Two black threads?
Aidenâs pupils suddenly shrank. He knew this illusion was even more real and more dangerous than before.
He wasnât sure if the mysterious map fragment in his chest was really sensing other fragments nearby, or if this was just another illusion.
Aiden took a deep breath and his brain worked quickly. He remembered when the first illusion happenedâwhite fog, someone calling his name.
Then came the second one, that extremely sexy Miko.
"The illusions in this white fog must be created based on my thoughts."
"Sure, I canât be careless. Even the map fragment is trying to trick me."
Aiden slowly closed his eyes. He communicated with Faye inside his pet space, telling her to get ready.
Then he bent his head slightly and looked at the black threads on his wrists.
Without hesitation, he quietly said, "Faye."
In an instant, Heaven-Devouring Mystic Dragon Faye appeared. Her golden eyes immediately looked at the mysterious map fragment on Aidenâs chest and the black threads on his wrists.
"Master, the map on you only has a faint white light."
"Master, on your right wrist, there is a black thread," Faye quickly said.
As soon as she finished speaking, her eyes became confused. Her mouth smiled, and she drooled as she looked at the empty space ahead, excitedly saying:
"Food, so much food!"
"Legendary Rank items, and Mythic materials, hahaha, so many of them!"
"Ugh, master, Iâm hungry again."
Aiden didnât hesitate at all. He immediately sent Faye back into his pet space.
He was right. Once they entered the white fog, it took some time before illusions started to appear, and everyone saw different things.
Faye saw a lot of high-tier materials, while Aiden saw the mysterious map fragment glowing strongly, and there was an extra black thread on his wrist.
Now that he knew they were all illusions, the next part became much easier.
Aiden slowly closed his eyes, but then suddenly opened them again. At that moment, the black thread on his right wrist had loosened, no longer tight.
"Oh no, Rainn and Cheryl must have also fallen into the illusion," Aiden thought quickly. He grabbed the black thread on his wrist and sped up his movement.
Soon, he followed the black thread and touched a soft little handâCherylâs.
"Cheryl, wake up!"
Aiden was now pressed close to Cherylâs body. The white fog was too thickâhe could barely see her face if he took a step back.
So, Aiden used his left hand and gently patted Cherylâs face.
"Wake up, what you see is an illusion."
A moment later, Cherylâs eyebrows slowly moved.
She opened her eyes and stared blankly at Aiden.
Aiden immediately felt relieved. It seemed Cherylâs illusion wasnât too deep.
At that moment, Cheryl suddenly reached out and pinched Aidenâs face hard, then looked all over his body.
"Youâre really Aiden. Thereâs something special about you. The one I saw earlier was fake!" Cheryl muttered.
Aiden was surprised for a moment and asked, "What did you see earlier?"
Then he looked at Cherylâs face and saw her suddenly turn red.
"Nothing, nothing... whereâs Rainn sister?" Cheryl lowered her head and asked softly.
Aiden gave her a suspicious look. He thought Cheryl must have seen something bad in the illusion.
"Letâs go find Rainn," Aiden said, leading Cheryl along the black thread until they found Rainn sitting on the ground, trembling all over.
Rainn had her hands covering her head, and the crack on her forehead had already closed.
Her voice was full of panic and pain, repeating over and over: "No, no, donât kill my sister."
"Mom, Dad, where are you?"
"No, itâs fake. Youâre all fake. My family is dead. Theyâre all dead."
"I want revenge. I want revenge. Revenge!"Rainn slowly stood up, her eyes closed, and walked deeper into the white fog.
Seeing this, Cheryl tried to stop her, but before she could even move, Rainn shouted loudly:
"Die! You killed my sister!"
"Iâll kill you!"
Then, to everyoneâs surprise, Rainn pulled out her staff and pointed it at Cheryl, ready to cast a spell.
Cheryl reacted quickly and dodged.
"What should I do? Sister is completely trapped in the illusion," Cheryl said, very worried. She bit her lip and hugged her sister tightly.
"Wake up, sister. Itâs me, Cheryl. Donât you remember me?"
"Iâm not dead. Iâm still alive."
"Sister!" Cheryl kept calling out.
But Rainn never opened her eyes. She kept struggling wildly.
Aiden frowned slightly and shouted loudly in Rainnâs ear: "Rainn, if you canât get out of the illusion, how can you get revenge?"
At that moment, Rainn stopped moving and stood still, staring blankly.
After a little while, Rainn finally opened her eyes, and a look of pain flashed across them.
She reached out and hugged her sister Cheryl, gently patting her back.
"Iâm sorry for worrying you."
Aiden saw this and immediately felt relieved. In his mind, Rainn was a very smart Miko. Getting out of the illusion shouldnât be a big problem.
The three of them rested for a while in place.
Rainn took the lead again. After about half an hour, the white fog around them suddenly became much lighter.
"Weâre here. The Lost Miko City is ahead," Rainn said.
Aiden looked in the direction she was pointing. A city covered in all kinds of vines appeared in front of them.
The city looked very old. Besides the vines, there were a lot of green mosses, and the walls were in bad condition.
"This is the Miko City?" Aiden frowned. He could feel that the city was full of a silent, dead atmosphere.
Rainn nodded. She crouched down and took out her staff, drawing a simple map.
"This is the core area of the Miko City. The Miko Temple is here."
"From what I know, only the Miko who have been chosen to compete for the Primordial Miko inheritance can open the temple door and enter."
"That means, if we run into any danger in the Miko City later and have to split up, we should try to meet near the temple."
After hearing Rainnâs words, Aiden quickly asked, "What kind of danger?"
This time, Cheryl answered on her own: "Lost Miko. They are Miko without souls, just bodies. They donât feel pain, and they donât fear death. They wander around the Miko City forever."
"Thereâs also one more thing to note. Try to avoid going near buildings that look very fancy. The chance of meeting a high-level Lost Miko there is very high. Itâs very dangerous."
After Cheryl finished speaking, Rainn added slowly: "Donât worry. As long as our luck isnât too bad, we should be fine. The high-level Lost Miko only wander in certain areas. We can just avoid them."
Aiden nodded, but his expression looked a little uneasy.
Luck?
He was the one who had been cursed by the Twin Coinâs bad luck effect, after all!
"Iâm saying this againâbe careful, because my luck has really been bad lately," Aiden took a deep breath and prepared Rainn and Cheryl mentally.
Soon, the three of them started moving toward the Lost Miko City.
A large gate made of black metal stood quietly ahead, and the dusty road was only marked by the footprints of the three of them.
After they went through the gate, Aiden turned back for a moment. His eyes widened in shock.
There were countless, thick scratch marks on the gate.
It was as if something had suddenly happened in the Miko City. The Miko had tried to escape, but they were trapped by the gate. In their panic, they had scratched the metal with their hands, leaving deep marks.
At the same time, the dead silence inside the Miko City became even stronger.
The vines and moss on the walls completely disappeared here.
The whole city was completely silentâso quiet, it was scary.
Aiden looked ahead at the road. It was a street with various buildings on both sides, looking like shops and restaurants.
"Letâs go. This is the outer area. Most of the Lost Miko have already been cleared out. It should be safe. Letâs move faster," Rainn said quietly.
Aiden followed the Miko sisters while watching the buildings on both sides of the street.
They hadnât walked more than 500 meters when Aiden suddenly stopped. His muscles tensed, and he stared intensely at a shop on the right side.
A Miko in a black robe, with gray and white eyes, was tilted her head, staring at him blankly.
Her face and arms were covered in strange black spots, like the color of dead flesh.
"This is a Lost Miko. Wait, we havenât gone deep into the Miko City yet. We shouldnât have met one so early," Cheryl noticed Aidenâs reaction.
Rainn said, "It must be a Lost Miko that wandered out by accident. Try not to fight right away. Letâs keep moving."
Before she finished speaking, the Lost Miko inside the shop suddenly raised her head and opened her mouth wide.
No sound came out.
But in an instant, the ground under Aidenâs feet shook. A bunch of gray-white hands quickly reached toward him.
