POV 1: Dyug â Inner Vault Chamber, Deep Below Antarctica
The Vaultâs obsidian doors creaked open, breathing ancient, magical air into Dyugâs lungs. He stepped forward slowly, hand clasped firmly in Maryâs. The silence inside was totalâso pure it hurt. There was no light source, yet the air shimmered, revealing walls pulsing faintly with blue veins of moonstone.
It wasnât just a chamber.
The walls shimmered with crystalline veins of moonstone, pulsing softly with every heartbeatâhis heartbeat.
It was
alive
.
âIt feels like⊠me,â Dyug whispered.
Mary nodded. âBecause it
is
. This isnât a memory vault made by the elves. Itâs
you
. A part of you, buried by Lunaâs blessing or curse.â
He swallowed hard. The path ahead rippled like liquid stone, constantly reshaping. One moment it was a corridor, the next a lush forest clearing from his childhood, then a royal courtroom lined with shadows of judging queens.
From one of those shadows stepped a girlâblonde-haired, golden-eyed, armored like a Sun Knight. A
younger Mary
.
âYou betrayed her,â she said, voice flat.
âI would never.â
The reflection grinned with jagged teeth.
âYou will,â she said coldly. âUnless you prove otherwise.â
Before Dyug could speak, the illusion shattered into gold dust, evaporating into silence.
Mary placed a hand over his racing heart. âThese arenât attacks. Theyâre truths twisted by fear. We donât fight the Vault. We walk through it.â
POV 2: Jamie Lancaster â Perimeter Ridge Outside the Vault, Antarctica
Outside the Vault, far above, Jamie approached the distorted ridge that served as its outer seal. Snow had stopped falling, the clouds above frozen mid-twist in unnatural shapes.
Reina whispered, âThis isnât normal reality. The closer we get, the more physics breaks.â
Jamie checked her artifactâa crystalline relic recovered from the elven-controlled southern barrens. It pulsed with erratic heat, then cold, as though confused by the very air.
âIt's distorting cause,â Jamie muttered. âTime, memory, logicâthey donât follow here.â
"It's rewriting the laws," Reina said. "This place doesn't just repel timeâit rewrites cause."
Jamie narrowed her eyes. âThen itâs time to break some rules.â
She unsheathed her blade. Not a sword, but a weapon built on Earth, forged in secret Indian labs that studied Dyug during his capture after the first invasion in South China Seaâdesigned to pierce magical fabric.
She sliced downward through the air.
Reality
flinched
.
POV 3: Dyug â Memory Hall, Inside the Vault
Inside, Dyug and Mary found a new chamber. A dais. Seated atop itâ
himself
. Or rather, the idealized version of himself. Young, proud, untouched by war.
âHello, Me,â the real Dyug said softly.
âI was you once,â the echo replied. âYou wanted to be great. Remember?â
âI remember wanting to be free.â
âHmm is that so,â the reflection said. âYou were once me. Now youâre... broken.â
âI was never whole,â Dyug replied. âBut Iâm learning.â
âNo. You wanted to be remembered.â The echo stepped forward, eyes glowing. âBut memory isnât kind. It reshapes. It lies. It imprisons.â
The chamber darkened. Another voice emergedâfrom nowhere. From the walls.
âThis is what the Entity feeds upon. Your truth distorted. The Vault is a songâit echoes only what you fear the most.â
Mary turned, suddenly clutching her side. Blood.
âMaryâ!â
She shook her head. âNo wounds. Just... echoes. Echoes of what could happen.â She smiled weakly. âDonât believe them. Remember me as I am, not as the Vault says.â
The reflection smiled. âThen letâs see what you remember.â
It hurled a spearâhis old war spear, the one from the day he led the South China Sea invasion.
Dyug didnât dodge.
He stepped forward.
The weapon passed through him like light through mist.
Mary exhaled in relief. âYou didnât reject your past. You accepted it.â
The chamber shifted again.
A staircase spiraled downward, etched in memory and stone.
On the wall:
"Those who are remembered must walk the longest."
Dyug nodded.
Together, they descended.
POV 4: Solomon Kane â Snow-Split Plateau Near the Vault, Antarctica
Kneeling beside the vaultâs outer edge, Solomon trembled.
Reina touched his shoulder. âYouâre freezing. You need toââ
âI remember,â Solomon whispered, eyes distant.
Jamie leaned in. âWhat do you mean?â
His voice was soft. âThe first Vault wasnât sealed. It was
forgotten
. Hidden through magic and trauma. We didnât trap the Entity. We
lost the memory of it
.â
Reinaâs face paled. âYouâre saying memory is the key?â
âNo. Iâm saying someone is
picking the lock
.â
POV 5: Queen Elara â High Sanctum of the Crescent Palace, Forestia
Deep within the Elven homeland, Queen Elara stood within a ritual circle of black lunar ash, surrounded by priestesses chanting sacred invocations. Her eyes shimmered with liquid silver. The moon above bent slightly, as though watching.
In front of her stood a great obsidian mirror.
Her reflection blinkedâand changed.
It was her, yesâbut
younger
, untouched by war or grief. And beside that younger version stood someone Elara hadnât seen in centuries:
Luna
, not as a goddess, but as a sister. Hair tied in a braid. Eyes filled with warmth instead of divinity.
âYou banished me,â the reflection said.
âYou werenât divine enough,â Elara answered.
âNo,â Lunaâs fragment said. âI was
too human
.â
Elaraâs voice didnât tremble. âThen return. The world forgot you. But the Vault hasnât.â
The mirror cracked.
POV 6: Dyug â Final Descent Chamber, Core of the Vault
At the bottom of the staircase, Dyug reached a chamber wreathed in shadow. Floating within itâan echo of himself.
But this one wore a silver crown. His features were crueler. Sharper.
âWho are you?â
The crowned echo smiled. âThe part of you that
remembers what you wanted
before love changed you. Power. Throne. Legacy.â
Mary stepped forward, sword half-drawn. âHeâs not you anymore.â
Dyug shook his head. âNo... Heâs who I could have been.â
And as the shadow version opened its eyes, the Vault trembled.
POV 7:
Unnamed Mercenary â Ruined Coastline, Antarctic Southern Reach
Far away, on Antarcticaâs ruined shores, the
Black Sun Mercenaries
huddled around a fire. The ice behind them cracked.
A
High Priestess of the Abyss
emerged, eyes glowing violet.
She placed her hand against the cave wall.
Across the world, the Vault reacted.
The shadow of Dyug rose.
And
it remembered
.
