Chapter 1739: Guards at the Abandoned Mansion

Chapter 1739: Chapter 1739: Guards at the Abandoned Mansion

Xia Yi didn’t waste words with him, she wielded her sword and charged over.

County Magistrate Cheng retreated again, even shouting loudly, “Ah Qiang, Ah Da, come out quickly.”

Xia Yi was momentarily stunned, seeing two more guards rush out from the study, her expression instantly turned serious.

Even without engaging, she could feel that the three guards of County Magistrate Cheng were all experts.

Sure enough, as swords and knives clashed, Xia Yi felt that the opponent’s strength was quite extraordinary. To her surprise, such skilled hands were hidden around a mere county magistrate.

Xia Yi squinted her eyes, she wasn’t very afraid, but the newly emerged Ah Qiang and Ah Da were relentlessly entangling her.

County Magistrate Cheng secretly breathed a sigh of relief, seeing Lu Wu and others who came in with Xia Yi charging towards him, he hurriedly shouted, “Quick, leave.”

Ah Pin, beside him, expressionlessly supported County Magistrate Cheng, not getting entangled with Lu Wu and others, climbed up the wall without a word, and directly exited the county office.

Lu Wu and the others were momentarily stunned, Xia Yi shouted, “You go and chase, I can’t disengage for now.”

As she spoke, Xia Yi swiftly landed a strike on Ah Qiang.

Seeing that she was not in mortal danger, Lu Wu gritted his teeth and led his men to turn and leave.

However, they were still a step too late, as County Magistrate Cheng was familiar with Chenggu County, and with Ah Pin leading him, he quickly hid his figure on various streets.

“Lord, where to?” Ah Pin asked.

After running a long way forward, County Magistrate Cheng heard the commotion coming from the city gate.

After a brief contemplation, he frowned and said, “Could it be that the city gate has been seized, and Xia Yi and the others just entered from outside the city?”

The city gate was no longer an option, private residence… also not feasible.

Since the Imperial Guard already discovered his collusion with the Second Prince, his private residence surely was under their watch, probably already surrounded.

Going back would be walking into a trap.

“Lord.” Ah Pin saw that County Magistrate Cheng remained silent, and couldn’t help but turn his head to look at him.

County Magistrate Cheng’s face twisted for a moment, gritted his teeth and said, “Go to the abandoned mansion.”

“Yes.”

Ah Pin took County Magistrate Cheng and rushed off, the more they hurried, the more anxious County Magistrate Cheng became. Astonishingly, he didn’t see a single patrolling officer along the way.

How could this be, were they all captured, or… did something happen?

“Hurry.” County Magistrate Cheng was increasingly urgent, only wanting to quickly enter the secret passage of the abandoned mansion, then use the black market to exit the city and find Third Young Master Wu to tell him the plan had changed, the Emperor might already know of their plan.

County Magistrate Cheng hadn’t thought that the vast black market had already changed ownership, and now the people inside had changed, even the passage leading outside the city was blocked.

The two quickly arrived at the abandoned mansion, Ah Pin took County Magistrate Cheng and directly jumped over the wall.

As soon as they landed, the two quickly dashed towards the house where the entrance to the secret passage was located.

However, just as they entered the courtyard, Ah Pin suddenly halted his steps, and even grabbed County Magistrate Cheng who intended to rush forward.

“What’s wrong?” County Magistrate Cheng frowned in confusion.

Ah Pin cautiously glanced around, “Someone’s here.”

County Magistrate Cheng’s expression drastically changed, squeezing his fingers tightly, eyes wide open looking around.

Yet all he could hear was the rustling sound of the breeze through the grass, Ah Pin’s gaze swept around and halted at the position ahead to the left, coldly said, “Come out.”

The rustling sound suddenly grew louder, and County Magistrate Cheng watched as one, two, three, four, five, six people leisurely walked out from inside.
