She stood among the group of female attendants, and felt like her ears were falling off from their gossip and chatter. She struggled for a whole month, but was finally reaching her limit.
Just then, a man in a mask walked out of one of the two side-entrance passages, looking around like someone not familiar with the place. She didnāt know why, but she felt this was it. She always listened to her instincts, and they were telling her he was it. Her ticket out of being surrounded by this endless yapping of meaningless shallow conversations that threatened to drive her crazy if she stayed around them for another hour, or even half that.
āLuckyā, was her thought when their gossipy voices revealed they didnāt think it was a good client. No one wanted to step forward, at least for now. Some of them were enticed, but only after āmaking him cluelessly bumble around a bit moreā. They were bored. They craved some entertainment. She saw it many times before.
She, however, didnāt want to waste another second, perhaps partly fearing this opportunity would slip away. She stepped forward, inwardly smirking, āBy the time they notice it will be too lateā
However, as soon as she took a step toward him, she felt a shudder go through her entire being, and then an unthinkable happened - the senior attendant in charge of mentoring her called out to her from behind.
āH-how?ā, in a split moment, shorter than even a nanosecond her entire being became hyper-aware of everything, and time after that stretched out, second by second as she walked, as she couldnāt understand how someone could detect her presence, much less moving, when she didnāt want anyone to notice her. This happened for the first time.
This state of intense focus allowed her to very soon find the reason - it was her bloodline. The source of much of her confidence and power. The instinct hidden within that bloodline alerted her about another powerful bloodline - unbelievably, but perhaps even comparable to her own - being present nearby.
This shock disrupted the flow of her Qi, allowing even someone like the senior attendant to detect her presence.
As soon as she understood that she couldnāt contain her shock and made a big mistake - she froze on the spot. She still managed to control her expression, but she gave away the fact she noticed it. Perhaps even her disguise was already seen through.
āShitā, while not showing a single outward sign, her entire being began winding up, getting ready for whatever danger awaited.
And then a miracle - luckily for her the dumb women thought she froze up because of nerves. She played along.
No one attacked, she didnāt even detect any danger. But she knew instinctively that the owner of that powerful bloodline was still nearby.
She approached the plain mask guy.
From there it all went smoothly for some reason, the start of the conversation, even the feeling of the bloodline reaction receded, it seemed the crisis passed her by. She couldnāt relax yet, but saw possibility nothing was going to happen.
And then he looked at her and spoke in a certain way. She didnāt even need to look at him when it happened, she felt it.
āTsk! This guyās up to no good... I guess Iāll have to ditch him. Ugh... I was so close to getting away from them...ā, she inwardly clicked her tongue in irritation and then groaned in frustration and unwillingness as she thought about returning to the chatter hell. But she didnāt have any intentions of continuing to guide this guy. If he tried something she might instinctively kill him, and she couldnāt cause a ruckus here. She thought about her disguise with some resentment toward the man, while feigning being bashful and very subtly rejecting any advances, āUgh... just why...? You were supposed to be my savior from them... I didnāt pick an ugly look to not be rejected, but thereās prettier girls around... are you really that desperate? Or did I look easy to get?ā
But he suddenly laughed as his demeanor changed. She didnāt believe his words about just teasing, but thought he was at least not a creep who kept making advances after being rejected. She still had no thoughts of continuing to guide him, searching for an opportunity to blurt out something that would get her into mild trouble with him or make him upset, but not too serious.
And just as if arranged, he gave her the opportunity. When he greeted her colleagues and she saw their reactions she thought they were truly braindead. And thatās when she made her āoopsā comment about womanizing.
The bastard dared to take it as a compliment. She blurted out about being humble, and was shocked - this one she didnāt need to act, it came out of her on itās own, so-called naturally.
But he simply laughed in amusement.
āIs this guy alright in the head?ā, was her thought as she looked at him. Just then she remembered she still didnāt ask him where he wanted to go despite already leading him somewhere. At this point, she also had a new plan - to lead him some distance away and try to ditch him there, so she could get rid of him and not return to the other attendants for at least a short time - a double win.
"Wu Long"
She almost stumbled, it wasnāt an act.
āOut of all names... this guyās really something... wait... is that why heās behaving that way around women?ā, suddenly she felt an urge to laugh, just barely holding it in, instead satisfying her need by inwardly drowning in laughter, āHah! Hahaha! Ahahaha! This guy thinks he "can be the God of Pleasure tonight" as long as no one sees his face and he acts all confident and flirty around women! This is just such a masterpiece! Ahahaha! Oof~ I need to calm down, hehehe, thatās just too funny. This guy? Kehehe~ THIS GUY?! Playing pretend is one thing, but the character he chose is THE God of Pleasure, Wu Long?! Bwahahaha! Whew~, welp at least now I have a funny story to tell later~ā
She tried her best to keep a straight face as she asked what his goal in visiting was, and then, hearing his answer, felt he really was a lucky chance for her. When he confidently insisted heās going to be let through to the inner main plaza, she once again began laughing inside since she heard it in his voice of āpretending to be the God of Pleasureā, which made everything he said infinitely more funny.
She wasnāt even mad about him doing an impression of THAT āWu Longā. She was just too entertained.
