Chapter 165: Chapter 159: Li Sha
Life went on methodically, except for the nearly daily news about the protracted business rivalry between Huamei International and the Yin Family. Bai Yiran had no news of Leng Yichen, and suddenly life quieted down, as if he had never appeared.
The coffee shopâs business was decent. If operations continued at this pace, it was estimated that by this time next year, they would break even. Besides managing the coffee shop with Lou Jing, Bai Yiran also tutored English and French outside, so they were quite comfortable financially.
However, the least happy should be Lou Jingâs young boyfriend. Because of opening the shop with Bai Yiran, Lou Jing gave up renting her previous apartment and moved in with Bai Yiran at the coffee shop.
Although the coffee shop wasnât big, it was well-designed, with a room that was just right for Lou Jing and Bai Yiran to live in.
Since then, Lou Jingâs young boyfriend started resenting Bai Yiran. Every time he saw her, he didnât show a good face. Bai Yiran didnât mind, but whenever Lou Jing saw his attitude, he would inevitably get a scolding.
Every time Bai Yiran saw Lou Jing scold her young boyfriend for her sake, she felt very happy.
Though unsuccessful in love, she had a solid friendship.
That day, Bai Yiran returned to the coffee shop after finishing her tutoring job and saw Lou Jing looking displeased and Li Sha sitting not far away.
Bai Yiran was stunned, not understanding why Li Sha was there.
"Iâve been trying to get her to leave for ages, but she hasnât said a word! Is she a mute or what?" Lou Jing said irritably.
Clearly, Li Sha wasnât mute. After hearing Lou Jingâs words, she raised her eyes and saw Bai Yiran standing at the door.
"Li Sha, why are you here?" Bai Yiran maintained a good attitude towards Li Sha, as she had helped her before.
Li Sha stood upright and came to stand in front of Bai Yiran, speaking with determination, "I have nowhere to go!"
"Huh?" Bai Yiran was puzzled, "Didnât he make any other arrangements for you?"
The "he" obviously referred to Leng Yichen, for example, arranging for her to be with Wu Lin.
Li Sha shook her head, "No, I canât see the boss now."
"What a heartless jerk!" Lou Jing sneered coldly.
Bai Yiran glanced at Lou Jing and then said to Li Sha, "But, as you can see, I canât afford to hire you now, and I donât need a driver either."
Li Sha shook her head, her upright eyes filled with sincerity, "I donât need money. My salary is settled annually, and the boss already paid me a yearâs salary, so I must complete my work for this year."
Bai Yiran opened her mouth, slightly surprised, "Um... you actually donât have to be so diligent; since he paid you, you might as well take it. I really canât..."
"Once you take the money, you must do the job!" Li Sha interrupted Bai Yiran, "Back when the boss hired me to be your driver, if you donât need one now, I can work at your shop for free until the year is up!"
Bai Yiran was taken aback; Li Sha truly was a straightforward girl.
"Sister Bai..." Xiao Zhou timidly spoke from the bar, looking at Bai Yiran with a worried expression.
Xiao Zhou had been hired when the coffee shop first opened. Originally, the shop wasnât large, and with Lou Jing, Bai Yiran, and Xiao Zhou, they could meet the dayâs service demand.
Now that Li Sha wanted to work for free, Xiao Zhou felt uneasy since she was being paid.
Bai Yiran looked at Xiao Zhou, then at Li Sha, and sighed, "Alright, Li Sha, you can stay."
"Sister Bai, then I..."
"You stay too."
After getting Bai Yiranâs affirmative answer, Xiao Zhou finally felt reassured, although her gaze at Li Sha wasnât very friendly.
Li Sha didnât mind; after all, she was there to protect Bai Yiran, and other people and matters were irrelevant to her. Knowing she could stay, Li Sha immediately busied herself, cleaning the entire coffee shop inside and out.
Her movements were efficient and clean, befitting a girl who had served in the army, leaving Lou Jing and Bai Yiran amazed.
Lou Jing couldnât help but glance at Xiao Zhou, who was still inside the bar, and shook her head silently.
Xiao Zhouâs face instantly turned red, and her expression towards Li Sha became grim.
As night fell and lights first came on in this bustling city, it always made peopleâs hearts restless at night.
In the car, Wu Lin looked at the hard-featured and handsome Leng Yichen, and just by looking, her body was already melting.
Leng Yichen frowned, looking ahead, when suddenly a whiff of perfume invaded his nose, and then Wu Linâs delicate body pressed up against him.
A trace of disgust flashed in Leng Yichenâs eyes as he suppressed a sneeze and pushed Wu Lin away from his body, coldly saying, "Donât wear perfume when you meet me from now on."
Wu Lin was stunned; she had chosen this perfume especially for Leng Yichen, it was a scent men liked, so why was it different with Leng Yichen?
"Oh." Despite her grievance, Wu Lin agreed, and then said, "Canât you stay tonight? Stay with me?"
Leng Yichen turned to look at Wu Lin, whose lips were still slightly parted from speaking, and she froze. From Leng Yichenâs eyes, she saw an icy chill that made every hair on her body stand on end.
"I am very busy."
Ultimately, Leng Yichen only gave Wu Lin these three words. Until she got out of the car at the hotel, Leng Yichen didnât say another word to her.
She was confused; Leng Yichen had divorced Bai Yiran for her, so why was he now treating her so coldly!
