Chapter 1341: Chapter 1341: The County Examination Begins
After Daniu finished these tasks, Zhou Qiao urged him back to the manor to work.
Zhou Qiao felt that with so much of the profit share and bonuses given by Yu, it wasnât right for Daniu to stay and accompany her during her confinement period.
Now that her health was improving and she had people bought by him serving her, her confinement days were much better than most.
Thus, Daniu returned to the manor, but he would come back once every two days or so.
However, with Daniu handling things, Shu Yu was much more at ease.
She bought a large piece of land, not far from the workshop. She actually wanted to connect all those pieces, but alas, it couldnât be done for the time being.
The newly planted sunflowers were still several months away from harvest, and the original stocks were almost used up.
Shu Yu was pondering about what else to make; she planned to make instant noodles.
But before she could start, the county exams began.
Originally, Shurui, Erniu, and Dabao, who were studying at the school, were on break, but the three of them coincidentally went outside the examination hall to experience the tense atmosphere in advance.
Shu Yu also went. Sitting in the carriage, she was thinking about Meng Yunzheng, far away in Changjin Prefecture.
At this time, he should also be entering the examination hall, right?
When the examination hall doors closed, Shurui ran back to the side of the carriage and took two sips of tea.
Seeing his second sister staring off into the distance, he quickly climbed onto the shaft of the carriage, patted her hand, and said, âSecond sister, donât worry, Brother Meng will surely be fine.â
Shu Yu snapped back to reality and couldnât help but smile, âYou sure have a lot of confidence in him.â
Shurui puffed up his chest confidently and said, âOf course, my Brother Meng is amazing at studying. I was originally the last one to enroll at the school, had no foundation, and often encountered things I didnât understand. Later, when I went southwest, Brother Meng taught me how to study and even set study methods for me upon returning. The teacher said my current studying seems like I have divine assistance, and my rankings in minor exams improve each time; last time, I even ranked first.â
How long has he been reading? How long have those scholars at the school been studying?
Even though Shurui had some aptitude for studying, without Meng Yunzheng, he would still be at the bottom of the list.
âEven Master Wen, when encountering things he doesnât understand, consults Brother Meng.â Shurui said this and suddenly lowered his voice, âOur Master Wen said that in this exam, Brother Meng is definitely the top scorer. Sadly, he isnât from Jiangyuan County.â
Otherwise, Jiangyuan County would produce a talent.
Shu Yu raised an eyebrow. She, of course, had confidence in Meng Yunzheng. With his intelligence, he should have attended the county exams at age ten. If it werenât for revenge delaying him for years, he would have already achieved fame and success.
âIâm not worried; Iâm just hoping he finishes his exams quickly and comes back soon.â
Shurui, hearing this, looked at her with pity.
Itâs not that early; after the county exams, there are the prefecture exams and academy exams, at least several months later.
HoweverâŠ
âWhen Brother Meng returns, heâll have the scholar status.â
Everyone was confident in this.
Shu Yuâs attention to the county exams lasted just a day before other matters attracted her notice.
Because the newly appointed county magistrate finally arrived in Jiangyuan County.
However, since itâs precisely the county exams, even if Xiang Weinan had completed the handover with him, he would have to wait until the county exam results were out before returning to the capital.
The new county magistrateâs surname was Xie, a lean man over fifty years old.
On his first day, Shu Yu was called to the county office by Xiang Weinan to meet Lord Xie.
