Chapter 241: Unexpected Attack, Direction of Escape

The battle erupted in an instant.

The moment Rowan saw the Scorpion-Tailed Demon vanish, his pupils shrank tight. A cold feeling of dread surged in his heart.

"That guy can actually slip into a space rift?" Rowan shouted in surprise, summoning his pet Arcane Bug immediately.

At the same time, his teammates behind him also got ready for a fight, scanning their surroundings with alert eyes.

But the Scorpion-Tailed Demon never appeared. Instead, Gaunt Demon Azdrael was closing in on them much faster than expected.

Even though Rowan’s side had more people, Azdrael licked his lips excitedly and roared, "Feel my power!"

He clutched his fists tight and swung them hard toward where Rowan and the others were standing.

Suddenly, his long, thin arms began to stretch out in a strange, terrifying way.

Azdrael was already fast, but with his arms stretching so quickly, his fists moved like lightning.

Rowan had been watching out for the vanishing Scorpion-Tailed Demon. Only when he realized Azdrael’s attack speed was way beyond his expectations did his expression turn grim, filled with a hint of panic.

Without any hesitation, Rowan used his pet Arcane Bug to shrink his body instantly.

Azdrael’s fist skimmed past Rowan’s tiny form and smashed straight into the teammate behind him.

One contestant from Insect Valley didn’t have time to dodge. All he could do was summon a black beetle the size of a manhole cover to block the attack.

Boom! A deafening crash echoed through the air.

The beetle’s hard shell instantly cracked into a thousand tiny pieces.

Just as the contestant from Insect Valley thought he had blocked Azdrael’s attack and let out a sigh of relief, Azdrael suddenly opened his clenched fist.

His fingers pierced through the black beetle’s body like it was tofu, then slashed straight toward the contestant’s head.

Luckily, his teammates reacted fast. They all summoned black beetles to block Azdrael’s fingers.

But the threat from Azdrael made the Insect Valley members almost forget that the Scorpion-Tailed Demon was gone.

Rowan realized something was wrong. He suddenly looked up at the sky.

A rift in space appeared instantly. The Scorpion-Tailed Demon’s massive tail burst out of the crack, slicing through the air with a terrifying scream, and came straight for Rowan.

Now that Rowan was shrunken, it should have been almost impossible for the tail to hit him.

But the Scorpion-Tailed Demon’s tail was incredibly fast and precise. No matter how Rowan dodged, the tail always locked onto him.

Damn it! It’s not giving me a single second to use Sacrifice to the Hive God, Rowan cursed in his heart.

He had thought only Aiden could put him under that much pressure. But now, facing both the Scorpion-Tailed Demon and Azdrael, Rowan found himself in the exact same situation: no time to use his strongest skill, Sacrifice to the Hive God.

At this moment, all the Insect Valley members, including Rowan, focused all their attention on the Scorpion-Tailed Demon and Azdrael.

No one noticed the rainwater pooling on the ground beneath their feet starting to ripple strangely.

Suddenly, thick black vines covered in sharp spikes burst out of the ground one by one, rushing toward the Insect Valley group.

"Watch out! There’s another enemy!" one of Rowan’s teammates noticed the anomaly. While dodging, he shouted loudly.

But those black vines had appeared at a terrible moment. They were fast and caught everyone completely off guard.

Rowan’s five teammates were all hit by the vines.

Only Rowan, who was shrunken, used his small size to dodge the attack again.

Damn it. I was careless. Besides the two Mythic Rank Demon geniuses, there was actually a hidden enemy I didn’t know about.

Rowan’s pupils dilated to their limit. His heart felt heavy and tight.

These Demons were not only powerful but also incredibly cunning.

"Captain, these vines are poisonous!" At that moment, the teammate who had been hit suddenly turned pale.

His wounds were turning black and swelling up very fast. It felt like something was wriggling just beneath his skin.

One teammate reacted quickly and pulled out his dagger to cut away the blackened flesh.

Inside the exposed flesh, thin black vines like hair were growing wildly, burrowing deep into the meat and blood vessels.

Soon, the bodies of the Insect Valley members began to stiffen and grow weak.

Pain surged through every part of them. Their muscles spasmed, their eyes filled with agony, and they frantically tried to regain control of their bodies.

But the tiny black vines were wriggling inside them, moving wildly toward their spines.

"Use the Teleportation Scroll now! I’ll buy you time!" Rowan shouted.

He risked getting hit by the Scorpion-Tailed Demon’s massive tail to try and hold off Azdrael.

But it was already too late.

Just as his teammates pulled out their Teleportation Scrolls, their bodies became completely stiff, freezing in place like statues.

"Hmph, you lowly, foolish humans. You are truly ridiculous!" Azdrael sneered, a smug smile curling his lips.

Rowan had very few choices left now.

He could either abandon his teammates and use the Teleportation Scroll to escape.

Or, he could fight to the death. Or, he could flee as fast as possible to find help from others.

Now he was all alone. And facing both the Scorpion-Tailed Demon and Azdrael, he also had to be careful of the hidden enemy’s black vines.

"But who else can help me?" Suddenly, the name "Aiden" flashed through Rowan’s mind.

He took a deep breath, his expression set with determination. He shouted loudly, "You dirty cowards! Even if I die, I won’t let you off! Come on, let’s die together!"

Instantly, the smile on Azdrael’s face vanished. His eyes widened, staring fixedly at Rowan, ready for whatever danger was coming.

Even the Scorpion-Tailed Demon’s attack paused for a split second.

But next, they saw Rowan hesitate not at all. He and his pet Arcane Bug turned and ran away as fast as they could.

"You dare lie to me! You useless waste! A coward who just abandons his friends!" Azdrael shouted in anger.

He had actually been scared by Rowan for a moment. He thought Rowan had a way to kill everyone together.

Turns out it was just a trick to buy time for himself to run.

"Chase! Catch him alive! How dare you mock me!" Azdrael was furious.

The Scorpion-Tailed Demon acted immediately.

His giant scorpion tail tore through the space behind him once more.

At the same time, right in front of the fleeing Rowan, a wall of dense black vines suddenly appeared, blocking his path completely.

Obstacles ahead, pursuers behind. Panic flashed in Rowan’s eyes, and a seed of despair began to grow in his heart.

Just then, his pet Arcane Bug suddenly sped up. It seemed to ignore the black vines ahead and charged straight into them.

Rowan suddenly realized what was happening and tried to stop Arcane Bug.

However, he hesitated for a split second.

Arcane Bug plunged into the black vines, growing rapidly until, in the blink of an eye, it was as big as a heavy truck. It crashed through a path, clearing a way straight for Rowan.

Rowan didn’t hesitate. He flew out through the opening immediately.

Arcane Bug tried to shrink back down, but it had been hit by the vines. Its body was now out of control, letting out a painful, high-pitched scream.

Rowan bit his lip, paused for a moment, and risked getting hit by the vines to pull Arcane Bug back into his pet space.

"Damn it! You dirty Demons, you wait!" Rowan screamed, fleeing furiously into the distance.

The Scorpion-Tailed Demon and Azdrael didn’t stop. They kept chasing.

They couldn’t let Rowan use the Teleportation Scroll, or else they would fail the mission given by the Grand Duke and the Demon God Lord.

Outside the main battlefield, inside a live stream room with hundreds of millions of viewers, only a few scattered comments floated by.

The audience, who had been so excited just moments ago, went completely silent. The mood in the room was incredibly heavy.

They thought Rowan and his team could beat the Scorpion-Tailed Demon and Demon Azdrael.

Instead, Rowan’s teammates had been captured, and now Rowan was running for his life.

"Is our talented ReClasser really no match for these Demon geniuses?" someone couldn’t help but type.
