Chapter 842: Signal
It was the third ânightâ when they decided to move out again, as they soaked in the hot springs for even slightly longer.
As Wu Long said, they started to feel all of their Seven Roots being nourished at about the 18th hour mark, and it kept going for another 8 hours.
While all of them had benefited, the biggest beneficiaries were Wu Long and Gong Liwei, as both of them had lower talent, and thus for them this was an even more meaningful treasure, which would ensure a smoother cultivation going into the Seven Profound Realms, where the Seven Roots played a key role.
And of course, as a Dual Cultivator, Wu Long benefited massively from his Harmonic Root being enhanced with the miraculous natural treasureâs effects.
They rose from the springs and after wiping their bodies wore their clothes.
The water in all the pools, not only the ones they were soaking in, started emitting slightly less light green glowing particles by this time, but was still visibly full of beneficial effects. It was just that their bodies became saturated, no longer absorbing anything.
âIs this why we didnât undergo Heavenly Tribulations before? To ensure we could obtain benefits only those in Nine Mortal Realms could?â, Gong Liwei asked as she heard from Wu Long that taking some of the water was not going to do anything, as the water was simply a catalyst for the unique Spiritual Spot, adding that even if they could take it with them Gong Cui would not benefit from it.
âPartiallyâ, Wu Long replied, âBut the main reason is that by advancing ahead of time you will be cutting your time inside the realm short. Once you advance, after about half a day, the Realm will expel you to the outside worldâ
âSo most participants who are confident in their strength will only advance on the final dayâ, Hong Yue nodded with a pondering look.
âYesâ, he confirmed, âAfter which, almost immediately, the final battle for the main treasure will begin at the plateauâ
âFrom here on out we will be meeting other participants as well, right?â, Cai Yin slightly nervously added.
âYes, but you donât need to worry too much. I will handle most things. Your purpose in coming here is to undergo Heavenly Tribulations as well as seek out lucky chancesâ, Wu Long spoke in a reassuring tone, since they were getting slightly too side-tracked into thinking they had to perform tasks here, or were specifically here to train their skills.
Cai Yin and Hong Yue had a look of realization, as they indeed veered off into the mindset of having to âperform wellâ.
Gong Liwei did not have that problem though, as she very clearly realized her position of someone with only ordinary strength for her cultivation. She was not weaker than an average cultivator at the peak of Nine Mortal Realms, but wasnât particularly strong either. Thus she knew exactly her purpose here.
Even if she had hopes of encountering something that would help her evolve her chosen path further, she was realistic about it, and did not expect it to happen for certain. Thus, she was content just following them in this adventure until time came to undergo Heavenly Tribulation.
They departed from the cave, and just as expected, at the noon of the fourth day, Wu Long started detected presences of cultivators in far off distance, as they already left the midpoint between the Southern edge of the continent and the Emerald Falls Cityâs plateau behind them, now entering the territories being explored by the others.
That said, even if this was a battle royal of sorts with the survival of the fittest, Wu Long didnât have the mindset of killing off anyone who entered his view, or even fighting over every bit of the treasures, only those that interested his group.
He also recognized the right of the people who discovered and obtained something first, as lucky chances were called that for a reason, not seeing a reason to start robbing people of what they found in the Secret Realm so far.
In other words, he only aimed at contesting for treasures that were yet to have an owner, as was the general accepted rule among cultivators.
This, was clearly not the mindset everyone had, as he did notice a couple of groups which clashed with anyone they met regardless if there was something to fight for.
But it was par for the course, as the general rule he did observe was quite often ignored by a certain contingent of cultivators he wasnât that fond of, but tolerated for the most part as long as they did not cross his path.
Regardless, Wu Long continued in the same manner, collecting Alchemy ingredients and Forging materials left and right.
At one point though, a wave of Spiritual Qi spread as a pillar of light rose a bit away.
âInterestingâŠâ, Wu Longâs eyes narrowed at that, as he sensed every group that he could detect suddenly rush toward that direction, âThis reaction⊠someone opened up an ancient ruinâ
âAn ancient ruin? Doesnât this Secret Realm only exist within the short moment of the solar alignment?â, Gong Liwei asked.
âMmâ, Wu Long nodded, speculating âThough it may be that an ancient ruin that originally exists on the Emerald Falls Continent at that spot was connected to the existence of this Secret Realm, and thus has a secret part of the ruin hidden within itâ
âAre we going?â, Hong Yue asked.
âYes, letâs go checkâ, Wu Long nodded, as this gave off a feeling of something worth looking into.
They moved toward the light that still shone brightly into the sky, gathering attention from even those far away.
Wu Long chuckled at the young cultivators who didnât make any precautions against this type of situation ahead of fiddling with something like an ancient ruin.
Then again, such methods were only circulating in the higher worlds so perhaps even experienced cultivators in the Boundless Profound World would not know to do that.
As they flew in the flying formation they used in the beginning, they actually reached the entrance to the ancient ruin ahead of most who rushed here, only falling behind those who were within short distance.
There was a hole in a seemingly normal terrain, where the light came from, and as they flew into it, they could see a large underground complex of stone temple-like structures, most of them buried in the surrounding stone walls, though they were once likely on the surface.
âAn opening signalâ, Wu Long nodded with recognition, seeing a large square plate which had a glowing pattern, creating that beam of light upward. It was on the floor before the main entrance to the only intact-looking structure which further parts also went into the cave wall, long-buried.
âIs it something common?â, Cai Yin asked.
Hong Yue was the one who answered, âI donât know if itâs common or not, but we had that as well at the Bahshi Assassination Group. It was linked to the entrance of the treasury, so that it can only be opened officially, and cannot be accessed in secretâ
âT-treasury?â, Gong Liwei widened her eyes, understanding the implications.
âYes, that and other important places requiring authorization, that are also rarely accessedâ, Wu Long nodded, confirming the realization.
I hope everyone has a great day!
