Chapter 97: Jiraiya of the Sannin

It took a while for Jiraiya’s consciousness to return.

‘Urgh, damn. My whole body hurts. What happened?’

Jiraiya started to slowly open his eyes and the first thing he saw was blond hair and blue eyes.

“Minato?”

Naruto, who was currently looking at Jiraiya’s face, rolled his eyes.

“Please don’t casually reveal S-rank secrets like that. What would you do if I didn’t bring you to one of the training grounds and someone else heard you call me that?”

Jiraiya, who was still a little muddleheaded from the beating he just received, didn’t listen properly to what Naruto had just said. After he opened his eyes, he looked at Naruto’s face for a while and immediately got angry.

“YOU DAMN BRAT!!! YOU ARE THE ONE THAT RATTED ME OUT JUST NOW!!!”

“Yeah, that was some payback for leaving nee-san and me alone in the village.”

Jiraiya’s anger calmed down a little when he heard that. At first, he had no idea what Naruto was talking about, the more parts of his brain rebooted, however, the more he understood the situation. With another groan, he managed to get his beaten body off the ground and on his two feet.

“What is your name, brat.”

“Naruto Uzumaki, nice to meetcha.”

Jiraiya couldn’t help but groan again when he heard that name.

‘Damn, guess I deserved that beating. Seems like he has even found out who his father was. He probably hates me for not taking care of him despite being his godfather.’

“You might hate me for what I have done, but after Kyuubi’s attack, Konoha was in a very dangerous situation. I simply didn’t have time to take care of you.”

Naruto only shrugged his shoulders.

“Yeah, nee-san already told me about it, so I decided to settle it with you getting beat up. Besides, it’s not like I lived a bad life. Nee-san has always protected me, after all.”

“Nee-san? As in your twin sister? Why would she be the one to protect you? There should have been plenty of shinobi clans willing to adopt you two.”

Naruto shook his head.

“We lived in an orphanage until we were three and then we were kicked out of it. Although I am not sure how nee-san did it, she managed to rent us a flat on the next day where we lived for quite a few years.”

Jiraiya was visibly shaken by that.

“W-Why didn’t anyone adopt you two? I wouldn’t even be surprised if some families were willing to fight over that right.”

Naruto thought for a moment and then just shrugged his shoulders.

“Nee-san said that some mummy guy called Danzo was scheming in the background. He is also the reason why most of the civilians hate us and call us “Demon Twins”.”

Jiraiya visibly staggered backward when he heard that.

‘N-No way. Minato, you wanted your children to be the village’s heroes and yet, they somehow became scorned by the whole village.’

Jiraiya’s anger spiked when he imagined Minato’s children having to fight for themselves for all these years. He gritted his teeth and barely managed to get the word “Danzo” out of his mouth before his chakra and killing intent flooded the training ground, he was in.

It took him half a second to realize that Naruto was still standing next to him and that he would probably be crushed by the pressure before he removed it. To Jiraiya’s surprise, however, Naruto didn’t even flinch. Although he was shocked by that, Naruto’s next words surprised him even more.

“More chakra than Orochimaru, but the killing intent is weaker, huh. So, the pressure is around the same level.”

“You have met Orochimaru?”

“Yeah, he attacked my team during the chunin exam and wanted to make Sasuke his boyto… *cough* put a curse seal on Sasuke Uchiha.”

“During the chunin exam? What is Orochimaru even thinking? Has he gone completely insane?”

Naruto could only shrug his shoulders. He had no idea either, after all.

“I should have met the old man before I started my research, I really need to get updated on what is currently going on inside Konoha. First, however…”

Jiraiya looked at Naruto with a smirk on his face.

“Kid, are you interested in…”

“In case you have the same interests as Orochimaru, I’ll have to decline your offer.”

It took Jiraiya quite a while before he understood what Naruto meant with that sentence, but when he did, his face flushed with anger.

“Damn brat! Stop spouting nonsense! I wanted to offer you some training.”

“Ohh! *cough* I knew that, I was just joking. I accept your offer.”

‘He might be a pervert, but as one of the Sannin he should have some good stuff, right?’

Although Jiraiya could feel that a heavy headache was about to hit him any moment now, he decided to push through for now.

“Anyway, let’s get started. First of all, this might surprise you, but you actually have two different types of chakra inside of you. Have you ever noticed that?”

Naruto could only roll his eyes at Jiraiya’s question.

“You really should have talked to the old man before starting your so-called research.”

Oppressive chakra leaked out of Naruto, while his eyes changed color from blue to red. Jiraiya exclaimed in surprise when he saw that.

“You can already control Kyuubi’s chakra!?”

“Well, obviously, not all of it, but yes, I can.”

“Haha, good. Very good. You really are Minato’s son. In that case, are you interested in a summoning contract with the toads?”

“The toads?”

Naruto frowned a little and couldn’t help but be a little skeptical about it. Jiraiya naturally saw Naruto’s skepticism and chuckled a little.

“Haha, no need to worry like that. The toads are actually one of the three strongest summons, the same as the snails and the snakes.”

Jiraiya went through some hand signs and a big toad with a scroll in its mouth appeared.

“How about it? Interested in signing a contract with them?”

Before Naruto answered, he decided to ask for a second opinion.

‘Kurama, what do you think? Should I do it? I know almost nothing about summons. Any input?’

[That shouldn’t be a problem. Do you remember that huge snake Orochimaru summoned? Members of the toad clan can easily reach the same size. They should be rather helpful.]

‘Got it, thanks.’

“I accept. What do I need to do?”

“Haha, took you long enough. Just sign this scroll in blood and put your fingerprints under it.”

‘Oi, Kurama…’

[Yeah, it sounds suspicious, but you don’t need to worry about it. This is how it works.]

‘…Fine.’

Naruto quickly signed the contract and listened to Jiraiya explain the necessary hand signs.

“Why don’t you give it a try? Let’s see what you got.”

Naruto shrugged his shoulders in agreement. He bit his finger to draw some blood, went through the necessary hand signs and slammed his hand on the ground.

“[Kuchiyose no Jutsu]”

A small orange toad with purple markings appeared. It looked around and when it saw Naruto it lifted one of his front legs in greeting.

“Yo, the name’s Gamakichi, if you want to play, then you better give me some snacks.”

Naruto put a hand in one of his pockets and took out some dried fish.

“Dried fish?”

The small toad’s face immediately lit up in delight when he saw the snacks. He jumped on Naruto’s hand and started munching on them.

“I like you. We are friends from now on.”

“Haha, sure.”

Naruto lifted the small toad and put him on his shoulder, where he happily continued to munch on his snacks.

“Oi kid, is that really all you could summon?”

Naruto gave Jiraiya a weird look after that question.

“Who the hell uses his full power when he tries a jutsu for the first time?”

Jiraiya blushed a little when he remembered that that was exactly what he had done after making the summoning contract, resulting in him immediately fainting after calling his first summon.

“*Cough* A-Anyway, why not try to summon someone bigger? As long as I am here, there is no need to worry. I have good relations with all the toads and can control them easily.”

‘As long as he doesn’t use the Kyuubi’s chakra, he shouldn’t have enough chakra to summon Boss Gama, after all. Well, he probably has enough, but there is no way he is skillfully enough to channel it properly.’

“Fine here I go.”

Naruto flared his chakra and gathered massive amounts of it. Jiraiya paled when he saw that.

‘What is with that insane chakra control? How can he control such massive amounts of chakra this precisely at such a young age? Shit, I need to stop him, he might actually pull out Boss Gama.’

“Sto…”

“[Kuchiyose no Jutsu]”

A giant smoke cloud billowed out, and as soon as Jiraiya saw who Naruto summoned he made himself invisible.

‘Sorry kid, this is your problem now.’
