Chapter 1498: Zhou Qiao's Request

Chapter 1498: Chapter 1498: Zhou Qiao’s Request

“Yu, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you.” Zhou Qiao glanced at Daniu before speaking.

“Go ahead.”

Zhou Qiao sat down next to her, “I observed earlier that Grandmother really likes children. So, I’d like to bring Little Zaozao to stay at your house for a while. Of course, it’s not just for Grandmother. Next month is Lanhua’s wedding, and as her sister-in-law, I should definitely go back and help out.”

Shu Yu immediately understood Zhou Qiao’s implication.

She is currently living at the Manor, which is too far away. If she wants to help, she will have to bring the child to stay in Shangshi Village, after all, Lanhua is getting married there.

But living in the village means having to face Madam Li every day.

Under normal circumstances, it would be fine, as Little Zaozao would keep Madam Li occupied. For the sake of Little Zaozao, she’d be more tolerant towards her as the mother.

However, now that it’s the time before Lanhua’s wedding, with many trivial matters to handle, and knowing that Madam Li is quite strict and takes her children’s matters seriously, anything Zhou Qiao does imperfectly will surely be magnified, making it seem like she’s envious of her sister-in-law’s success.

And with Daniu not at home to mediate, Zhou Qiao, as the daughter-in-law, would have no choice but to endure it, which would make her life difficult.

But if Little Zaozao stays with the old lady in the county town, it would be different. As the biological mother, Zhou Qiao can’t completely ignore her child. Even if she can’t stay by her side daily, she would at least bring the child over for the night every day or two.

The county town is not far from Shangshi Village. When Zhou Qiao finishes her tasks for the day, if it’s still early, she can return to the county town.

The old lady has just recovered from an illness. If she expresses a desire for Little Zaozao’s company, Madam Li wouldn’t have much to say about it.

Shu Yu could understand Zhou Qiao’s thoughts; they were all familiar with Eldest Aunt’s temperament.

So she had no objections.

“Just inform Grandmother about it. As long as she agrees, it’s fine.”

Shu Yu also wanted Little Zaozao to keep the old lady company. Although the Lu family had many children, they all had their own matters to attend to.

Take Shu Yu and her three siblings, for instance. Erniu from the Eldest Uncle’s family and Dabao from Third Uncle’s family both had to study. They only visited during their school breaks.

As for Baoya and Xiaozhen from Fourth Aunt’s family, they had already started helping out with family chores. Given the distance and needing a carriage to travel back and forth, they didn’t visit often.

The youngest ones like Quanquan and Little Song Le visited the most, but a couple of three-year-olds couldn’t stay still. They ran around and barely stayed home, and with Maneki in tow, they were a wild pair.

The only relatively well-behaved child was Cuihua’s son, Lai Yuan, who is now attending school.

The Lu family seemed to have a slew of children, but none who could frequently stay by the old lady’s side.

Little Zaozao was the only one left, being too young to run or jump, who could keep the old lady company.

Shu Yu was quite happy to have Little Zaozao, the little chubby baby, stay in the family. She liked her too.

Zhou Qiao smiled, “Alright, I’ll talk to Grandmother about it.”

She looked at Daniu again, who chuckled, “Why are you looking at me? I have no objections. Besides, I was planning to tell you that the shop in the prefecture is about to open, and I’ll be quite busy. You’ll have to manage things at home.”

With him saying that, Zhou Qiao had no more concerns.

When the old lady woke up, Zhou Qiao shared her thoughts, and the old lady couldn’t be happier.

The old lady wasn’t unfamiliar with Madam Li. She thought it was great, taking care of Little Zaozao wouldn’t be troublesome. The child was very well-behaved, and besides, there’s still a wet nurse with her.
