Chapter 1024: Chapter 1022: Finding a Shortcut
Each of them had made their own gains, and once they had filled the required quota, Wufu and the others stopped wandering around Cloud Tower. As she put it, "Just enough is good; donāt drop the watermelon while picking up sesame seedsābeing like a monkey picking corn is unacceptable behavior."
"Young Master Xiao Wu, what do you mean by a monkey picking corn?" Tie Yong asked curiously.
Wufu simply told the story and left everyone to ponder and understand the lesson on their own.
"You have a good mindset, Xiao Wu," Master Gui complimented.
Wufu giggled, found a spot to sit down, and prepared to leave at dawn.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Yang Yibin coming down from upstairs. Wufu squinted slightly and asked with a smile, "Has Young Master Yang gained anything?"
Seeing them each holding something, Yang Yibinās expression was complicated beyond words, resembling envy, jealousy, and a bit of reluctance, as if those things were his but had been taken by others.
"Just a weapon, thatās all." Yang Yibin raised the short knife in his hand.
Wufu said, "Congratulations. Weāre leaving tomorrow, Young Master Yang..."
"Youāre not planning on leaving me behind, are you?" Yang Yibin was shocked. "We agreed to leave together."
"Are you sure?"
Yang Yibin nodded vigorously. Heād have to be crazy not to be sure. This group was obviously very capable, and following them out was beneficial without any downsides.
"As long as you donāt regret it!" Wufu said meaningfully.
Yang Yibinās pupils contracted slightly, as he tried to discern the meaning in her eyes. But then Wufu said to Ah Jiu, "Iām going to find the old man to see if thereās a shortcut we can take to get out faster. I donāt want to go through another life-or-death situation."
Ah Jiu hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Iāll go with you."
The two walked away slowly, while the others stayed to rest.
"Shortcut? Thereās none!" The white-bearded old man lazily leaned against a wooden bed and snorted coldly, "You come in the way you go out, all depending on your skills! What, you had the skills to come here but none to leave?"
"Do you want the Fiery Burning Knife?" Wufu didnāt respond to his question and lazily replied instead.
"Fiery Burning Knife?" The white-bearded old man immediately sat up and looked at her.
Wufu said, "Itās the wine you took, called Fiery Burning Knife, which I brewed."
"Youāre lying to me." The white-bearded old man looked her up and down. "What does a little girl like you know about brewing wine, especially such strong stuff?"
"The world is full of talent. Whatās strange about me knowing? Youāve secluded yourself here, not knowing whatās happening out there doesnāt mean there arenāt changes."
The white-bearded old man frowned.
"For instance, do you know where the traitor of Cloud Fort is? Do you know who he is?" Wufu continued.
The white-bearded old manās eyes immediately sharpened as he asked, "Is he here too?"
Wufu shrugged, saying nothing.
The white-bearded old man lay back down, closed his eyes, and said, "What does Cloud Fortās affairs have to do with me? Iām practically a dying man; a bunch of useless people canāt even find a person, should make way sooner."
"Is that so, sorry to bother you." Wufu turned to leave.
"Hold on." The voice came again from behind, "I donāt care about people, but not about the wine. Bring a hundred jars, and Iāll tell you."
"Old man, I got here with skills, and I can leave with skills too." Wufu chuckled. "Wine also costs to transport, ten jars."
The white-bearded old man glared, ready to speak, but Wufu added, "If I get unhappy, I might just stop brewing altogether and let it vanish."
"You!" The white-bearded old man turned his back in anger, saying nothing.
Wufu and Ah Jiu exchanged glances, ready to leave, when the old manās voice came again from behind, "Tomorrow morning, wait at the door for me."
