"Child of Prophecy?"
Sadogo pondered for a moment and then pointed to his own nose, saying, "Could it be talking about me?"
"Youāre really confident, Sadogo," Laine said, showcasing the Holy Dragonās Jaw in his hand, "These Dragon People are definitely talking about me."
In fact, once the term Child of Prophecy was translated, all the Awakened of the Huaxia Battle Group had already turned to look at Laine.
"Thatās great, no need for further disputes," said the Wushan Divine Lady, smiling. "Iām also curious to see the gathering place of the Ancient Dragon People. Could they possibly live in caves?"
Sadogo translated her words.
But who knew that the Dragon People Leader, Khabazan, actually shook his head in refusal, waving his hands and speaking a long string of obscure words.
Sadogo was taken aback and conveyed, "The Dragon People Leader said that allowing the Child of Prophecy to climb the mountain was already an exception to receive the Holy Dragon Kingās test, and itās impossible to let the rest of us go as well."
A group of people looked at each other in dismay.
Clearly, waiting for Laine in this icy and snowy place was not a pleasant affair.
Laine seemed unconcerned and said, "Thatās fine. You guys head down the mountain first and wait for me at the foot of the mountain in Koupa Town."
...
Watching Laineās figure disappear into the snowy mountain depths with the Ancient Dragon People, everyone gathered together.
"Xu Dog, you seemed like you wanted to say something earlier. Did you notice anything peculiar?" Bai Pu looked at Special Service Officer Xu Dog.
Xu Dog respectfully said, "Yes, Leader. I feel that these Ancient Dragon People might not be as detached from the world as they claim."
The Wushan Divine Lady said, "Looking at the armor and weapons on these Dragon People, itās indeed not a weak group. They probably conduct military exercises regularly."
"That doesnāt necessarily mean anything," a female mage from the Lorich Orthodox Camp said with suspicion. "Regular military exercises might just be a Dragon Peopleās custom, a pursuit of a higher realm in Martial Dao, which doesnāt conflict with being detached from the world."
"I also donāt see a problem. The Dragon People live atop the snowy mountains, so they probably donāt face external invasions," Sadogo also shared his opinion.
"There might be no external foes, but internal strife is likely."
Bai Pu indicated, "Xu Dog, tell us about the evidence you found."
"Yes, Leader."
Xu Dogās respect for Bai Pu was palpable. He organized his thoughts quickly and said, "I noticed that many of these Ancient Dragon People have old wounds on their bodies, and two of them have missing fingers. The scent on them is also strange. It doesnāt feel like theyāve been at peace for long, but rather tempered through numerous wars."
Bai Pu nodded, "Indeed. Actually, their initial standing positions were problematic. They subtly formed a surround posture, controlling the battlefield, with several key points guarded by strong Dragon People. This is clearly a well-trained army; it canāt be explained by a pursuit of Martial Dao or a martial spirit."
Pursuing a higher realm in Martial Dao strengthens an individual. But the military formation awareness and organizational abilities the Dragon People exhibited require a prolonged military career to develop.
Seeing suspicion still in the eyes of Sadogo and others, Bai Pu continued:
"Have you noticed that the Dragon People Leader, Khabazan, has a slight hunchback and occasionally gasps while speaking? This usually results from a serious lung injury that cannot heal."
"With Khabazanās Constitution and Endurance, how could he have such unhealable old wounds? Besides poison quenching on weapons or some kind of insidious curse, I canāt think of any other explanation."
Everyone nodded in agreement. The Wushan Divine Lady remarked, "It really is a life-and-death struggle. It seems the Dragon Peopleās claim of being ādetached from the worldā is a lie."
The female mage was dissatisfied, "Doesnāt this put Laine in danger? Since you noticed, why didnāt you warn him beforehand?"
This time, before Bai Pu could speak, Sadogo halted the female mage.
This Summoning Mage stroked his chin, mused, "On second thought, the current situation isnāt bad. Laine might be rough, but thereās a reason heās known as the āwalking menace.ā The Dragon People wonāt easily eliminate him; instead, theyāve invited trouble into their den.
"As for us, having discovered the Dragon Peopleās conspiracy, we can stealthily follow and coordinate with Laine, seizing the opportunity to snatch the Holy Dragon Kingās legacy.
"This is what you call encircling from all sides, blooming at the center!"
After Sadogo finished, he applauded, looking at Bai Pu with admiration, "You had this planned all along, didnāt you? It seems you and I are of the same kind. Great, letās keep our distance from now on, and avoid teaming up if possible."
Bai Pu: "..."
...
In the southwest of Pavir Plateau, thereās a geological rift resembling the open jaws of a giant beast, engulfing the bottomless depths.
A slender and sharp-nosed Sea Race youth, wearing a robe woven from supple Gold and Silver Seaweed, was toying with a crystal-clear blue orb.
"So this is the Abyssal Treasure Bead Sir Sarajael needs? It doesnāt seem particularly special..."
Suddenly, a Sea Race servant approached and bowed:
"Prince Gaton, Sir Pang Bo has arrived."
"Pang Bo? He went to Skalaste Peak with Batali to stop Laine from accessing the Fighting Saint Dragon Kingās legacy. What? Has the mission been accomplished?"
The Sea Race servant dared not say more, falling into Silence.
The slender Sea Race youth, Gaton, furrowed his brows, "Not successful? Never mind, let Pang Bo and Batali come over and speak directly."
Gaton put away the blue Treasure Bead.
Pang Boās body bore dense scratches, and his blood seeped through the bandages, clearly suffering no minor injuries.
Standing three meters tall, Pang Bo was originally mighty and imposing, but before Gaton, he bent over low, showing humility.
"Pang Bo, why have you returned alone? Is Batali too afraid to face me?"
Gaton sat on a snow-covered rock, creating an aura of regality, looking down at Pang Bo.
"Prince Gaton... Batali is dead! I almost got killed too! Iām sorry, but the plan to ambush Laine on Skalaste Peak... failed!" Pang Bo hung his head, a hint of grievance in his voice.
"Hmm?"
Gaton could no longer remain calm, rising abruptly, "Impossible, Batali had the Flying Forbidden Curse as an escape technique. How could he die?"
"It was... it was a Blue Star Human Awakener. He had the same ability as Your Highness, able to break through the Flying Forbidden Curseās protection and killed Batali!"
"A native from a Tier One Awakened Planet having such abilities?" Gaton was evidently skeptical.
Pang Bo hurriedly said, "Your Highness, that native is unusual. Both Batali and I suspected he possesses King-level Purple Weapons!"
