Lan Xuanyu smiled faintly. “I’m sorry, Elder Shu, but I have to do this. If I don’t, we may never get another chance.”

“You’ll wait here for seven days,” Lan Xuanyu said gravely. “If, after seven full Celestial Dragon days, you haven’t received a message from me, you must immediately return to the fleet. Don’t linger.”

Everyone looked at him silently, wanting to speak but holding their tongues.

Lan Xuanyu smiled faintly. “Don’t worry. Have I ever done anything without confidence? This time it’s dangerous, yes—but the odds are still in our favor.”

Then, after a moment’s pause, he turned to Tang Yuge. “If—just if—I can’t come back, you must tell Uncle Le not to act rashly. And tell him… I love them all.”

With that, he turned and strode away, afraid that if he stayed any longer, he might change his mind.

Everyone watched in silence as his starfighter launched into the skies and vanished from view.

The atmosphere aboard the warship grew heavy.

Qian Lei slammed his fist against the wall, his voice trembling with anger. “If we were strong enough, we wouldn’t have to do this! Dragon Knights or not, we’d just crush them!”

Tang Yuge said solemnly, “Words won’t make us stronger. Xuanyu’s carrying too much on his shoulders already. If we want to help him, we have to grow stronger ourselves. Elder Shu, please release several of the plant seniors to assist our cultivation. We’ll train nonstop for these seven days.
