When Mo Si arrived at the rescue center, he saw Jiang Qiuqiu sitting with a young man.
He didnāt know what they were talking about, but he saw a pensive look appear on Jiang Qiuqiuās face, which then broke into a smile.
He paused, not approaching them right away.
But ever since she started practicing her spiritual power, Jiang Qiuqiu had become very sensitive to being watched. Sensing a gaze on her, she quickly looked up and scanned the area.
Her eyes immediately landed on the tall, slender man.
āIs he here for me?ā
She stood up almost immediately and called out his name, "Black Hole! What are you doing here?"
"I came to see when youāre heading back," Mo Si said, slowly walking to her side.
The voice sounded vaguely familiar. Little Qing followed the gaze of the girl beside him and looked up. He hadnāt noticed before, but the sight of the man left him stunned.
His gaze was fixed intently on Mo Siā
All he could think was, āHe looks just like him!ā
As Mo Si drew near, Jiang Qiuqiu introduced him to Little Qing. "This is my friend, Black Hole." The implication was clear: this was the person who had gotten the Military Department to take charge of things.
Snapping out of his daze, Little Qing scrambled to his feet to greet him and offer his thanks. The rescue centerās situation was dire, so for someone to get the Military Department to take over this mess, Black Hole was practically the centerās savior.
Perhaps because he was so flustered, his face turned red after just a few words of thanks.
Mo Si observed him. āHe is indeed young,ā he thought, ābut heās composed and sensible. When I sent my people over the other day, he didnāt lose his cool. His aptitude isnāt bad either. A promising kid. A pity...ā
His thoughts shifted. Thinking of the boyās age and what heād been through, his voice was calm, and if one listened closely, carried a hint of warmth. "Thereās no need for thanks. Itās the Military Departmentās duty to provide support here."
"Youāve done a great job as the acting leader here."
"Thank you!" Little Qing was thrilled by the praise.
With a third person now part of the conversation, their private chat couldnāt continue. Mo Si switched to business. "Are you having lunch here?"
"When do you plan to start your training this afternoon?"
Jiang Qiuqiu wasnāt planning on having lunch here. As for training, the sooner after lunch, the better. She could have left right then, but she had already promised Little Qing that she would go see Brother Leopard.
He had told her that Brother Leopardās condition was quite stable, and that he was very eager to see her.
She explained this to Mo Si. "I want to go see him before I leave. Are you going to wait here for me, or come with?"
"Iāll come with you."
So, with Little Qing leading the way, the three of them headed deeper into the hallway.
Mo Si walked at a slower pace, falling slightly behind the other two. Soon, they arrived at the small, cramped room.
"I wonāt go in. Otherwise, Brother Leopard will start lecturing me again the moment he sees me," Little Qing said. "Miss Jiang... uh, Qiuqiu, you can go on in. Iāll wait for you out here."
"Alright."
She gave a wave, and Little Qing jogged away. Just before leaving, he couldnāt help but glance back at Mo Si one last time.

Brother Leopardās hearing was still quite sharp. The moment the door opened, his eyes fluttered open.
He had heard Little Qingās words from outside, and he slowly got to his feet inside the cage. Then, he saw herāthe young woman who had brought hope to the entire rescue center.
"Miss Jiang, good morning."
"Good morning to you, too."
"Thank you for coming to see me again." His spiritual power seemed a little stronger than last time, and he sounded more energetic as well.
"I know I shouldnāt trouble you, Miss Jiang..."
"But I really just wanted someone to talk to." Brother Leopardās voice sounded a bit weary and lonely. "When I talk to the others here at the center, everyone is just so sad."
"Itās only when Iām speaking with you, Miss Jiang, that I can feel this calm."
