In truth, Ye Tian was fighting back the urge to vomit as he forced himself to search for the Inner Core. He had heard Ye Feifei say how valuable a Demon Beast Core was, and he planned to sell it to pay her back for the Fine Steel Sword.
"That's it! Quick, cut off some meat! I can feel other Demon Beasts approaching! The stench of blood is too strong; the mountain wind will carry it for miles," Ye Feifei said.
Knowing time was short, Ye Tian used the sword to hack off a hind leg. "Let's go! Maybe we can try roasting it later! I've never eaten Demon Beast meat before!"
The two wasted no more time and started back the way they came. However, after traveling less than half a mile, a sight that made their blood run cold stopped them in their tracks.
About half a mile ahead, a dozen pairs of glowing green eyes stared back at them. Ye Tian was all too familiar with those eyes—they belonged to Gale Wolves, visible in the dark of night.
"A pack of Gale Wolves! Feifei, run!" Ye Tian shouted, reacting instantly.
Ye Feifei hadn't expected to run into a pack, either. If they didn't run now, their lives would be forfeit. They spun around and fled as fast as they could.
Ye Tian desperately executed the Flowing Cloud Step. Although he hadn't mastered the Third Form, his recent breakthrough to the One Vein Fifth Layer had nearly doubled his speed, allowing him to keep pace with Ye Feifei.
Ye Feifei was completely shocked. 'How could his speed increase so much in a single night? It's terrifying!'

In their mad dash, the two managed to reach the dense forest, but the Gale Wolves were now only a few dozen meters behind them.
"Feifei, up ahead! There's a huge tree, one that would take several people to encircle! Let's climb it!" Ye Tian, with his sharp eyesight, shouted immediately.
Climbing such a massive tree was no easy feat, but that was only true for Ye Tian. Ye Feifei, on the other hand, knew a Light Body Technique. As nimble as a swallow, she leaped several meters into the air and landed gracefully on a thick branch.
Ye Tian, however, was in a bind. He didn't know any Light Body Technique, so he had to find another way up. Ye Feifei watched anxiously, as the Gale Wolves were just moments away from him.
Ye Tian remained calm in the face of danger. He quickly scanned his surroundings and spotted a smaller tree, about as thick as a bowl, not far from the massive one. He could use it to jump across.
Moving like a flash of lightning, he sprinted towards his chosen tree. Ye Tian's action gave Ye Feifei a terrible fright. 'Has he been scared senseless? Why pick such a slender tree? A Gale Wolf could snap that in two!'
"Ye Tian, what are you doing? Pick a bigger tree!" Ye Feifei cried out anxiously.
Ye Tian didn't listen to her, but instead climbed quickly. In a few breaths' time, he was already high up the tree, and the Gale Wolves had arrived at its base, surrounding it completely.
Ye Feifei's face turned pale with fright. 'If the Gale Wolves snap that tree, Ye Tian will fall! Won't these vicious creatures tear him to pieces?'
Just then, one of the Gale Wolves made its move. It opened its massive jaws, and a green Energy Ball shot out, hurtling toward the tree Ye Tian was on...
