Chapter 1840: What Happens When Drunk?

Chapter 1840: Chapter 1840: What Happens When Drunk?

Xue Ganggang left the Book Academy and found a nearby restaurant. She took Bai Xing to the second floor, sat by the window, and then she rattled off a list of dishes to order.

Bai Xing let her do as she pleased and didn’t say a word, instead, he looked out through the window next to him, down onto the street.

On the streets, shops lined up on both sides, pedestrians occasionally passed by, and there were many street vendors selling all sorts of things; it was very lively.

Completely different from the underdeveloped Beast World.

However, Bai Xing thought, if the Beast World kept developing, it would eventually have such a day too.

He couldn’t help but pick up the tea in front of him and take a sip.

In the Beast World, he usually drank only water or soup. This kind of tea was a first for him, and he couldn’t tell if it was good or bad, just that it tasted quite fragrant; drinking it like this was indeed a pleasure.

But whether he was from the Beast World or not, he knew that in every world, some things were a luxury for some people.

This world probably wasn’t one where every family could afford such fragrant tea.

Just looking at the layout of the restaurant, he could tell that not everyone could afford to come here.

With that thought, Bai Xing withdrew his gaze and looked towards Xue Ganggang sitting opposite him.

The restaurant staff obviously recognized Xue Ganggang. She ordered a lot of dishes in one breath, and the restaurant didn’t dare to slack off. The food was served quickly, along with a pot of alcohol.

Bai Xing was seeing a table full of dishes that looked even better than drawings for the first time, and he felt the huge difference between here and the Beast World, realizing the Beast World truly had a long path ahead.

“Go ahead and eat,” Xue Ganggang said as she took a pair of chopsticks out of the bamboo tube on the table and handed them to Bai Xing.

“Aren’t you eating?”

“I’ve already eaten with the masters at the academy,” she said. She had gone to meet a master for something, and while she was there, she took the opportunity to have a meal with them.

Only then did Bai Xing start to eat.

With the first bite, Bai Xing felt that what he had eaten before was incomparable.

Although he was often bad-tempered, he was usually quite calm; even though the food was tasty, he didn’t rush and ate slowly and deliberately.

“Do you want to drink some alcohol?” Xue Ganggang picked up the alcohol jar.

“Alcohol?”

“It’s a kind of liquid made from fermenting grains,” Xue Ganggang explained as simply as possible, knowing the Beast World didn’t have such a thing. She added, “You’ve never drunk it before, and I don’t know how much you can handle. Drinking it might make you drunk.”

“What happens when you’re drunk?”

“You can’t walk.”

“Then let’s not drink,” Bai Xing said. Being unable to walk and causing trouble for others wasn’t desirable.

But Xue Ganggang thought he was anxious to leave, which made her feel even more stifled. She put the alcohol jar down, as if in a petulant manner, and said, “After we eat, I’ll take you to my uncle and Little Aunty, and let them send you back to the Beast World!”

“Thank you,” Bai Xing’s tone unconsciously became a little colder.

Xue Ganggang didn’t notice and was even more upset, so she stopped talking altogether and sulked on her own.

Previously in the Beast World, she hadn’t realized that she liked the man in front of her, and she didn’t think much of it; after coming back, she noticed she was somewhat fond of him, but after a few days, it was just that—since they wouldn’t meet again, she still thought it wasn’t a big deal.

Who knew they would meet again now!

To be honest, when she saw him at the academy just earlier, she actually felt a bit flustered.

But now, all she felt was anger!

She was a little fond of the man in front of her, but he didn’t like her at all. They were hardly able to meet, and all he wanted was to go back! He didn’t want to spend another moment with her!
