Chapter 914: Chapter 18: Xiao Chong Extra Story 18
The store employee standing by the door two meters away had heard their conversation the entire time and cheerfully interjected: "Dear customer, the outfit youâre wearing is indeed custom-made, slightly different from our standard in-store versions."
Everyone turned their attention over, all with faces full of curiosity.
The store employee smiled as she approached Lin Wanwan and said, "Do you mind if I touch your clothes?"
Lin Wanwan gave an embarrassed yet polite smile: "I donât mind."
The store employee then pointed to the cuffs and collar of the clothing, as well as the ribbed area on the waist of the dress underneath. When looked closely, these parts differed from whatâs on display.
The ultimate proof of its unique customization was the exquisite logo badge on the chest. At first glance, it seemed like a standard brand emblem, but with a mini magnifying glass taken out of the store employeeâs pocket, you could clearly see a beautifully embroidered "Wan" in the center of the pattern, obviously a specially designed font.
Several of the classmates quickly took out their phones to snap photos of this "Wan" character, and Lin Wanwan smiled and asked them to send her the pictures.
The girls immediately ignored their leading teacher and created a group chat to share their insights.
With no further doubt about the authenticity of Lin Wanwanâs attire, the store employee retreated back to the entrance, leaving Qi Bingqiong looking a bit sheepish.
Meanwhile, Han Xiaoyan and Wang Chunyu, along with others, clustered around Lin Wanwan chatting.
The entire journey had been filled with Qi Bingqiong and Zheng Ying bragging about luxury goods. One moment theyâd talk about the Pandora bracelet on their wrist, the next about the Chanel bag they carried, and everyone had grown weary of it.
They were just a bunch of high school students from a prestigious school, with priorities not lying in the fashion world.
Many brands were ones they heard for the first time, and normally didnât care about. Listening to Qi and Zhengâs bragging had become quite tiresome.
Lin Wanwan, wearing custom luxury wears, had remained quietly composed, while the others were vying for attention.
Without the spotlight they once held, Zheng Ying and Qi Bingqiong were both feeling a bit deflated.
Just at this moment, their lead teacher asked in the group chat if everyone had returned to the hotel, as they were about to start room checks.
Though it was only around 8:30, for the young girls, it was indeed time to return to their rooms.
"Hey, Mr. Wang said heâll check rooms in half an hour, letâs head back quickly." Zheng Ying shook her phone.
"Alright."
"Letâs go."
The girls with phones echoed in the group chat that they received the message and would head back immediately, clustering together as they made their way back.
As the group reached the north entrance of Times Square, they saw a large crowd gathered on the open plaza area ahead.
"Look at all those people over there, whatâs going on?" someone commented.
"Letâs go see," Zheng Ying suggested.
"Better not. Mr. Wang will scold us if we donât go back."
"Oh, come on, letâs just take a peek since itâs on the way." Zheng Ying said, already making her way through the crowd.
Some of the more curious girls followed, while those less interested stayed behind waiting.
Lin Wanwan was among those who didnât squeeze in; she wasnât uninterested, just wary about the safety of the thousand cash and iPad in her bag, unwilling to push through the packed crowd.
Compared to the excitement, her property was more important to her; being a little miser was a trait she had since childhood.
"Wow! Come and see, thereâs an outdoor show here!"
"What show?"
"Donât know, but itâs luxury brands and with celebrities!"
"Ah, there are celebrities, letâs go see, which celebrities?"
"So many stars!"
"Itâs too crowded, weâd better not go," Lin Wanwan wasnât very eager to venture forward.
"Come on, letâs go!"
The mention of celebrities sparked excitement among the group of girls, not caring whether they were die-hard fans or not, they saw it as an opportunity too good to pass up.
Lin Wanwan, ensnared by the enthusiasm of others, was pulled forward, quickly clutching her backpack tightly to her chest.
With great numbers come great strength, and the girls soon squeezed to the front, stopping just outside the barrier line.
Inside the barrier, there were security guards stationed every few steps.
A girl group was dancing on stage, with familiar faces seating below in the VIP area as well.
Despite the chilling weather, both on and off stage, people didnât wear much.
This part of the show, outdoors, only lasted a while, and Lin Wanwanâs group happened to catch it, truly by luck.
Previously, none had followed entertainment news, because if there was even one star-chaser among them, they might have long known about the event.
"Wow, look, that person in the middle of the front row with the fur coat is Bai Nuannuan! Sheâs stunning in person!" Wang Chunyuâs sharp eyes spotted several celebrities among the crowd watching the show, and Bai Nuannuan was definitely the most famous among them.
