Chapter 683: Chapter 676: Eating Together
Early spring mornings are still quite chilly. Bai Yiran hasnāt been sleeping well lately; sheās afraid to sleep too deeply, fearing that Wu Chengzu might go mad and storm in when sheās unable to escape.
Although Wu Chengzu said that unless she agrees, he wouldnāt touch her.
However, Bai Yiran simply couldnāt believe his words.
Several days of insufficient sleep had left Bai Yiran feeling somewhat lethargic. After a simple wash-up, she sat in her room waiting for breakfast.
Before long, Yi, who was supposed to bring her breakfast, opened the door, but he wasnāt holding any food.
"Brother Zu said for you to come out and eat with everyone," Yi said.
"Iām not going!" How could she eat while looking at Wu Chengzu?
Yi was taken aback. Brother Zu was right; this woman was not going to obediently come out and eat with them.
"Brother Zu said that if I couldnāt persuade you, he would come to invite you himself."
A blatant threat! Bai Yiran gritted her teeth and layered another piece of clothing over the two she was already wearing, then reluctantly followed Yi to the big house.
This big house was where the group of henchmen lived and ate. Normally, Wu Chengzu and Yao Zhiqing would eat with them.
Seeing Bai Yiran come in, Yao Zhiqing was startled, "Why is she here?"
Bai Yiran rolled her eyes; as if she wanted to be there!
Wu Chengzu didnāt answer Yao Zhiqingās question. He reached over and pulled out a chair next to him, patting it, "Here, sit here."
Bai Yiran stood there, unwilling to move; she really didnāt want to sit next to Wu Chengzu.
Wu Chengzu shot a look at Yi, who understood immediately and forcefully made Bai Yiran sit next to Wu Chengzu.
Bai Yiran reluctantly shook off Yiās hand, "I get it, Iām sitting!"
Seeing Bai Yiran finally sit obediently, Wu Chengzu cheerfully picked up a bowl and said to everyone else at the table, "Continue eating."
Breakfast was simple: congee, pickles, and steamed buns. The congee was prepared fresh, but the pickles and buns were bought in bulk and stored in the fridge, reheated when needed.
Afraid Bai Yiran wouldnāt eat enough, Wu Chengzu filled a bowl with congee for her and handed her a large steamed bun, "Eat more."
Everyone at the table had a sour expression, the henchmen kept their heads down and stayed silent, Da Lin remained quiet throughout. Yao Zhiqingās face was dark and sullen, while Bai Yiranās expression was icy. Only Wu Chengzu continued to smile.
Bai Yiran didnāt want to pay Wu Chengzu any attention; since they wanted her to eat, she focused on her food.
Suddenly, Wu Chengzu reached over with his large hand, touching the scab on Bai Yiranās forehead, "How did this happen?"
Previously, Bai Yiranās hair covered the wound, but today she had it tied up, revealing the scab on her forehead.
When Wu Chengzu asked this, Da Linās body shuddered. Wu Chengzu sharply noticed Da Linās reaction, his eyes turning cold and fierce, "Did you hit her?"
Wu Chengzuās voice was chilling, like a ghost from the depths of hell, sending shivers down Da Linās spine as he placed his bowl on the table and looked helplessly at Yao Zhiqing.
"She was unruly on the way over, so Da Lin accidentally hit her," Yao Zhiqing explained, not wanting any conflict between Wu Chengzu and Da Lin because of Bai Yiran.
"Accidentally?" Bai Yiran sneered, "Iāve never seen someone accidentally hit another with the butt of a gun."
"Bai Yiran, shut up!" Yao Zhiqing yelled coldly at Bai Yiran, her eyes full of warning.
