious, scurrying over to support him. She walked with a peculiar awkwardness that made Chen Xiao want to laugh.
Liu Yitong was drenched in cold sweat, his expression agonized. "Quick... help me up and get me to a hospital!"
Xu Yanran glared at Chen Xiao and scolded, "Youâre despicable and shameless!"
Chen Xiao shrugged indifferently. "I already went easy on him. Otherwise, his yolks would be scrambled by now. And donât go around bragging about being some Dragon Soul elite anymore. You canât even win when you gang up on me, yet you have the nerve to call me despicable?"
"You..." Xu Yanranâs eyebrows shot up in fury.
"You what?" Chen Xiao sneered, raising an eyebrow. "Youâd better hurry to the hospital, too. Those two lumps of yours are already pretty big. If they swell up, wonât they look deformed?"
How can he be so vulgar! That was her peach-perfect rear she had worked so hard to sculpt! How could it be deformed?
"Shameless!" she seethed.
"Chen Xiao, youâve made an enemy of us today! Just you wait!"
"Suit yourself." Chen Xiao laughed dismissively. "Next time I catch you, Iâll beat you to a pulp."
Lu Wushuang stifled her laughter, forcing a pained expression onto her face. "Everyone, I am so sorry. My junior brother doesnât know his own strength. Alas, I did try to warn you... Letâs all just take a step back and let this go. I didnât expect you to insist on sparring with him."
The Dragon Soul members were speechless.
Was this woman deliberately rubbing salt in the wound?
No wonder she hadnât tried to stop them earlier. She knew all along how formidable Chen Xiao was. And to think, they had mistaken her inaction for fear of them... But now, they had no choice but to swallow this bitter pill.
Xu Yanran glared at Chen Xiao again. "If anything happens to Brother Liu, youâll be responsible!"
"Oh no, Iâm not into men," Chen Xiao said with a grin. "Then again... maybe I could ask around the gay community if anyoneâs into his type of âmacho manâ?"
A few chuckles broke out in the crowd. Even Zhang Yaqing had a hard time stifling a smile.
How can this guyâs mouth be so vicious?
"Just you wait!" Liu Yitong clutched his groin, not daring to linger. He shot one last venomous glare at Chen Xiao before being helped away in a pathetic state by his companions.
Xu Yanran remained behind, wishing she could rush forward and tear Chen Xiao into a thousand pieces.
Chen Xiao shrugged. "I was doing you a favor with that kick. Itâll save you from being scammed for your money and affection."
"What do you mean by that?" Xu Yanran demanded angrily. "Brother Liu is the pride of Dragon Soul, and heâs my savior! I wonât allow you to insult his character!"
Chen Xiao smiled playfully. "And how are you so sure heâs really your savior?"
"If it wasnât him, who was it? You?" Xu Yanran retorted, agitated. "Besides Brother Liu, who else in all of Yuncheng City could defeat Jiang Tiannan so easily? Remember this: if anything truly happens to Brother Liu, I will stop at nothing to get justice for him!"
With that, she stormed off.
"Sheâs got a screw loose," Chen Xiao muttered, dismissing her completely.
As Xu Yanran walked away, she grew angrier with every step. She couldnât believe she had been bested by that bastard Chen Xiao. Not only had she been spanked in public, but Liu Yitong had also gotten his balls busted...
Suddenly, her eyes widened.
Chen Xiao has hidden his strength so well... Itâs even greater than mine and Liu Yitongâs... And whatâs more, when I was describing how Liu Yitong saved me, I never mentioned that my rescuer was wearing a mask... So why did he ask how I could be so sure it was Liu Yitong? Could it be... him?
The more she thought, the more her mind spun into chaos.
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!" Xu Yanran was startled by her own sudden thought.
How could I even entertain such a preposterous idea?
That guy is so sleazy and arrogant. How could he possibly be the same person as the cool, mysterious hero who saved me that night, a man completely unmoved by beauty? This guy must be talking nonsense! Heâs just trying to drive a wedge between Brother Liu and me...
Xu Yanran huffed coldly.
With the departure of Xu Yanran and her group, the venue gradually became lively again. Many guests started approaching Chen Xiao to offer him toasts. They were well aware that with a titan like President Lu backing him, Chen Xiao could make a name for himself in Yuncheng City with a single word from her. Furthermore, his overwhelming victory against the Dragon Soul members had showcased his extraordinary ability. Chen Xiao, however, reluctantly accepted their insincere compliments, his face a mask of boredom.
Suddenly, someone rushed in from outside, sweating profusely. "President Lu," he said anxiously, "someone is trying to force their way into the banquet! Theyâre too strongâwe canât stop them!"
"Who is it?" Lu Wushuang frowned.
"President Lu, itâs been a long time since we last met in Jinling." Before the subordinate could answer, a hearty laugh rang out as a young man strode into the room. He had rugged features, a buzz cut, and a tall, muscular build. His eyes held a wild glint, and the men trailing behind him looked like trouble.
"Jiang Tianyi!" Lu Wushuangâs expression turned grim at the sight of the newcomer.
Jiang Tianyi strode forward and sat down across from her, taking an imposing posture. He spoke slowly, "President Lu, you must know why Iâve suddenly come to Yuncheng City, donât you?"
Lu Wushuang set down her wine glass. "What does that have to do with me?"
"Heh," Jiang Tianyi chuckled, a sinister smile on his face. "My Jiang Familyâs pawns in Yuncheng City have been eliminated, and they died under mysterious circumstances. My family wonât let this go. It would be best for everyone if I donât find out who did it. Otherwise... not even the gods will be able to save them!"
Lu Wushuangâs expression was impassive. "Young Master Jiang, if someone killed your men, then go and deal with them yourself. Donât come here and throw a tantrum. I donât appreciate people venting their emotions in my presence."
"Apologies, apologies..." Jiang Tianyi said with a smile that didnât reach his eyes, lighting a cigarette. "By the way, I just arrived in Yuncheng City today. I came to tell you that my Jiang Family intends to expand into Yuncheng City and bring all its factions under our control."
"If youâre interested in joining us, President Lu, as the leader of Yuncheng Cityâs three great powers, perhaps youâd like to set an example for the others?"
