Ye Tian walked over to the group of students who had advanced. He paused as he passed by Qin Xiaowan. "Are you disappointed?"
"Not at all. It just makes things more exciting! Your uniqueness only makes me more curious. Keep it up, Ye Tian! I'll catch up to you eventually!" Qin Xiaowan said in all seriousness.
"Okay, I'll wait for you! You performed very well today," Ye Tian said before walking to the back of the line.
All eyes turned to Ye Tian and Qin Xiaowan. No one had expected this guy to actually know the goddess of their dreams, which made them all intensely curious.
"See? I told you there was more to that kid, Ye Tian," Chu Hongyuan said to Zhou Xiang and Qian Xiaohao. "To think he has such a high Combat Value. He completely fooled us!"
"Brother Chu, it's your turn," Zhou Xiang said immediately. "What are you standing there dazed for? Did you get so caught up in Ye Tian's test that you forgot about your own?"
Chu Hongyuan finally snapped back to reality. The spot in front of him was empty—it was his turn to get on the platform for the test. He quickly hurried onto the stage.
"Qian Xiaohao, do you think Brother Chu can successfully advance?" Zhou Xiang asked.
"It's hard to say," Qian Xiaohao replied. "He's only at the One Vein Eighth Layer, Initial Stage. It's basically impossible for him to advance based on Combat Value. Ye Tian was likely hiding his strength; it's a different situation for him."
Chu Hongyuan now stood three meters from the stone pillar. He glanced at it, and with a flash of intent, threw a swift punch. The fist actually emitted a faint glow; clearly, the guy had a decent Martial Skill to complement his Fist Technique.
The fist landed squarely on the stone pillar, but the pillar only let out a sharp CRACK, not the resounding boom produced by Ye Tian and Qin Xiaowan. This meant his Combat Value was still under five thousand.
Chu Hongyuan felt a pang of disappointment. Wei Cheng then announced, "A decent Combat Value, 4,620. You have two more chances!"
Chu Hongyuan's expression turned grave. He prepared to unleash his prized Fist Technique one more time, circulating the Spiritual Power within his body again. If one looked closely, tiny beads of sweat could be seen on his forehead. This revealed his inner tension and his desperate desire to enter the advanced class, a stark contrast to his casual words.
This time, Chu Hongyuan retreated a few more meters, planning to use a powerful running start to add to his punch's force. He was confident that even if he didn't advance, he'd be very close.
His body blurred, leaving an afterimage as he charged the stone pillar. The light from his fist was even more intense as it slammed into its target, but the awaited sound still did not come.
The force of the recoil sent Chu Hongyuan stumbling back a dozen steps before he regained his footing. He stared intently at the screen, eager to see just how powerful his strike had been. After all, his Fist Technique was a Mid Profound-tier Martial Skill, one that was quite precious within his family.
"Combat Value: 4,913. You're just shy of the mark. You have one chance left, do you wish to take it?" Wei Cheng announced.
Chu Hongyuan shook his head. He had already consumed more than half of his Spiritual Power. Even if he could manage another punch, it wouldn't have the same force as the last one. He knew that if he wanted his Combat Value to reach five thousand, he'd have to raise his Realm by a level.
"I give up," Chu Hongyuan said. "Can I test my Talent Value now?"
Wei Cheng nodded. Chu Hongyuan went over to the screen and quickly channeled his Spiritual Power into it. A few moments later, the screen lit up with an orange glow.
Immediately after, his Talent Value appeared: 2,607. This score also failed to meet the standard for advancement. But he knew he had tried his best; he wouldn't have regrets even if he didn't make it into the advanced class.
"Your Combat Value and Talent Value are both quite good," Wei Cheng said. "There's still a chance you'll get into the advanced class. Just wait for the final results when the testing is complete."
He had been feeling a bit dejected, but now his mood suddenly lifted. Chu Hongyuan quickly descended from the platform.
"Brother Chu, you're still incredible!" said Zhou Xiang. "To have such a high Combat Value... We really underestimated you!"
"But I still didn't advance," Chu Hongyuan said. "It'll be your turn soon. Good luck! Ye Tian is waiting for us in the advanced class!"
"Don't worry, Brother Chu," said Zhou Xiang. "My Combat Value is nothing special, but I'm sure I'll pass the Talent Value test. I've always been incredibly talented. I'll be waiting for you in the advanced class!"
Soon, it was Zhou Xiang's turn. Just as he'd said, his Combat Value was a little over three thousand, an automatic failure. However, his talent test produced a green light, and his Talent Value reached over thirty-one hundred, which made him absolutely ecstatic.
"Ye Tian, we get to be in the same class again! Surprising, right?" Zhou Xiang said, walking up behind him.
"A little," Ye Tian chuckled, "but it's great that we brothers can be together!" He was genuinely happy that Zhou Xiang had advanced.
Next, it was Qian Xiaohao's turn. "Brother Chu, I'll be waiting for you in the advanced class too!"
Qian Xiaohao's Combat Value was even lower, but his Talent Value was higher than Zhou Xiang's, surprisingly reaching over thirty-five hundred. Many people were taken aback, wondering why someone with such high talent had such a low Combat Value.
Three people from their dorm room had successfully advanced, leaving only Chu Hongyuan. He felt utterly dejected. 'I originally thought I was the most likely to advance. In terms of Power Realm, I should be the highest, and my Cultivation speed is pretty good too. But now the one with the best chance has become the one with the worst.'
The testing was gradually drawing to a close, but Ye Feifei had yet to take her turn, which made her anxious. Over eighty people had already advanced. She wanted to join Ye Tian as soon as possible so she could ask him about what had happened during his test.
After another fifteen minutes or so, it was finally Ye Feifei's turn. Her appearance was, without a doubt, another major highlight. Her beauty was in no way inferior to Qin Xiaowan's, and her mature, womanly aura in particular charmed countless young men.
After stepping onto the platform, Ye Feifei walked to the stone pillar. With a flash of intent, she swiftly unleashed a Thunderbolt Fist. The pillar emitted a sharp CRACK, and the recoil sent her stumbling back several steps before she regained her balance.
"Combat Value: 4,510! You have two more chances!" the instructor from Class Two announced. Ye Feifei was quite pleased with this score.
However, she knew it was impossible for her to hit a Combat Value of five thousand. She didn't want to waste any more time, because she was certain her talent was exceptional. 'How could someone chosen by the Divine Phoenix Race be useless?'
"I'm done testing my Combat Value. I'd like to proceed directly to the Talent Value test," Ye Feifei stated seriously!
