At the same time, his power and speed suddenly increased.
At this point, he had at least Tier Nine strength.
Su Changxing realized that these changes were caused by the belt on his abdomen, which was a Mysterious Item and probably also caused the paralysis on half of his face.
"You even want to kill ordinary people, where is your humanity? If you want to attack, just come at me!"
Gu Xingrong roared angrily, holding a knife as he charged towards them.
"Iâll go help."
Xu Wenfengâs body ghostified, and he rushed forward.
Su Changxing watched from a distance without intervening, knowing that if he acted rashly, he might scare away the fish. He wanted to catch a big one.
It was clear these people were targeting him; Gu Xingrong and the little boyâs sister were just side issues.
Another gunshot rang out.
Su Changxing tilted his head to dodge, a bullet grazed past his ear, leaving a small crater in the ground.
Immediately, he drew the pistol from his waist, aiming at the direction from where the bullet came, and pulled the trigger repeatedly.
It wasnât just one person; there were several of them there.
As the bullets hit, the rooftop went silent, leaving only several bodies, all missing their heads.
At the same time, a shirtless skinny man stood not far from Su Changxing, suddenly raised his weapon and charged at him.
The distance was short, closing in was just a matter of a blink.
There wasnât just one person like this; there were four or five, and they had been waiting here all along, one of whom was even an Extraordinary.
But this Extraordinary seemed to have used some method to hide his energy fluctuations; even Su Changxing didnât notice immediately.
The Extraordinary waved a hand, sending a flurry of blade-like ice shards shooting towards him.
This dense attack was unavoidable.
Su Changxing didnât plan to dodge. He lifted his scythe with his left hand and sliced forward, shattering the tiny ice shards.
With simple, unadorned motions, he swept left and right, and all those who approached him fell to the ground, their bodies neatly severed.
The scene was exceedingly bloody for a moment, the skinny man remained standing even as his body fell away.
The battle began quickly, and ended just as swiftly. Within seconds, quiet settled around Su Changxing, the silence almost oppressive.
Everyone glanced at him with fear, even some members of the Doomsday Cult were stunned before they could act.
"Why bother?"
Su Changxing looked at the bodies all around, with a helpless expression.
Among them, a few were so weak they were merely ordinary people coming to be cannon fodder.
His battle was over, but Xu Wenfengâs wasnât, with two more people engaging them.
But when those people saw the scene on Su Changxingâs side, they hesitated.
Gu Xingrong took advantage of his opponentâs distraction, stabbing him through the chest and pinning him to the rubble.
Xu Wenfeng easily handled the other two as well. After his body ghostified, his speed was incredibly fast, and simple physical attacks inflicted limited damage.
He seized the chance to pierce the neck of a masked man with his rapier. Seeing another prepared to escape through the window, as he pursued, a gunshot rang out and the fleeing manâs head exploded, his body crashing to the street.
"Running is pointless."
Su Changxing holstered his pistol and walked towards the rubble.
Gu Xingrong only now noticed the bodies surrounding Su Changxing and was even more surprised.
"Thank you, my lord, for your rescue."
He expressed gratitude, sheathing his knife as the dark lines on his face gradually receded.
Su Changxing looked at him, then at the rubble, and said calmly, "There are no bodies below, nor any people."
Gu Xingrong froze, looking disbelieving, and hurried to dig through the rubble, finding no bodies indeed.
"Sheâs with the Doomsday Cult! How is that possible?"
He realized, a bit stunned as the situation was unexpected.
The little boy, a bit panicked, said, "Yeah, how could my sister be a Doomsday Cultist?"
How could it be?
Su Changxing surmised as such, asking, "Is she an Extraordinary?"
Gu Xingrong struggled with his expression, speaking uncertainly, "No, she shouldnât be. Sheâs just an ordinary person."
"She must have been bewitched by the Doomsday Cult; otherwise, she wouldnât do such things."
"Impossible, absolutely impossible."
Su Changxing watched his confused state and asked, "Is she your sweetheart?"
"Yes..."
Gu Xingrong said quietly.
At that moment.
He was deeply pained, as he held killing Doomsday Cultists as his mission, hating them so intently, yet the person he loved most was the one he hated most.
Su Changxing asked plainly, "Do you still want to continue together?"
Gu Xingrong gritted his teeth, speaking repressively, "Together, if sheâs a Doomsday Cultist, Iâll kill her myself."
The little boy shouted in response, "No, Brother Xingrong, sheâs my sister, you canât kill her."
Gu Xingrong patted his shoulder, "I have my principles and bottom line; youâll stay here."
The boy, disbelieving, questioned, "Why?"
"No reason!" Gu Xingrong didnât explain further.
After quite a while, sheriffs finally arrived, a middle-aged man with a bald head, looking robust.
"So many dead! These Doomsday Cultists are truly despicable."
He looked at the bodies on the ground, with indignation.
Xu Wenfeng reminded, "These are all Doomsday Cultists."
"These are all Doomsday Cultists... so many!"
The sheriff was clearly startled.
Xu Wenfeng didnât hold back, saying bluntly, "You came just in time, right after we finished."
Hearing this, the sheriffâs expression changed, and he retorted coldly, "It took some time to get here; if you have questions say them straight, no need for sarcasm."
Clearly, he was quite courteous; if normally addressed like this, heâd have slapped them by now.
After all, he was the sheriff, a person of importance here.
Yet so many died, making his heart grow cold, feeling quite apprehensive.
Thereâs an issue here; with so many dead Doomsday Cultists, who killed them?
Xu Wenfeng didnât relent, directly stating, "Sarcasm? Fine, straight up: you waited for everyone to die, no wonder these Doomsday Cultists run amok."
The sheriffâs face changed drastically at this, shouting, "Men, seize them first, I suspect they are Doomsday Cultists too."
With that, people behind moved in to surround Su Changxing and his group.
At this moment, Gu Xingrong stepped forward, yelling, "Deng Zhibin, these people killed them; if you want to die, just go ahead."
He looked down on this fellow sheriff the most, but he couldnât let them anger Su Changxing, sparking conflict.
The sheriff quickly caught on, his face breaking into a grin, "My lord, my lord, it was all a misunderstanding, a mistake, a mistake."
"What are you doing to the lord, step back, now."
Those about to approach froze, then slunk back.
Deng Zhibin, not bright, wasnât stupid either, guessing quickly at Su Changxingâs identity, cursing Gu Xingrong for not informing him earlier.
"Sirs, these Doomsday Cultists are very rampant, itâs dangerous here. Why not we move to another place?" Deng Zhibin suggested tentatively.
Watching Deng Zhibinâs change of face, Su Changxing found it interesting: "Weâre just planning to hunt those Doomsday Cultists, care to join us?"
The words of refusal stuck in Deng Zhibinâs throat, finding it unspeakable, Su Changxingâs gaze oppressive: "Su...sure, no problem at all."
This sheriff named Deng Zhibin seemed cowardly, yet he was an Extraordinary, appearing to have decent strength.
