Chapter 1923: Extra: A Brand New Life 38 (Jiang Yue and Xue Yan)

Xue Yan, though he had long been accustomed to Zhou Ping’s chatter, still found it a bit amusing.

As he waited for Zhou Ping to reply with where his Yue Bao was having lunch in the cafeteria, Xue Yan left Medical University and headed across to University.

Some students who didn’t like the cafeteria food would leave school to eat at nearby restaurants.

Zhou Ping, however, didn’t leave; he called Xue Yan to inform him that Jiang Yue would be at Cafeteria One for lunch and would wait for him at its entrance.

So Jiang Yue and Zhou Ping went ahead to Cafeteria One and stood waiting in the shade by the entrance.

Zhou Ping didn’t feel the slightest bit like he was an inconvenient third wheel.

Jiang Yue and Xue Yan had been together for years, and they always dined with friends like Zhou Ping, who never felt like a third wheel.

Seeing many clubs recruiting new members at the cafeteria entrance, including the student council, Zhou Ping casually asked, “What club are you planning to join? I heard from Xue Yan that his teachers wanted him to join the student council, but he refused. Your teachers must have asked you to join the student council as well, since you’re both so outstanding.”

“They did, and I refused, too,” said Jiang Yue. “I’m not planning to join any clubs. Uncle Xue donated a laboratory building to the school, and the principal promised I could use the school’s labs freely to conduct experiments of my choice. Uncle Xue also made donations to Medical University, so Xue Yan and I can use the labs there freely as well.”

In other words, she would be spending most of her university time in the labs.

“Fuck, being rich is so incredible!” Zhou Ping’s family owned a company, albeit a small one—they weren’t nearly as extravagant. “But this way, you’re even more free to research whatever you like.” Saying this, he made a gesture: “I’m rooting for you!”

Jiang Yue smiled, then asked, “What about you?”

“I applied to join the student council—not the department student council, but the university student council. As for other clubs, I’ll join based on my interests.”

“I heard from Xu Yi that Chen Sheng also applied to their university’s student council.”

“Yeah, Chen Sheng snuck in some phone time this morning. He even said in the group chat that he passed the first round of interviews. Their university started earlier than ours. With him and Xu Yi’s universities being so close, you never know, they might really hit it off someday.”

Jiang Yue agreed, nodding her head: “They really do seem well-suited for each other.”

“They get along well, of course they’re suited. It’s scary just to think about people who can’t even hold a conversation being together,” Zhou Ping barely finished speaking when he saw Xue Yan approaching, “Look, Xue Yan’s coming.”

Jiang Yue also saw him, smiling as she watched her Xue Yan walk over.

He too was wearing camouflage gear, the same style worn by students of both University and Medical University. Without mentioning it, one really couldn’t tell Xue Yan was from the opposite school.

“If you hadn’t gotten jealous, were you even planning to come over at noon?” Zhou Ping teased as Xue Yan approached.

In all honesty, Xue Yan smiled and said, “I was planning to come in the evening.”

After speaking, he took his Yue Bao by the hand and walked into the cafeteria together.

“There must be girls bringing you water too, right?” Zhou Ping spared no fuss.

Xue Yan coughed dryly, “Can’t you talk about something else?” He then explained softly to his Yue Bao, “I didn’t accept any.”
