Chapter 119: Chapter 119 How will you repay me?
Ten oâclock at night, Wind Chime Ferry.
A gigantic, brightly lit cruise ship was docked at the harbor. Lavishly decorated, it emanated faint, decadent music that drew the gazes of countless onlookers. The ship was already bustling with activity.
In the crowd, Jiang Tianquan stood shoulder to shoulder with a young man in a suit, surrounded by sycophants fawning over them.
In a remote corner of the venue, Zhu Baixi sat alone at a table, maintaining an elegant, low profile. She held a glass of red wine, the liquid making her red lips even more captivating. Though many menâs gazes fell upon her, no one dared to approach, as she was surrounded by several bodyguards watching like hawks. As whispers circulated, the crowd learned she was the Jiang Family Headâs new wife, causing all the men who had been entertaining ideas to immediately retract their gazes.
Just then, everyoneâs attention was drawn to a new arrival.
Zhang Yaqing made a high-profile entrance in a black gown. Her enchanting face and formidable aura instantly made her the center of attention.
Zhu Baixiâs gaze also settled on this young woman, who possessed not only youth but also exceptional beauty and grace. After their eyes met for a moment, they both tacitly looked away.
Jiang Tianquan strode over. "Miss Zhang, I didnât expect you to grace us with your presence tonight. This is truly a surprise."
"Young Master Jiang personally invited me. How could I refuse?"
Jiang Tianquan smiled, but it didnât reach his eyes. "The Jiang and Liao families are honored by your presence. However, there are many outsiders at tonightâs gala, so you must be careful. A woman of your unparalleled beauty should be wary of those with malicious intent."
To this day, the Jiang Family still hadnât managed to fully extend their influence into Yuncheng City. Their largest obstacles were the forces of Lu Wushuang and the Zhang Family.
Zhang Yaqing responded without showing any weakness. "If anything were to happen to me, my grandfather would not let it go easily. This is the Jiang Familyâs home turf. If something happens to me here, Young Master Jiang, you will be held responsible."
Suddenly, a silvery voice rang out. "Sister Yaqing, youâre here too?!"
Zhang Yaqing turned to see an excited Li Biyun running over. Chen Xiao was right behind her. Zhang Yaqing smiled at him. "I didnât expect you to come. Arenât you uninterested in these kinds of events?"
Chen Xiao shrugged. "Biyun wanted to come out and see the world, so I brought her out to have some fun."
Jiang Tianquanâs face immediately darkened. "How did you get in here?" he asked menacingly.
Chen Xiao smiled nonchalantly. "I paid to get in, of course. Is there a problem with me bringing my little sister out to see the world?"
Jiang Tianquan sneered. "Of course not. In that case, I hope you have a pleasant time."
As he turned to leave, a vicious glint flashed in his eyes.
Zhu Baixiâs seductive, peach-blossom eyes scrutinized Chen Xiao. Noticing the bevy of beautiful women around him, she felt an inexplicable pang of jealousy. She took a sip of her red wine, suppressing the strange emotions stirring within her.
Chen Xiao noticed Zhu Baixi as well.
But why do I see a hint of jealousy and anger in her eyes?
Zhu Baixi coldly averted her gaze.
Li Biyunâs eyes, as clear as a fawnâs, curiously surveyed her surroundings. She usually lived a secluded life and was well-protected by the Li Family. Having never attended such a social event, she found everything new and fascinating.
Zhang Yaqing explained, "Iâve looked into this ship, the *Alice*. The owner is a family from Yang Country, the Watanabe Clan. Although the Jiang and Liao families are the hosts in name tonight, the real power behind the scenes are those from Yang Country."
"Tickets for tonightâs late-night ball started at 200,000. On top of that, theyâre holding several gambling events inside, so theyâll likely make a huge profit."
Xu Yanranâs eyes showed undisguised disgust. "Itâs one thing for these People of Yang Country to come to our Divine Land, but now they want to fleece us for our money? Disgusting! And the Jiang Family... colluding with the People of Yang Country? They deserve to die!"
Chen Xiao said coolly, "Doesnât this just prove that our suspicions were correct?"
"Thatâs true..." Xu Yanran muttered. "We have to get something on them tonight!"
Zhang Yaqing smiled mischievously. "Are you two hiding something from me?"
"Donât worry about it," Chen Xiao said. "Just be ready to run when I tell you to."
Zhang Yaqing nodded. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. "Chen Xiao, I think I see your icy wife over there."
Xu Yanran also looked surprised. "Huh? That really is Qingli, and Auntie Li is with her."
Chen Xiao glanced over and saw Luo Qingli and Li Sufang walking in. They were with a mother and son, and the four of them were laughing and talking. However, they didnât notice Chen Xiaoâs group in the corner and headed straight up the stairs to the second floor.
Xu Yanran asked, "Should we go up and say hello?"
Chen Xiao shook his head. "Forget it."
He genuinely did not want to come face-to-face with Li Sufang, that materialistic woman.
Zhang Yaqing gave him a strange look. "You know the second floor is a casino, right?"
"Donât worry, sheâs not the gambling type," Chen Xiao said, feeling relatively confident about Luo Qingli.
Just then, his phone buzzed. He glanced at the message, then stood up and said to the women, "I need to use the restroom."
He walked toward the restrooms, but at the last moment, he turned and entered a small, hidden storage room in the farthest corner of the cruise ship.
A few minutes later, the door opened, and Zhu Baixi strolled in gracefully.
Chen Xiao raised an eyebrow. "I didnât expect you to dare meet me here. Arenât you afraid of being discovered?"
"Isnât it more thrilling this way?" Zhu Baixi replied as she closed the door behind her.
Chen Xiao lit a cigarette. "How much more thrilling do you want it to be?"
Zhu Baixi said lightly, "I have the information you wanted. So, how will you repay me?"
"Isnât this a transaction?" Chen Xiao laughed. "Why does it feel like I owe you something?"
Zhu Baixi sneered, folding her arms across her chest. "Chen Xiao, youâre gravely mistaken if you think tonightâs ball is so simple."
"The cruise ship has already sailed from the shore. That means everyone on board is now in the stronghold of Jiang Tianquan and those People of Yang Country."
"This time, Jiang Tianquan isnât just trying to covertly hand over the goods. Heâs already laid an inescapable net here to eliminate obstacles like you in one fell swoop!"
"Without my help, do you think you can protect those beautiful confidantes of yours?"
Chen Xiao narrowed his eyes. "Jiang Tianquan... heâd dare to do that?"
Zhu Baixi scoffed. "Of course he wouldnât do it openly, but he has a hundred ways to get himself off the hook! As long as the risk is far outweighed by the reward, what wouldnât he dare to do?"
