Chapter 190: Another Intense Battle
Mei Terumi was tired. No, she wasnât simply tired, she was dead tired. After Yuna killed Yagura and left the battlefield, the conflict was pretty much over. Shortly after Yuna left, quite a few people in the enemyâs army had their fighting spirit reignited, but after Mei melted a few dozen of them, that changed rather quickly. Although the conflict was over after that, her work was far from done. She still had to meet dozens of supposedly important people and talk with them about the current political situation of Kirigakure and the Land of Water in general.
This even included the Daimyo who, after remembering Yunaâs words, Mei considered melting a few times during their discussion about who the next Mizukage should be, despite Mei being pretty much the only real choice. Two hours. That was how long that discussion took, despite there being nothing to discuss at all.
When she returned to the command center, which served as her temporary residence as well, she flopped down on her bed and could immediately feel sleepiness overwhelming her.
â*Sigh* that was so annoying. Although I am really thankful to Yuna for getting rid of Yagura, couldnât she have helped me with all that political nonsense as well?â
âYou know that is impossible. I am from Konoha, after all.â
âYeah, yeah, I am aware of thâŠâ

Before Mei could finish her jutsu, Yuna, who was the person who answered her question, locked lips with her, and moments later, Mei could feel the familiar feeling of her lips freezing over. Not willing to lose this time, Mei immediately increased her chakra output, causing everything around her to start heating up, while Yunaâs side of the room started cooling down.
Mei wasnât sure why, but the coldness radiating out of Yuna felt incredibly relaxing to her. Usually, she was the one who had to take the initiative, which became even more pronounced now, that she would become the fifth Mizukage, but when Yuna was nearby, she always felt like she didnât need to bother about that. She felt like no matter what happened, Yuna would have it under control.
Just like now, when Mei released a significant amount of her chakra while Yuna was kissing her, resulting in the temperature in her side of the room increasing to a dangerous degree. Mei was just about to decrease the temperature, to prevent the furniture from burning when an abnormally potent wave of ice chakra washed over the whole room, cooling it down instantly.
Mei had no idea how Yuna overwhelmed her chakra this easily, nor did she understand why it gave her a very satisfying sense of security, but what she did understand was, that Yunaâs presence, somehow, took a massive burden off of her.
That, of course, didnât mean that she was willing to lose against Yuna, so she increased the heat even further and now, that Yuna had to control the temperature in the room as well, Mei finally felt like she was gaining some ground.
One might call her shameless for abusing the fact that Yuna was regulating the temperature in the room while Mei could fully concentrate on their âbattleâ, but since Yuna was the one who started doing it and could stop any time, Mei didnât see anything wrong with it.
She didnât even notice when Yunaâs arms snaked around her and started hugging her, nor did she notice when her arms did the same to Yuna. The only thing Mei felt was Yunaâs tongue pushing against her own as boiling hot and freezing cold chakra collided, pushing against each other and fighting for dominance.
This stalemate lasted for quite a while but, without fully understanding why, Mei suddenly felt Yuna breaking the contact between their lips and before Mei could ask any questions, Yuna vanished and the door to the room opened.
âMei-sama, is everything alright?â
Seeing Ao enter the room, Meiâs eyes immediately grew colder. Ao, however, didnât notice that at all and activated his Byakugan.
âI could feel you flaring your chakra and since this room is shielded from the Byakugan I had to come personally to take a look. What happened, Mei-sama?â
Mei couldnât help but panic a little when she saw Ao activate his Byakugan. She wasnât sure why, but she didnât want him to find out that she was together with Yuna a few moments ago. She wanted to speak up to stop Ao from searching the room with his Byakugan, but it was already too late.
âHow weird. I could have sworn that I felt another chakra signature, but my Byakugan isnât showing me anything, nor can I find another person in the room.â
To Meiâs surprise, Ao didnât find Yunaâs presence at all, which she found beyond weird. The only possibility she could think of was, that Yuna left the room with her [Flying Thunder God Seal], but that should have at least left behind a chakra signature that Ao could pick up, so Mei was pretty sure that, that wasnât what Yuna did.
Moments later, when she realized that Ao wouldnât find Yuna, different thoughts started appearing in her head. She was enjoying her time with Yuna quite a bit, and their battle wasnât over yet, either, but Ao actually interrupted them. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Ao, naturally, noticed Meiâs anger as well.
âM-Mei-sama, did I do something wrong?â
âAo, I will melt you.â
Feeling the temperature of her side of the room rise, Ao backed away a few steps from Mei.
âM-Mei-sama, please calm down. If I did something to anger you, I apologize.â
Mei snorted in annoyance, before shooing Ao away. Although she was angry at him for interrupting her fun, she wouldnât actually hurt one of her most loyal retainers because of it.
The moment Ao scurried out of the door, Yuna jumped down from the ceiling as if nothing happened and looked at Mei with a smirk. Although Mei really wanted to know how Yuna managed to hide from the Byakugan, she was pretty sure that Yuna had more important matters to discuss with her. Although she would like to go for another kiss, she suppressed her desire for now and mentally prepared herself for whatever Yuna wanted to talk about.
âWell, I am sure you are not just here to play around, right? Say, what you want to say.â
âHehe, although you are right, I wouldnât mind doing anotherâŠbattle. What do you think? No longer than five minutesâ
A small pink blush appeared on Meiâs cheeks before she nodded her head.
âWell, if it is just for five minutes, it should be fine.â
