Chapter 1544: The Same Person Kong Zhiyou Mentioned

Chapter 1544: Chapter 1544: The Same Person Kong Zhiyou Mentioned

The moment the Xiao family member heard this, she felt the person was looking for her.

Otherwise, why would they appear so coincidentally?

She was afraid that person would recklessly rush into the backyard and implicate Dongqing Temple, which wouldn’t be good.

Although Dongqing Temple was entrusted by Shu Yu to look after her, they actually didn’t know her true identity. The Daoist nuns at Dongqing Temple are people outside the mundane world, and even if there are many of them, it’s still possible for Xiao Family members to sneak in over the walls.

In her nervousness, the Xiao family member decided to head down the mountain first.

After descending the mountain, she considered going to find Shu Yu, but Dongqing Temple is quite a distance from Jiangyuan County, and she couldn’t guarantee there wouldn’t be any accidents on the way. After thinking it over, she decided to head to the prefecture instead.

The Xiao family member had heard that the magistrate of Dongan Province was currently working for the emperor and was affiliated with her husband.

If something significant happens in the city, they could turn to the magistrate for support.

Therefore, she chose an inn not far from the government office.

After checking in, the Xiao family member sent Lu Tong out to look around the area to see if there was anything unusual, to be prepared in time.

Unexpectedly, Lu Tong hadn’t gone far when he encountered Shu Yu, who was also out shopping for goods.

The Xiao family member was extremely uneasy now, “Shu Yu, do you think the reason my husband and the others haven’t sent any news is because the Xiao family knows I’m still alive and something has happened in the capital?”

Shu Yu’s fingers slightly tightened, she didn’t expect the Xiao family to be in Dongan Province at this time.

Strange, besides the black market, what else in Dongan Province would make them come here? Do they really know the Xiao family member is still alive?

No…

Shu Yu shook her head, “Don’t get nervous yet. You just said that when you saw him at the back mountain, he ran immediately. If he were really looking for you, upon seeing someone suddenly appear at the back mountain, even if he couldn’t see your face, he should have suspected something from your figure and at least come forward to verify if you were the person he was looking for. Why would he run away upon seeing someone?”

The Xiao family member thought about it and agreed, “But he was indeed secretly looking for someone.”

“Then perhaps he wasn’t looking for you, maybe he was looking for a man? So when he saw a woman, he didn’t bother to check. Or perhaps, searching for someone was just a ruse, and he had another purpose?”

The Xiao family member felt somewhat reassured after hearing this.

“What should I do now? The person is indeed from the Xiao family. If I return to Dongqing Temple now, I might really be recognized by him.”

Shu Yu thought for a moment, “How about you tell me what the person looks like, and I’ll go to Dongqing Temple. Anyway, the fact that I’m a disciple of the temple master of Dongqing Temple is no longer a secret, so it’s not unusual for me to go up the mountain occasionally.”

The Xiao family member nodded and described the person, “His name is Hao Dingshan, around forty, not particularly tall, and quite thin. He’s dressed in short, informal clothes, almost like a disguised servant. Large nose, short eyebrows, he…”

As Shu Yu listened, her expression grew more peculiar. Large nose, short eyebrows, around forty? The description felt oddly familiar.

“Wait a moment.” Shu Yu raised her hand, “This Hao Dingshan you’re talking about, is his height about up to his ears?”

She pointed at a guard next to the Xiao family member and asked.

The Xiao family member looked along and was stunned, “Yes, that’s about right, how do you know?”

Shu Yu rubbed her temples, so this Hao Dingshan is the same person Kong Zhiyou mentioned.

Hao Dingshan is the mysterious figure conspiring with Chen Ji to spy on Meng Yunzheng’s journey?
